    I woke up to program announcements. Confession: I wasn't really that antsy about media day as everyone else mainly because I didn't care about what music he would skate to /blasphemy I know/. I'm just happy he's continuing. Thoughts: Trust no layout from media day... I think we've learned our lesson.

    He actually does. Prior to JWC 2009 he had really bad back pain that he could hardly jump (resulted in a 12th place finish). He had back pain prior to WC 2014. Also, he withdrew from competing in the 2014 Finlandia Trophy due to back pain as well.... and those incidents are the ones he's willingly shared. There might be others that we're not aware of.

    The IOC itself doesn't give out prize money but each country sort of has a reward if their athlete won a medal. CNBC has an article of the reward money from each country. If I remember correctly, Yuzu received 10 million yen from JOC - 5 million donated to Sendai and the other half to Miyagi Prefecture.

    And this was the only program to beat her since she turned senior (before the 17-18 season with the injury). Maybe Eteri / Averbubu though if you can't beat them then one up them

    Not quite sure about each competition but maybe it depends on the event/organizers? Though it's known that the money won is definitely not enough and that why some have to set up gofundme's. I remember Finlandia 2013 had a prize money of 3000 euros (donated by the Finnish Figure Skating Association) mainly because of Yuzu's reaction when he heard it . The trophies were donated by the city of Espoo. So it might be that prizes (including cash prizes) might depend entirely on the organizer's budget (hence, French event planning).
