  1. Well, he's done a sakura flower as well.... Fire? A ghost? A gold medal? A pyramid? Angry thunderstorm? A personification of a music note?
  2. Ehh, one single axel and one 3Lo would probably ok. Though it's not as though jumps are the highlight of Yuzu's exhibitions.
  3. :cough:NotteStellataBarcelona:cough: Though damn, I thought the LCG spins were da shit but then Otonal happened. Though my mom told me to rewind the Origin final spin twice, because of the on-the-note acceleration.
  4. He occasionally exhibits quite a clear moustache shadow, though.
  5. Edit: It was pointed out that my post violated the forum rules, sorry guys.
  6. I saw a translation of that, and basically the questions were 1. Q: Would you rather be an animal or a human if you were reborn? A: A human 2. Q: So would it be better to be a man or a woman? A: A man because I already have an experience of being a man. That doesn't sound controversial to me?
  7. Well, now I feel like a silly teen voting for her idol in an online poll because I went and gave a like to all Yuzu posts just so that they'd all be on top for ISU to see. And I don't even use twitter normally.
  8. Ah, I'm afraid I'll never be able to see HyK as remotely masculine, mostly because of some spins and some steps - they're just too "spring" and "joy" and "innocence" for me to get any "masculine" from it.
  9. Oh, there were moments where Adam's Rippon body language was very telling - although I think it was deliberate. My mother took a look at his opening FS pose and asked, "Is he gay?" Other than that, I agree that Adam's skating style was rather on the athletic side, although I wouldn't call it macho. I must say that I found Adam's mix of athletic and some little flourishes rather appealing to watch. The thing is, those traits can co-exist too and it makes skaters more unique. Out of curiosity, who are the current skaters whose style you enjoy the most, in general? Top 5? Mine: 1. Yuzu - duh, lol. 2. Junhwan - possibly because he reminds me of Yuzu a tiny bit. 3. Kevin Aymoz 4. Daniel Samohin - I just enjoy his over-dramatic ass. 5. ... Aliev/Kolyada On that list, I would only consider Samohin to veer towards stereotypically masculine, but it's tempered by his over-the-top drama and costumes. And who, in your opinion represents the typically masculine style? I would say Kovtun, Majorov and Bychenko, but I wonder if I just don't subconsciously equate "stocky and without finesse whatsoever" with "stereotypically masculine". From past skaters, who did posess finesse, maybe Patrick and Javi?
  10. Eh, flutterby is probably closer to the crux of the situation, mentioning Hamilton's insecurities, but nevertheless the overall attitude ain't pretty. The thing about people is that they can be great friends and very kind and giving in certain aspects and narrow-minded assholes about other aspects. And I'm borrowing the "inspiration porn" term for future use.
  11. Lol, Scott Hamilton. From what I heard, the dude's practically homophobic - excuse me for calling a spade a spade - and probably can't stand the fact that the most accomplished skater in the modern era, lauded as the best of all time and arguably the focus of the greatest adoration a figure skater has ever experienced, is one that doesn't represent and doesn't give a flying f**** about the stereotypical masculinity.
  12. Yeah, I think the main reason for the Pooh shower is that fans want just want Yuzu to see, literally, with his eyes, that they love him. Pooh, which is his symbol, is the easiest, most visual way to accomplish that. Absolutely nothing to do with other athletes.
  13. Oh please, that's some really convoluted reasoning. An invalidated quad and an underrotated and badly landed one are irrelevant? When the opponent landed 6 quads with higher value cleanly? You must be joking. Had Yuzu landed those cleanly, he'd have won even in the face of Nathan's overscoring. And yes, for what it was, namely from the athletic point of view, Nathan's skates were excellent. No, not as good as Yuzu can be at his best, because Yuzu goes beyond excellent and into sublime, but I'm not above admitting someone merit where it's due. I would have scored Nathan 15 - 20 pts lower than he was, but with those 2 mistakes of Yuzu, that would probably be Nathan's win anyway.
  14. Didn't x-monster calculate that if Yuzu had gone clean on both Sals, he probably would have won? She calculated 15 pts extra in SP and 7.5 in FS, plus possibly a point or two extra for PCS. The margin would have been tiny, but it'd have been doable. I really think that all the quads are not necessary for him to get back to the top of the podium, just 4A would be enough. He could get similar layout to Nathan, with 2 3T combos. Really, Yuzu's worst enemy is his own health. When he's healthy, we get the 2015 GP or Helsinki 2017 performances. And given the recent interviews we can only hope that his ankle will recover somehow and that he won't get injured again somehow. That's a tall order. That said, Yuzu's back in Canada already? I thought he'd stay in Japan for holiday, press, tv appearances until his rummored guest appearance at WTT. What's so pressing in Canada? The treatment?
  15. You know what, iCeleste? I think you've bought into the idea that Yuzu deserves winning no matter what he does and no matter what others do a bit too much. No, saying that Nathan deserved to win isn't a sign of being brainwashed, it's a sign of acknowledgeing that Yuzu is fallible and that Nathan had excellent skates. I'll be the first to say that Nathan was grossly overscored, but he had tremendous technical arsenal which he went clean on whereas Yuzu made one big ****** mistake in the SP and lesser one in the FS, plus a few tight landings. Yes, Nathan isn't half the artist Yuzu is but as fans of figure skating we should be able to look past our personal bias and give credit where it's due. And Nathan does deserve credit for his athletic ability. I feel like we're rehashing the Dai vs Yuzu story from Japanese Nationals 2012, only now Yuzu is Dai and Nathan is Yuzu.
  16. Now I must see whether there are any videos of Plushy in his naked costume...
  17. Tumblr has an automatic filter to detect and block adult content. That filter is, to put it mildly, not exactly precise. Thus, in the eyes of Tumblr, Yuzu's spins = porn! I could maybe relate to that point of view if they hadn't blocked it...
  18. Out of boredom I went through some of my tumblr posts. So apparently Yuzu's Notte Stellata spin video was blocked due to qualifying as pornographic content. I kinda hate tumblr.
  19. Lol, guys don't stress. There will be no 4A. I may not be Yuzu's coach or a telepath, but I know this much.
  20. C'mon Yuzu, you have to knock it out of the park now, need to give Javi every reason to gush enthusiastically!
  21. Hahaha, yes, of course I know what "have nothing on" is supposed to mean, but isn't the literal interpretation a lot more fun?
  22. There's too much clothes to reflect reality. The blog entry translation said he plays games when he has nothing on.
  23. Then let me re-phrase it: what Russian coach could teach a girl a 3A or a quad other than Eteri and Mishin? Does Mishin even have any junior girls? What about coaches who teach guys? I 'm really quite interested why Eteri and Mishin seem to be the only technically successful coaches. Pogo, imo, was immensely talented but she was never even taught how to fall. Buyanova's students usually seem to stalll, like Sotskova. Chebotareva teaches Konstantinova, right? Not exactly setting the world on fire... Edit: Also, any info why Tarakanova wasn't sent to JW?
  24. Eh, it's something to talk about. The thing is, what coach other than Eteri could help her stabilize her 3A or teach her a quad? Mishin?
