  1. This is the correct link to Yuzu's interview btw. (@olympicchannel linked Sasha's interview instead of Yuzu's by mistake) https://www.olympicchannel.com/en/video/detail/exclusive-hanyu-things-coming-together/
  2. The voting reflects this "whatever" pretty well so far. 16 votes - 8 different choices
  3. Yeah, the poll for Yuzu's NHK EX is open now
  4. Yeah, well. Troll-Yuzu striked again with Parisienne Walkways at Skate Canada @yuzuangel I followed your request and opened a new poll/thread. However, I decided to change the items a bit according to some suggestions that I've read here or in the gala thread.
  5. The top man is still the same and doesn't age at all Watching Yuzu and Sasha dorking around is so lovely. Two terminators jumping perfect sync sbs 4T in gala practice is everything. Gosh, in pairs they would have such a massive lead with their jumps that they could even afford to skip the lifts
  6. This is so true. It's the second time in a row that they completely ignore Camden. It's his first senior GP and a 4th place is a great result for him, he even finished second after the SP with a clean and well-rounded program. Considering that Vincent skips this season's GP series (maybe the full season?) Camden is a serious contender for a 4CC or Worlds spot. Same goes for Jason, who finished second at Skate America last week. They just don't seem to exist in the presence of Nathan Chen, at least in the eyes of NBC and co. I cannot believe that Nathan himself supports this poisoned and one-dimensional media coverage. However, the air gets thinner. Even the ISU himself talks officially about Yuzuru Hanyu, the GOAT, now. I didn't expect that to happen anytime soon, but it happened. Yuzu enforced this with his pure quality and style.
  7. Well, they obviously don't like to look back to the last four head-to-head programs, Nathan's desaster in the Olympic SP does not fit their narratives. I didn't expect anything else from NBC to be honest. They try to twist things as they like and make Yuzu look as bad as possible, which is quite an achievement considering his success, quality and star status worldwide.
  8. Aye. 4T+1Eu+3S with negative GOE at WTT 2017, but it counts as a first nevertheless. A few funfacts about this table: 1. Yuzu leads this list now with a jump that doesn't include a 4Lz. Sadly it's his only jump in this list. 2. His combo is the only element completed in the second half and with raw GOE above 4. 3. Only 5 of the 20 jumps were landed after the introduction of the +/-5 system and you have to scroll down quite a lot to find the other four.
  9. To put things into perspective: Yuzuru's Top 10 combined total scores +/-5 system in Italic Japanese Nationals scores not included 1. 330.43 (GPF 2015) 2. 322.59 (SC 2019) 3. 322.40 (NHK 2015) 4. 321.59 (Worlds 2017) 5. 317.85 (Olympics 2018) 6. 303.71 (4CC 2017) 7. 301.06 (NHK 2016) 8. 300.97 (Worlds 2019) 9. 297.12 (Finland GP 2019) 10. 295.17 (Worlds 2016) EDIT: And this was his first GP this season. Get that.
  10. https://mobile.twitter.com/SkatingScores/status/1187925103574765569 This list is so healing for my skating soul... Yuzu's jumping quality gets appreciated after all. Great to see Jason's 3F and Kaori's 3Lo multiple times in this list, too
  11. I can't wait to see Yuzu skating to "I want to break free". Solo or with whatever line-up. That would be so fabulous. Actually Yuzu can pick any Queen song and it would be a performance for the ages, that's for sure.
  12. Sorry Yuzu, but I only accept a third or fourth recycling round of Origin, if you skate in this costume.
  13. My biggest mistake this weekend was to read some comments on ISU's official YT Channel. It caused me physical pain I can 100% understand that you skipped SA. I really need a break, too. However, please don't let yourself down by some ugly/annoying/stupid comments. Your work is amazing and very valuable for the integrity of this sport. #Footnote: Some sick haters attacked my videos on YT and wanted me to delete them. At the beginning I tried it with friendly, diplomatic responds, but I quickly realized that they don't deserve a single minute of my time and attention. I rather invest it in new quality content and try to please all those people who appreciate my effort. It's really not worth it to argue with vicious idiots, especially if they do not even take the time to read your work.
  14. I'm still working on the collection of Yuzu's spin positions. I have the concept and the material (to most parts at least), but I still haven't decided about the edit/composition yet. I tried out so many different variations already... group the spins in basic/non-basic positions... or ISU codes (CSSp, CCoSp, FCSp, etc.)... or chronologically when he first brought them in competition/gala... Overall I prefer option 1, but it's really hard to split the video footage of a combo spin into the different positions (especially if they only have 2-3 revolutions each). So it will take some time...
  15. Waah!! Thank you, I'm happy that you like this video I needed 3 months research + material collection and another 3 months for the editing. It was really tricky to visualize and explain what happened in Yuzu's brain during the performances. Originally there was only text, no sidebar with the program layout. I tried like 20 different options and asked multiple volunteers to test the reading time etc. Finally I had to match everything with the music. So yeah, it was a very long and demanding project, but definitely worth it. #Footnote: Halfway my editor looked chaotic like this
  16. Random celebrity: takes all clothes off and poses for Playboy. Fans: Yuzu: wears a top with deep V-neck. Fans: OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. I cannot speak for others, but for me one outstanding athlete has always been a 100 times more captivating than an even field of less known competitors. That was the case with Usain Bolt in athletics or Michael Phelps in swimming. I probably wouldn't follow these sports today without these superstars, who were miles ahead of the rest and broke records over and over again. The difference is: in athletics, swimming etc. you cannot control the outcome of a competition with biased scoring. The athlete who crosses the finish line first, wins the competition. So if you are the best for 3 or 4 Olympic cycles, well... then you are the best for 3 or 4 cycles. No one can stop you from winning and your incredible dominance and longevity gets properly reflected in the competition results. Did anyone complain that Phelps' dominance over four Olympic cycles was boring? Or Bolt's? I can't remember. Did their dominance harm the sport? I would say that it rather increased the popularity. In swimming you cannot say that with Phelps' retirement the sport suffered, because now we have other superstars with Caeleb Dressel and Adam Peaty. I think, Dressel has the potential to even surpass Phelps in the near future. So I agree with @Paskud here. If Yuzu was unbeaten for two or three cycles, would it really be that bad for the sport? The only active skater who was able to beat Yuzu in his senior career is Nathan. He's the only one, who's statistics would be negatively affected by a Yuzu dominance streak. For the rest it wouldn't make a difference really. Can Nathan carry on the sport after Yuzu's retirement? I wouldn't be surprised, if Nathan himself retired after Beijing as well. Ideally he continues until 2026, and then? ISU needs a new poster child anyway. So... In my opinion it's complete nonsense to create artificial rivalries that do not reflect the true quality differences between athletes. If you have one superstar, support him as long as you can and if there is no upcoming talent to carry the torch, you still can create narratives. But as long as you have someone really really really good, you don't need any narratives. Quality speaks for itself and should be rewarded properly. My guess: this made-up rivalry between Yuzu and Nathan has absolutely nothing to do with worries about the post-Yuzu-era. The only goal is to crown a champion from the US again. Here and now.
  18. Yes, Y-spiral for Shizuka in Torino. That would be really really nice. My personal highlights of Crystal are this spiral and the 3Lo on the note. The rest is nice, but does not reach me as much as Notte or HYK. My dream would still be Masquerade, LGC or a Queen program, but it's very unlikely I fear...
  19. For the sake of recycling trinity. With Haru-chan Yuzu would set a new world record of recyclings per season, aye?
  20. Yeah, Skate Canada is around the corner, EX gala included. I'm really curious what program Yuzu has picked for this season... (as much as I love Haru Yo, Koi, I really hope for something new...) Many people say that Crystal Memories is the most likely choice. Would you agree? I created this poll + prediction thread, so that the General Chat doesn't get too flooded (I hope, that's okay?)
  21. Well, in less than two weeks Yuzu will probably reveal his brand new EX program at Skate Canada. What do you think will that be?
  22. This is mindblowing. Thank you so much, @shanshani for your amazing work! I agree that there are countless different types of "bias" (personal, national, cultural, reputational, corruptional, ...) and some of them are really tricky to verify. I ask myself: if the majority of judges used 'inofficial guidelines' (starting order, world ranking position or reputation, number of senior seasons/titles/records, flag, etc.) and there was one judge, who 100% sticked to the official written guidelines... could that be pointed out as well? Sure, extremely biased judges must be banned, but at the same time they must be replaced by proper alternatives as well. Maybe it would help, if we pointed out the work of the least biased judges as positive examples that others should follow. What do you think?
  23. Is the UK affected, too? I would miss Simon and Chris, also Max and Angelo and many other iconic European voices... However. IF the ISU uploaded individual performances as 6-8 min. long YT clips like the Olympic Channel, this would be pretty effective to up the view numbers. Currently we have 10-20 different uploads of the same Yuzu performance with views in the 10,000s (maybe 100,000s). Imagine how many views an official clip would have that everyone watches... I think, we could get a bunch of +1M videos, aye? EDIT: Maybe the regio-restrictions will be a problem...
  24. If they really want to promote figure skating worldwide and win new fans, it doesn't make much sense to create a pay-streaming channel on YouTube. If I weren't a diehard figure skating fan, I wouldn't pay for a channel that shows skating videos only. (I'm not even sure, if I paid for it as a fan.) I literally stumbled across the GPF 2016 and Yuzu's Notte Stellata EX, when I zapped randomly through my TV channels. It was beautiful to watch, so I googled his next live competition, read his Wiki entry and searched for old performances on YT. That's how everything started. If there's no TV broadcast, you can only stumble across figure skating in your YouTube suggestions. So ISU needs archive clips of the best performances with high viewing numbers to introduce the sport to new potential fans. That's why I do believe that it will be free. (I might overestime the ISU, though.)
