Oh, she's really looking forward to Nationals. She promised that - if Yuzu competes - she'll make hot crêpes with chocolate sauce and roasted almonds with brown sugar... to celebrate his return to competition properly

About Worlds: I'm not so sure that the situation of the pandemic will change that much until Worlds (despite of vaccines). JNats is a domestic event for Yuzu, so he doesn't have to travel abroad at least. Stockholm is a different cup of tea, especially with the exploding number of infections since November. It's uncertain that Worlds can be held at all. They just might cancel it last minute like they did Montreal last year. So JNats might be Yuzu's only chance to compete at all this season, but we'll see. About Yuzu's programs: You have to keep in mind that - with presence coaching or not - Yuzu had 10 months to recover from old injuries and mental setbacks, to strenghten his body, practice jumps and prepare new programs. 10 long months without exhausting travellings, competition pressure, media presence or ice show fatigue. 10 long months to build confidence and work on new weapons in silence. He never had an opportunity like this. Ever. Remember that last year he had to travel from Canada to Japan for NHK, back to Canada and to Torino for GPF, back to Canada and to JNats. All that in... what? Three weeks? Now he can enter JNats without any jetlag, completely fresh and recovered. That is a very big advantage to last season. As much as Chopin and Seimei are his pillars of comfort and success, he cannot use these programs forever. The uproar about recycling has become bigger with every season and it just feeds the bad narratives about him. I really don't think that he wants to add fuel to the fire. If I remember correctly, Yuzu wanted to have new programs last year after JNats anyway, right? He just didn't have enough time before 4CC and Worlds to create and prepare them. I do believe that after the cancellation of Montreal he had the new season and programs in mind already and talked with his coaches and choreographers about his situation before he left Canada. They have a plan for sure. Just because we haven't heard anything about his situation for a long time, it doesn't mean that he hasn't done anything. I'm absolutely sure that - if he's really competing at JNats in a few days - he is well prepared and has something in the bag that is worthy enough for him to compete in the middle of a pandemic. I'm sure he will do well. Much better than we think. Mom says that, too, and she's usually right

[NEWS] You mean this? EDIT: Wow, if Yuzu really competes, imagine the waterfall of news: Program reveals Costume reveals Layout reveals Practice and competition footage Loads of TV news, interviews and press cons ... This will be some busy Christmas, I guess.
-
I just pray that - if he decides to compete - the journalists will not circle him again like a ravenous pack of wolves and push the microphone into his mouth, when he arrives. Please not, especially in the middle of a pandemic. The situation is dangerous and complicated enough without that madness.

Maia's latest post on Twitter! I miss these two so much. And Alex, too This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].

Well, in Torino the base value of Yuzu's planned freeskate content has been the highest since the introduction of the +/-5 system. So it's not like Yuzu trails other skaters in that department either. On the contrary, he was surprisingly close to succeed at first attempt with that hell of a layout. He landed all 5 quads he planned including two backloaded quad combos. He just ran out of energy at the end and popped the 3A+3A sequence, which is not exactly the easiest jumping pass to close with Yuzu may not have the highest BV in his SP, but he's criminally consistent with that layout considering that he's scored 104.21 points in AVERAGE the last two seasons. That is massive. The only problem was that the few mistakes happened in Nathan's presence. That was not ideal.

After a long time I finally had the guts to read discussions on other platforms again and stumbled across one recurring comment: "Yuzu may not be technically the best, but he's an incredible artist." I know, Yuzu said himself that technical prowess is the foundation of artistry. However, I'd like to reflect on that comment and I'm interested, if you share this opinion: For me, technical prowess is the sum of the following features in men's singles: strong body core/ balance and basic skating skills high quality steps, turns and other moves in the field high quality jumps (rotation, edges, trajectory, toe-picking, etc.) high quality spins (centering, speed, strong positions etc.) high level of difficulty (base value) continuity/ fluidity in movements and complex transition work (no wasted sections for setup/ recovery) If you put all these aspects together, I think, it's very hard to name a skater, who can top Yuzu globally. Yes, some skaters have very consistent jumps or many different quads or very strong spins or excellent skating skills, but it's so extremely rare that EVERYTHING comes together equally. There are always one or two aspects at least, where other skaters still have room to grow (a lot of room imo). Also, I think that skating clean or making mistakes is not that much about technical prowess, but more about stamina and mental strength/ psychology. I'm sure, if Yuzu had the opportunity to record his performances at home, he would be unbeatable by a mile. It's just that the complexity of his programs makes it extremely hard to skate clean all the time. I think, the longing for perfection is an even bigger challenge for him than the pressure on his shoulders. However, the great thing is: IF Yuzu stays on his feet, he stays on his feet with quality and I celebrate him for that.

From me Happy Birthday, too!! And thank you so much, Team PH, for organizing this amazing streaming party!

Thanks! The thing is: when I edited Yuzu's page on Wikiquote this year, I reached out to fans, if anyone is willing to upload new pictures on Commons, but nothing has happened so far. So I was forced to use the few pictures from the old library. It was a bit frustrating, considering how many awesome Yuzu pics are uploaded on Twitter and Insta every second.
-
It's not that easy to change pictures on Wikipedia. You can only use pictures that are uploaded on the sister project Wikimedia Commons under the free Wiki Commons license. That means: you allow every person to use, share and edit the picture for commercial and non-commercial purposes without giving credit to you. That's the reason why there are so few proper pictures of Yuzu on Wikipedia. There are very few people who are willing to contribute something under free license. This is the current library of Yuzu-pictures on Wiki Commons (it's really pitiful considering the masses of pics that are floating on Twitter, Insta and other platforms): Yuzuru Hanyu on Wikimedia Commons If you want to upload a new profile picture, you can do it here (but you need a Wiki-account): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:UploadWizard Edit: @YuzuNekozuu Do you have the exact link to the QnA page, where the profile pic is discussed? I might be of help there. Media files are a very sensitive topic on Wikipedia and you can be easily blocked for vandalism, if you don't follow the strict guidelines of the page.

Yuzu would rather do a somersault on the tech panel's desk than lift a girl in competition. I bet my salary on that. And my christmas money, too.

Well, I didn't know that Yuzuru Hanyu existed - until 11 December 2016. That was the day of the exhibition gala at the GPF in Marseille. I was randomly zapping through some TV channels, when I stumbled across Eurosport, saw that white swan and... went down into the cellar to fetch my jaw. I will never forget, how flubbergasted I was that day. I watched and rewatched that performance in loop, but I just couldn't believe my eyes that this was a live sport event and not the making of a new fantasy movie with +100M$ budget. The skating, the costume, the atmosphere... it was all too beautiful to be real. So 12-11-2016 is THE day for me, where everything started.
-
1. I have known him for 1452 days. 2. I saw a swan on Eurosport and thought: Magic does not only exist in fairy tales and fantasy novels, but in real life, too.

Well, that lift with Ondrej in Torino looked very promising already... But I fear, Yuzu will only switch disciplines, if 1. he finds a lady, who is strong and bulky enough to throw and lift him 2. ISU allows same-sex pairs. Oh, and minimum requirement for the partner: SBS 3A and 4T+3T+3T combo. Naturally.

They know how to pour oil on the fire. Edit: This is a bit OT, but I just saw how many FS fans were complaining about Simon Reed's latest commentaries on the ISU channel. This is so sad... Simon, Chris Howarth, Ted Barton... there was a time, when I really celebrated them as FS commentators. The ESP uncles had so many iconic moments in the past (hello Helsinki 2017) and I had so much respect for Ted's factual but also encouraging comments at Junior comps a couple of years ago. Now I have the feeling that the ISU put an Imperius Curse on them or something... they are not the people I used to know. I wish that we get their old selves back one day, because I miss them badly. "Again, the sea of flags from Japan. What can he produce? Lying in fifth place. Surely a medal is within his grasp, if he can skate anywhere near his top form. Yuzuru Hanyu. The music: Hope and Legacy." - R.I.P. Simon Reed

Mom is still the best, when it comes to optimism and motivation. ' This year Yuzu finally had the chance to recover from old injuries, bring his body in the best shape for a long time and focus on the things he wants. He was freed from the enormous stress at Worlds, had 9 long months to work silently on his jumps, prepare his programs and work out training methods and strategies that suit his current situation. I do believe that his next outing in competition - whenever it will be - will be a surprise and it will be great. '

Oh, I just realized that we reached +600 new pages in the General Chat since 10th February (first day after 4CC 2020). No competitions, no shows, no media day. Just a series of monthly short clips (until September) from a mysterious room with white walls. 600 new pages. Let that sink in.

Well, Yuzu's name on an entry list is some kind of (potential) evidence that he is still alive and hasn't turned into a fossile or ghost or any other kind of echo of his living existence yet. At this point it feels like breaking news, really.
-
I keep my expectations rather low to be honest. Figure skating without corruption would be like... fish and chips without fish. But yeah, it would be very nice, if Yuzu's inventions were used one day.

During the COR live broadcast Hungarian commentator and official ISU judge, Noemi Stipkovits, mentioned Yuzu's graduation thesis and talked about digitization in FS: Here is my English translation of the Hungarian commentary (please correct me, if I got something wrong): ' [Samodurova's] jumps have no height, so I can hardly imagine her to do a quad. We will see in the replays - there you can see the height and distance of the jump better. There are endeavors... I don't know how far we will go in the direction of digitization. Hanyu, too - Yuzuru Hanyu has written his graduation thesis about this - how the executed elements in figure skating can be measured more objectively. And the ISU has made efforts, too. There have been TV broadcasts already, where you can see the skater's speed such as the height and distance of the jump. ' Edit: If I remember correctly, the Ice Scope is an innovation made by Japanese broadcast (Fuji TV?) and not exactly an 'effort by the ISU'... However. I think, it's nice that Yuzu's thesis got mentioned (by an official ISU judge). That means, they have it on the radar at least and don't try to treat it like a cloud of dust. I think, he will start with a 5 sec White Wall appearance so that we can acclimate step by step.

Thank you so much for organizing this nice project Here is my birthday message with a fanart - my first drawing of Yuzu Sadly I can't edit new videos at the moment, but you're free to include any old one from my YT channel or GDrive, if you like. I made them for Yuzu, the fandom and occasions like this.

Yup. My personal highlight of this season so far.

I'm not sure, if someone's posted it already, but another Yuzu-video has just reached 1M! Congrats! I think, this is a very nice occasion to rewatch

I think, one of the most convenient things about Yuzu's skating is: You don't need to imagine his abilities, you can witness them.
