  1. No. I'm dropping this topic right here, because it's getting out of hand and wrecking this thread. I still can't see anything offensive about that video. Although you're all saying it was a mockery of Yuzu fans, to my eyes it was not. It was a simple fluff piece, maybe not so well researched. Those facial expressions that you're all complaining about are a normal part of communication here, and nothing to be offended by. And that's it, I'm done. I will say no more.
  2. That's so awesome! I hope the invigilator went out and watched a Yuzu video afterwards.
  3. I never once implied that it was Asians. I simply said 'non-English-speaking'. It's patronising to assume that only the Asian ones deliver these criticisms.
  4. Critique, yes. What I've seen goes far beyond critique though.
  5. You seem to be implying that they should just pretend something that happened, didn't. That's not how news organizations work. Now, I don't want to derail the thread any further, so I'm stopping. Think what you will. But people are wrong to ascribe malice to any aspect of CBC coverage of Yuzu or his fans. That's not the kind of organization it is.
  6. No, I 'm saying that it's a true fact that people cry over him. The 'not so good' is referring to other things. Like fans finding his family's house in Sendai and bothering the neighbors and such, as has happened in the past.
  7. The tweet was one small part of an entire video which was positive up til then.
  8. If that's true, then why is there such a negative reaction from Yuzu fans (I'm referring to the wider fandom here, not just the Planet)as soon as a news outlet says anything about them that isn't perfectly sunshine and roses, even though it's true? I perceive, although I may be mistaken, that there is a strong inclination amongst some fans to pretend that the negative stuff doesn't happen, or at least that it's not the 'real' fans that do it. You are, of course, perfectly free to think as you wish, but that is what I perceive.
  9. I knew there was a reason I liked Yagudin....🤣
  10. it's a simple fact that some Yuzu fans get emotional about him and cry. I don't see how you could write an honest news story about Yuzu fans and leave that part out. Why would covering it be considered 'in bad taste'? It's just being honest and truthful. The reality of the Yuzuru fandom is that, like any other human activity, there will be both good and and not so good. I see no point in hiding either one. What's in 'bad taste', to me, is trying to cover up or gloss over reality just because it's inconvenient. In any case, I don't see any mockery on CBC's part in this current video, and I haven't seen the other one. I have seen quite a bit of vitriol directed at the CBC by certain twitter accounts I follow, and it's really disturbing to witness.
  11. There's that, plus his health insurance is most likely in Japan.
  12. Definitely the right thing to do, I believe!
  13. I disagree that the video was done in bad taste. But to each their own.
  14. I love where this thread is going. One more: Without Yuzuru, I would never have realized how deep my own thirst for excellence is. There's a whole story that goes with that statement that I'm not ready to tell right now. I only want to say that I'm so happy to have found this part of my character back - it was lost for many years, buried under a whhholllllleeee lot of bad experiences and negativity. Now that I have it back, I'm going to use it well.
  15. Hmm...I wonder what this means for his ankle....
  16. Also, they love Brian, Tracy, &co, so they strive to give fair coverage to their athletes.
  17. Well they're not perfect :), and thank you for understanding.
  18. That photo of him is so beautiful, but it still makes me sad. I keep thinking about the crutches lying by his feet while he posed.
  19. Apology accepted, and please understand I wasn't trying to single you out. I just thought that perhaps folks didn't realize, and wanted to let them know.
  20. @ruruzest Didn't we see it at ACI, too? Yuzu was being so gracious at the practices to all the other competitors.
  21. I was looking at his Ina Bauer the other day and wondered how many ballet dancers envy his turn out. It's amazing. Yuzu could easily be a dancer, for sure.
  22. About the CBC. There's something, I , as a Canadian, have been really surprised by since I became a Yuzu fan on the internet, and that is the level of sheer anger and hatred directed by non-English-speaking fans towards the CBC. I watch the CBC for sports all the time, and their coverage, while often held back by their lack of money (because they are government-funded), has always been positive, honest, straightforward, and as complete as they can make it. They're doing a really big, really difficult job with not enough money, staff or resources. And they don't just cover sports; they're a full network with many, many responsibilities. They cover everything from local village news in the remote North to international wars and everything in between. They may not be perfect in their coverage of Yuzuru, but they are doing their best. They do not hate him; in fact he gets remarkably positive coverage from them (probably due to Kurt being a fan), and they do not try to diss him or put him down. I have seen so many posts by foreign fans knocking the CBC down because they didn't like the coverage, but not one of those people ever stops to consider that maybe their translation is bad, and that they are not correctly understanding what the CBC has said. Or they fail to realize that the CBC is, first and foremost, a news organization - they have to report the truth, even when said truth may be inconvenient for some. It profoundly hurts me that the CBC, a gem of Canadian life, part of the fabric of Canada, gets ripped to shreds over nothing, when they don't deserve it. As for this piece about Yuzu's fans, and the retweet thing: the CBC was being complimentary. They didn't have to do a piece on Yuzu's fans at all, they could have ignored their existence. But instead, they noticed that Yuzu's fans are an interesting news story on their own, and decided to interview some of them. There was no insult or mockery in any of the coverage; it was a gentle and kindly-worded article that I found sweet and interesting. Because it was intended to be sweet and interesting. Those who are offended by this, that is your choice, but there is nothing in this coverage to take offense at. It was NOT meant that way. AS for the twitter post/ retweet: Either RT or don't, your choice. But don't think it was some cynical cheap trick to take advantage of fans for fame. The CBC has far better things to do, than that. As a Canadian Yuzu fan, I'm very offended by how many non-Canadians hate my beloved CBC over nothing. Please stop bashing them. Thank you.
  23. P&G knew what they were doing when they picked him.
  24. Don't be shy, share yours! (If you have one).
  25. That actually seems like quite a lot of food. Cooking for him would be a full time job. Also, note how little sugar it all has. Probably why his skin is good, too.
