Yeah, I didn't do my research on Roman's age before I posted....my point was that his career is just starting, so the thrill for him would be different than for Keegan. Pretty sure Keegan doesn't think of himself as over the hill though!

Well, Keegan's a lot older (I think he's 26 this year, something like that) but that would still be a thrill.

Brian did his last (public) triple axel at the age of 39, so yeah. It's a real myth that skaters have to be super-young. It's just easier for young people to devote that much time and energy to a sport, which is why so many drop out by their mid-20s.

AND 'shhhuuuuuuuu.....PAA!' you can't forget the 'shuu-paa!' It's the real secret. Joking apart, I would be interested in knowing how you build up a core that can handle a lot of the stuff figure skaters do. And not just Yuzu. Think of Shoma's cantliever. How do you even work out to be able to do that?

Yuzu needs to make a workout video about how to get that waist. The world would be a better place. The Waist. I want to touch it, AND I want to have one like it myself. I've never been so envious of anything in my life.

I don't know how I feel about the Xylitol costume. To me it's strangely reminiscent of the very bad Star Trek costumes from the original Wrath of Khan ( not the Benedict Cumberbatch remake). But I do like the sleeves.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm sorry Gabby's had to withdraw but I hope the break will help her get better. It would be a shame if she ends up not being able to compete at all this year. For the Canadian women though, this is not good news. Gabby and Kaetlyn were our best and the ones further down the ranks are more like top-20 or top-30 finishers at this point.

This discussion is reminding me of the 4lz he laid down during the 6minute warmup for (I think it was) WTT 2017 SP. He hadn't included it in his program yet but he jumped a massive beauty of a jump and it felt like he was dropping the gauntlet in challenge to the other competitors. It was basically saying 'Bring it next year, boys, 'cuz I'll be ready for ya' . IMO if he doesn't get it into his programs this year, he will definitely be cracking it out in a warm-up towards year-end. But I still think that if it's in any way ready at all, 4A is going to show up at CoR.

I actually didn't get that from what he said there. He doesn't specifically say he's UR, just that he's still working on landing the thing. So it doesn't change my prediction. But I had another thought: there's landing 4A, and then there's landing 4A in a program. I don't know what way he'd structure a program with 4A in it, but if it's his opening jump, then his practices will definitely have to include 4As in the run-through. Which means he can't do 4A in competition unless he gets to the point where it can safely be in his run-throughs. And that will take longer than just learning to land it.

I love how he says that he 'also' listens to Brian's opinions about 4A. Like, he's just your coach, Yuzu, not like you're supposed to listen to him or anything... It's a miracle any of the TCC coaches have hair left with this guy around ...

You mean if he was still 2x OGM and a Teaching Assistant, or if he were just an ordinary guy teaching assistant? I think he'd be popular either way, but one line would definitely be bigger than the other.
