  1. Took me a bit to realize, but he's playing Uma Thurman there, isn't he? From Pulp Fiction.
  2. I get a similar complex whenever his abs flash. I love them but I also want abs like them and feel very pudgy looking at him.
  3. Like the fact that anything set to Prince is automatically awesome? It might be a bit much to expect a guy to see the other obvious *cough* attributes of that costume
  4. You know, now that you mention it, I bet Yuzuru could do this and make it work. It would obviously have to be a comedy routine though, if he did.
  5. Yes but they weren't competition programs and it's been a long time since those. Also, the Humphray Bogart - Gene Kelly aesthetic might be quite fun on Zu. I went looking for images but couldn't find any copyright-free ones. But you know what I mean: sharp suit, trenchcoat, and fedora kind of thing. Obviously, adapted for skating. I kid. I like them all except the one with the tank top under the mesh shirt. That one just....didn't work out the way they hoped, I think.
  6. Well, whatever it is, I'm starting to see Canadian skater DNA in Boyang's moves and I like it. I like it a lot. It looks good on him.
  7. I must say, Seimei Hanyu-Cat is my #1 favorite piece of fanart ever. Of course. I personally love his Vertigo and HILY costumes but I know not everybody does. But H&L, Seimei 2.0, and LGC are my favorites. I have noticed that Zu never doesn't sparkle, though. I think it would be a real departure for him if he wore something very street-clothes-y as a costume.
  8. No, it's not the choreography, it's his body lines and how he's moving. He doesn't look so stiff anymore.
  9. Turns out the one I thought was Jeff was actually Shoma.
  10. So, I just watched Boyang's new SP (While My Guitar Gently Weeps) over in YouTube, and guys, it looks like he's moving completely differently. It's super exciting. It also looks, to my eyes at least, like some of the movement patterns are very Orser-esque. After seeing that, I'm willing to bet that even if he's not moving to TCC, he's been getting some kind of guidance or coaching from them somehow. Just a hunch on my part, but I really can see it in his moves.
  11. I saw that. He sounds like a coach's nightmare, tbh.
  12. See, I don't like the Ballade costume at all. I feel it does nothing for Yuzu. I guess I'm just generally not a fan of lighter blues...and to my eye he looks better in the darker colours or in white.
  13. I think I see Johnny and Jeff, but I can't figure out who the two on Yuzu's other side are.
  14. Well, don't forget that they also have to get access to him, to get footage, or an interview. And considering how much the Japanese media covers him, that might be difficult, just on account of there's only so much of Yuzu's time to go around.
  15. That'd be awesome. Sometimes during the Olympics, CBC will do short documentary fluff pieces about big-name foreign athletes to go along with their coverage of the Canadian teams and of the sports, but in recent years their budget has been kind of lean so it seems like they've stopped doing that. But to tell you to the truth, I'm surprised they haven't done a full-on Brian Orser/TCC doc for the Passionate Eye (and covered Yuzu in that). It's such a Canadian story in every regard. It's exactly the kind of thing that fits their mandate. As for NBC, expecting an American station to cover non-American athletes at any point in time is a stretch. It's just not what their audiences are after as far as I can tell.
  16. Honestly, I think it's the colour. That pale, sea foamy blue doesn't look good on anybody.
  17. Yes, I thought that when we first saw him in Dory at FaOI Makuhari. At the very least, his muscle is starting to fill out and he looks less noodle-y in the chest, shoulders and arms.
  18. Never underestimate Mr. Hanyu. Even for this.
  19. Monday is a civic holiday here in Ontario. In other words, it's a long weekend for us so I doubt there'll be an announcement Monday. Regarding TCC doing a Muskoka run: I seriously do hope Yuzu decides to go with them and gets to experience cottage country. Muskoka is like nowhere else on earth, it's the best place to be in summer. I can easily envision Yuzu kicking back and enjoying the sun dockside...
  20. In all seriousness, I think this is probably why we won't see him do Prince again. But something in a similar vein would be awesome. It's fun seeing Yuzu express his, hmm, what the Japanese might call his 'carnivorous' side. @Neenah : apologies but I have 20/400 nearsightedness and even without my glasses I can still see the 8 point font if I lean in close, so it never once occurred to me that anyone else would at all have trouble with it.
  21. Same. He as much as said he was ready to unveil a whole new self during CiONTU. Or around then. Something about skating for himself now and only doing what he wanted to do. If what he wants to do is prance around in the Purple Pants of Sin, I'm all for it.
  22. Agreed, but given the change in length of the programs, even the warhorses aren't going to be the same. The music will have to be altered to fit the program length and in general it'll all have to flow with a different rhythm (in terms of the overall dynamics of the program), so are warhorses even going to be that safe or useful of a choice? That's my thinking.
