So, who actually won? McMorris?
-
Phew! That's quite the layout. Meanwhile, somewhere in the night Yuzu's saying "Hold my beer..." (Not literal beer) and making plans...
-
Which is great, however what I was wondering is, if someone were to plan a program to get the absolute maximum points possible in an SP, how high can they go? What's the most points that can be gotten, full stop?
-
Is that a score that's even possible? Anyone know what the max score under this new system might be?
-
Gotta hand it to that app...it may vary wildly at guessing Yuzu's age but at least it's consistent in its estimation of his gender.
-
How long do you figure it took Yuzu to teach Javi Raya to do that fingers to the eyes thing correctly? Also, happy first anniversary of the double gold, Yuzu! Your achievement is all the more unique for the fact that it gave so many millions of others so much happiness as well.
-
So glad to see him, but...did anyone else wonder, like I did, whether Yuzu had even heard of the Laureus before he got nominated? The award is new to me, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that he wouldn't have heard of it before either.

If It Wasn't for Yuzuru, I'd Never Have....
rockstaryuzu replied to rockstaryuzu's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
If it weren't for Yuzu re-introducing me to watching FS, I wouldn't have had any stress relief for the past three months when I badly needed it. But figure skating ( and Yuzu videos) was there for me and I'm grateful. -
Yuzu also didn't go to Worlds last year, which gave him the time to organize Continues. This year he's competing, so he's got his hands full already. At least, that's my guess.
-
He'd RULE that ceremony!
-
Some more perspective on the Laureus. This doesn't directly relate to Yuzu, but I found it interesting to see how other nominees view it. What McKeever says here about being intimidated because athletes usually live in sweats and not tuxes is an interesting comment that could apply to Yuzu too. (Even if Yuzu does have that lovely formal hakama now.) Brian Mckeever nominated for Laureus

"Javi sitting with him in the K & C" --> I'd pay all the money to see that happen, but it's never going to happen.... Maybe one day in the distant future if they end up coaching together...
-
Wow, really? That's a lot of chocolate for a sports club to have to process.... I can't help but think it would be so much easier for Yuzu if all people sent him by mail were postcards with no return address...he doesn't even have to open those, just read them.
-
He's probably enjoying quality time with Ice-chan, as usual.
-
The good thing is, I won't need to take time off work for the FS. The SP, though...maybe I should just book the week off anyway.
-
What makes me laugh the most about that is that is the quality of the language used...must be a Google Translate special. In reality, we can predict all we want but no one knows what'll happen at Worlds. Ice is slippery. I know Yuzu's going to do everything in his power to win, and that's a force to be reckoned with, and that's all I need to know.

Autumn Classic was pretty cheap. I think I paid $60 or $65 CDN for two days, all access. The price is probably dependent on where they hold it though - so far it's been at smaller suburban rinks. If it came to one of the big arenas, I'd predict the price to double.

The one thing that really stands out is the length of Shoma's 3A compared to the others....besides that, the data looks like it's all over the place...no real correlations between, say length & speed or height & length or GOE to any of them. I'd be curious to see a longitudinal study of jump data for one skater over a full season or two, to see how reproducible their results are (i.e. are jumps actually 'consistent'). Because at the moment, what I see in this data is that each and every last jump by each skater is a unicorn. None of them is like any of the others.
-
Who can do the most 3A's in a row! But the organizers are probably going to be party-poopers and try to hustle the skaters off the ice before anything fun can happen...seems to be a bit of a theme this year...
-
I bet Artyunyan wishes he had Yuzu to coach! Probably easier than coaching some of the athletes he does have.
-
I tend to agree. Remember 4Lo is 'his' jump - he was the first to land one in competition. It seems reasonable to think that he's not giving that up without a fight...

LGC. All the iterations. It's what really turned me into a Yuzu fan. Also Parisienne Walkways Sochi performance. HYK Helsinki and above all, the most perfect free skate there ever will be, Hope & Legacy from Worlds 2017. You will never, and I mean never, see a finer skating performance until Yuzu goes perfect on Origin.

I think the same, but I also think that what made it so touching was that Shoma finally is letting us all see how much he really wants to win. I feel like he's matured a lot this year. It's as if he's finally made up his own mind about why he's competing and what his goals are. But at the same time, I don't want him to change too much. His calm attitude is part of his charm.

Yeah...

But in all honesty, using it to describe a man's size, as it were, is not really a different usage of the emoji, which really just means 'small' and can refer to anything you wish
