Fact: the creator of Yuri On Ice has stated outright that she based Yuri on Tatsuki Machida. So Yuzuru doesn't match up with Yuri in any way (although there are definitely some articles out there saying he does). But I can see why someone who likes anime but doesn't know figure skating would think it is him.

Hmm. Just because they really should support her, doesn't mean they will. In its own way, gymnastics is even worse than figure skating when it comes to this type of thing.

I have morbid curiosity as to why they think that this time, as opposed to all the other times they thought that and were wrong. To answer my own question, they are probably doing it for the clicks.

And not just him, and not just skating. I find all of this stuff so interesting, in every sport. How do you go from doing what everyone else at your level does, to doing what no one else can? It's a fascinating subject.

Hearing him say that he has to train carefully, without getting injured, for the 4A, actually reassures me a lot. And how he's calculated how much strength and effort is needed for everything. He's being super-scientific about getting this 4A. He should write a research paper when he's done. Something like Observations on the Process of Extreme Achievement in High Performance Sport .

On the surface of it, there's nothing strange about Nobu insisting on this. I suspect this is only the tip of the iceberg...

I think they're one of those teams you have to see in person to get it. They came to SOI in Ottawa this spring and did one of their 2018 programs, and while watching them from the 6th row it was instantly apparent to me why they won Worlds. Their edges are so deep, smooth, and long, it's like ripples of silk going by. No one else is doing that right now.

(but not really) Does anyone have any suggestion for how to make a screen capture from a 480p video look a bit sharper and with better colour before trying to print it as a photo/sticker? Preferably using Paint or some other easily downloadable free software that works on Windows 7? If I can do this, I'll have a lovely Yuzu photo to share at SCI...

His skin tone is always way off in these pictures - like they deliberately mis-lit the studio to make him look mushroomy.

The whole shirt is ridiculously oversized and looks like they lined it with cardboard to make him look bigger.
