  1. It's at times like these that I'm forced to remember that the ISU is, in essence, a volunteer organization, and like all volunteer organizations, is not run by the best people for the job, or the smartest, but by the ones who want the job bad enough...who are usually people with a vested interest in certain outcomes. So decisions are made accordingly. That being said, just because they decide to go ahead with it doesn't mean the skaters are going to participate.
  2. Latest Romsky. He talks about the difficulty and uncertainty of training programs when you don't even know if there's going to be a season.
  3. The real open question is the fairness and transparency of judging in such a set up.
  4. Maybe this is what Eteri had planned all along? If so, that's low. ...like, Tonya Harding's ex-husband giving Nancy Kerrigan a club to the knee, low.
  5. In one of Roman's early return-to-ice vlogs after the lockdown, he said that he was limiting his spin training to two a day because they make him nauseous and sometimes he bursts capillaries in his skin because of the centripetal forces of the spin forcing the blood in his face outward. If it's like that, I wouldn't want to train spins either.
  6. ...is it bad that I popped by this thread tonight just in the hopes of finding more Russian tea?
  7. Nam has posted an extremely cute puppy pic:
  8. I fear for Tracy's hair... she's the only one of Yuzu's coaches who has any left!
  9. I see. If that's the case, then yes, I would assume Plush has the better connections for such purposes. That being said, if this were the issue, then why leave so suddenly. Surely this kind of conflict could be handled more smoothly and with official announcements? My own guess is that Alena realized she'd be stuck playing Medvedeva to Scherbakova's Zagitova in a full repeat of the lead up to Pyeongchang, and that she decided not to go along with it. But there's a lot of other possibilities, from needi g specifically to work with Rozanov on 3A to some kind of triggering incident (ie harassment, etc) having happened. And we'll probably never know for sure which it is.
  10. I don't understand why coaches are said to be involved in sponsorship deals at all. Surely that's between the skater and the company doing the sponsoring? Nothing to do with the coach.
  11. No idea. It's just something I heard. There's little rhyme or reason to anything YouTube does.
  12. Sure, but imagine being one of his coaches and seeing that!
  13. Speaking for myself, I simply assumed from the beginning that Yuzu went home to Sendai at the very earliest opportunity after World's got cancelled. There was zero reason for him to stay in Canada, and he had work to do in Japan. I didn't do that out of a need to pinpoint his location or anything like that. It's just that it was the sensible and logical thing for him to do, and despite him being a madman who challenges 4A, he does seem to be a sensible and logical person otherwise. Of course we won't get *official* confirmation. We don't need it. It's not our business.
  14. YouTube is planning to get rid of community subtitling, I heard on Twitter. So translation might get a bit more difficult to find.
  15. Given that at this point, Yuzu seems to be Ice Rink Sendai's biggest donor, I can't imagine him having trouble getting ice time there...
  16. She'll just find a fresh crop of gullible kids to start over with.
  17. Possibly. It's also entirely possible they put their whole 'Volunteers' page on autopilot months ago and this is just coming up automatically...either way, I'll soon find out. As for Skate America, I can't see how they expect to hold it. My understanding is that Las Vegas has been hit by COVID pretty badly....unless they move it to somewhere less infected? Alaska, maybe?
  18. On that note, SCI just opened their call for volunteers and I submitted my application. Who knows if it'll take place but at least I have my dog in the race, so to speak...
  19. My dear satellites, I'm now simultaneously in both tears and stitches!!!
  20. Something on the pipe organ, played heavily in minor key, set off by violin wails and orchestral screams. Maybe with a few bats flying around for good measure.
  21. Lucky Plush, now he'll have all these built-in babysitters/extra coaches for Sasha.
  22. The only part of this post by T*L that isn't obvious from the available news is the 'I heard on Monday' part, which of course is unverifiable.
  23. A not-quite quad FLutz solves all the world's ills, don't you know. Eh. They were probably thinking something along the lines of having 3A do side-by-side, well, 3A. Or some such
  24. We respect your sacrifice. *Katniss Everdeen salute*
