  1. I also agree that timing is crucial. Since it seems that ISU is pretty much free to do as they please without much accountability (other than to the big Feds I guess), people have recommended appealing to the IOC. However, the IOC is currently up to their eyeballs dealing with the impact of COVID on the Olympics, so they are not going to have time to be concerned about scoring issues related to a single sport. ISU knows Yuzu is their cash cow, but they will also do whatever it takes to hold on to their jobs and their power. If they think Yuzu or his fans endanger that, I have no doubt in my mind that they won't hesitate to do everything in their power to push him out. It's fanyus that are making them look bad: pointing out the scoring issues, calling out the inadequate bubble for Worlds, complaining about the Skating Awards, etc. We're giving them bad PR at every turn, and at a certain point, they may think that having Yuzu around is more trouble than it's worth. If they get rid of Yuzu, a lot of his fans will go with him, and then no more bad PR for the ISU, or at least it will be greatly reduced. It would be different if Yuzu at least has JSF support, but he doesn't, and the AI scoring/scoring reforms endanger their ability to play regional politics as well. Ngl, I don't feel comfortable doing this sort of thing while Yuzu is still competing. As long as he wants to compete (even with lowball scores and stuff), I want him to have that chance. I don't want anything we do to screw up his plans and what he wants to do.
  2. Here is a translation of Yuzu's thesis excerpt. It looks like a translation from Japanese to Spanish to English. [NEWS]
  3. Happy 4th Anniversary, Planet Hanyu!!! Thank you admins, mods, and all the lovely satellites for making the Planet such a fun and special place where we can support and cheer for Yuzu together!
  4. It would have been +1 more, but I couldn't download it because the site wouldn't load for me. Although I don't know why I'm trying to get a copy cuz I can't read it either. ETA: Seems like Russian media downloaded it too, and they are dragging Eteri into it... well, if the shoe fits...
  5. Apparently, it's a shorten version of the thesis and not the complete thesis. ETA: And it's already been downloaded 4723 times. This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  6. UA shows off The Waist ™ the best. There should be lots of pretty pics of the waist in the new photobook. The first couple of times I watched LGC, I wasn't able to see the program clearly because the PPOS was just too distracting. It wasn't until I found a practice video of Yuzu doing a run-through of LGC in UA that I was finally able to see the program properly.
  7. And while we're talking about Yuzu videos/clips that have millions of views, this Pooh rain has 6.5 million views.
  8. I just purchased a 3-day subscription to JapanTV and everything seems to be working. Make sure to give yourself some time to do this in advance so you'll have time to receive the code, download the app, register your account, etc. After you pay, the authorization code is displayed in a popup box, so you get it pretty quick.
  9. Iirc, it was the reason why I finally created a PH account. I had been lurking since PC Olys, but I was desperate to get info on how I could watch the parade and you had to sign in to see the links or something. It was also my first post to the planet when I said the parade T-shirt I ordered arrived that day so I was able to wear it while watching the parade.
  10. I gave it another view when it was just shy of 16M.
  11. There are actually quite a few skaters here. Check out this thread.
  12. Ugh. It's even worst than that. They are selling tickets for people to go watch in the theaters too. It's like they don't care about human life at all. Yes, and hopefully no community spread either.
  13. I hope that when he says he's not landing it, it doesn't mean that he's falling all the time. Maybe he pops a lot, or steps out, or turns out, or hand-down, or low-knee save... stuff like that which I think he would consider "not landing it". I think it makes more sense for him to focus on 4A rather than a 3rd OGM. He has full control over 4A. Whether or not he can do it depends solely on him. Whether or not he can win competitions or Olympic Gold is not fully in his control. The judges decide and we know how they score these days. He knows this also. In addition, Yuzu likes to be the first to do things, or be the only one who can do it. 4A falls into this category. Even if he wins a 3rd OGM, he will not be the first one to do that, so it's not as big of an achievement as being the 1st one to land 4A. Plus 4A is his childhood dream. I'd rather he train 4A under the watchful eyes of a coach rather than by himself though. I think it's safer and Ghislain can watch how he's jumping and give him advice. Also he knows when to tell him to stop and get some rest and try again the next day. Whether he decides to return to Canada or he decides to stay in Japan, I hope he can train 4A safely and realize his dream.
  14. There was this tweet: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
  15. I agree. I really like the first watch because it is so unique and has a lot of Yuzu meaning in its design. I like the Origin watch too, but it looks more like a regular watch to me. In fact my watch is similar. It's all black with gold hands and markings for the numbers, but it's a ladies watch so it's smaller and might even be slightly smaller than the Swanyu watch. I've always liked small, thin watches, but now my eyes are not as good, so I can't go for watches that are too small these days. I think the Eco-drive mechanism in the Citizen watches also make them a bit thicker, although I want one as a backup watch when the battery is running out in my current watch and I don't have time to replace it (like right now. Lol) I really want an Origin 2.0 design. I hope they will do that next... but only if I can actually get my hands on one!
  16. I remember they had just released 2020 Montreal Worlds ticket prices at that time and we were all "No way I'm paying those ridiculous prices!" Then I saw Masquerade, and I completely did a 180 and was like, "FINE!, I'll pay the damn ransom if there was any possibility that Yuzu might include Masquerade as his SP or EX and I could see it live at Worlds.
  17. Yuzu said there were pros and cons to training by himself in Sendai. Pros: He has the whole rink to himself for training 4A. You need space to train that monster and it will be harder to do that at TCC where he is sharing the rink with other skaters. I recall someone (Jun, Jason, Joseph?) saying they had to be careful not to kill each other when practicing their quads. He can play his music whenever he wants to and practice his run-throughs. He has the freedom to plan his practice any way he wants. Cons: Lack of physiotherapy help after practice. This is probably because he practices at midnight, so he can't get help during those hours. This part worries me because he needs this if he's training 4A. There's no one to give him feedback when he wants some. Having a second pair of eyes and a different perspective can be a huge help sometimes. I'm sure he would like to get Ghislain's advice on 4A. He didn't like practicing all by himself sometimes. There are good days and bad days, and when practice isn't going well, you need someone to give you some support and a nice pep talk. No one has mentioned Tracy, but I see so many times when she is such a warm presence, and she was there backstage comforting Yuzu when he had a bad skate. He said he was thinking about all this and hasn't made a decision. When the borders reopen, maybe he might want to return to Toronto, but not full time. I can see him returning to Canada and training there for a while if he gets assigned to SCI, or if he wants to do ACI, and then returning to Japan if he gets NHK. Wow. That's quite a size difference!
  18. I can't see how they can hold WTT. It's insane to hold that event with an audience during these conditions.
  19. This looks a lot like my watch. That's cool because now I don't have to cry about not being able to get it like the previous watch! ISU probably gets the most money from contracts with the big broadcasters, like NBC, CBC, Fuji, etc. So using iSakura and watching the broadcast doesn't cut your support. The only way to do that is to find an unofficial stream or wait until a fan uploads to YouTube. On the other hand, it's still satisfying to see low view counts on their official videos though.
  20. Awww, your mom's nickname is so cute! My mom calls him Yoyo. I often think of him as Zuzu or Zazura. I'm sure he's conflicted about attending WTT and SOI also. All I will say is I trust him to carefully consider all his options, obligations, risks & consequences, etc. and make the best choice, and I support his decision 100%. I was thinking the same thing that it would be hard for him to shake properly with that choreo. As for whether or not forum rules allow discussion of this important topic, we can certainly discuss it because we're talking about, ahem, choreo. And we also need lots of pictures and visuals to determine whether or not muscle mass will impact the execution of said choreo. I was also at SCI '19 PW and I can confirm that Yuzu killed that entire section of the audience when he tossed that smirk at us. We must have all turned into zombies though because we kept screaming.
  21. For new fanyus, here's a good thread about what to expect for the Olympic season. The best thing to do is ignore them and understand that it's their strategy to stir up drama to get more clicks, views, and attention so they can spread their narratives. It's better to surround yourself with positive people and content instead. Block, block, block all the bad stuff. And here's cute Yuzu to cheer you up.
  22. Donovan is going to the Olympics. Google Translate: Today the ISU announced my qualification for the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. I want to thank @CONADE and especially to @AnaGGuevara for trusting me and supporting me on this path.
  23. My favorite was last year at the start of the pandemic when all the hand sanitizers were sold out, someone made a thread of Yuzu as hand sanitizers.
  24. Here's the WTT schedule if you don't want to give ISU a click: This post has been tagged by yuzuangel as [NEWS].
