I bet Skate Canada would love to get him. They lost out big last year having to cancel almost all of their events including Worlds, ACI, and SCI. Kelowna mentioned how hosting SCI in 2019 boosted their economy. Russian press also mentioned in 2019 how the arena for Rostelecom looked emptier because of the lack of Fanyus. This might have been for the Men's event though, since the Eteri girls are pretty popular in Russia. There were rumors in the 2018-19 season that the French fed was trying to negotiate a deal with JSF to send Yuzu to IDF in exchange for the French sending Papadakis/Cizeron to NHK. And someone else mentioned that Yuzu hasn't competed in China since 2015, so there's definitely a pent-up demand to see him there, plus his presence can be used to highlight the upcoming Beijing Olys. Yes, I can see JSF giving NHK to Yuma to position him as a top contender for the Olys. They can also assign Shoma to NHK to help with ratings. Personally, I hope Yuzu doesn't get assigned to COR. Being vaccinated doesn't mean you can't get COVID (esp. with the new variants floating around), it just means you're not likely to get a severe case. So a mild or moderate case can still knock you out for a week or 2, and COR is right before GPF with JNats not far behind. With all the uncertainty, I wonder if it would be better for ISU to make assignments similar to last season, where the skaters compete locally if possible.

Maybe, but they didn't send Yuma to WTT. I expected them to send Yuzu and Yuma, but they sent Shoma instead and the only reason I can think of why they did that is because Shoma has a bigger fan base. ISU and the feds lost a lot of money last year because of events being canceled. I'm thinking they're going to want to maximize their profits this season to recoup some of that lost.

Cup of China is in Chongqing. Asian Open on Oct 13-17 is in Beijing and is the OWG Test Event, so maybe he might want to do that instead of ACI? But that doesn't give him much time to go to Canada if he's assigned to SCI. ETA: Also don't know about China's travel restrictions, so it will depend on that.

One of my favorites! Hang in there. Hope things improve for you soon! Yuzu should be able to attend Skate Canada and NHK at least. Shingo recently returned to TCC with a 14-day quarantine, so if Yuzu returns to Canada and completes his quarantine early, he should be able to attend ACI and SCI if assigned there. Also he should be fully vaccinated by end of August according to the JSF memo. Currently tickets are not being sold for ACI, but vaccination rates are pretty good in Canada, so if things keep improving, maybe they can loosen restrictions for SCI.

Here is Skate Canada's reply to my question about the chance of selling ACI tickets if government restrictions are lifted: I also think that ACI is unlikely, but hoping for a chance of SCI+Yuzu. I hope Yuzu will get his shot soon if he hasn't already gotten it. I will breathe a sigh of relief knowing that he's protected.

I wrote to Skate Canada asking if they would sell ACI tickets if the government restrictions were lifted in the near future or if they don't plan to sell tickets regardless. Waiting for their reply. I don't know how much time in advance they need in order to plan for an audience, but I hope they can do it and we will be able to see Yuzu if he attends!
