  1. https://www.twitter.com/gototaisuke/status/960711231165186048 It says when TV Asahi asked Brian about Yuzu’s form, he said “I think he’ll return to 100%.” (The tone is sort of speculative and I’m not sure my translation conveys it accurately. Maybe someone can do better?)
  2. I’m also wondering why speak at this time. Maybe it’s because most teams are already in PyeongChang, and it’s too late for his main rivals to make any substantial change to their training/layout accordingly? Ah, when I read that his other jumps are going so well it’s surprising Brian, and they’re of course aiming for gold speechless bliss
  3. OK this is sort of hearsay, but I’m just bringing anything that might water us here for discussion... A Patrick fan posted her recent photo with Tracy on weibo, and in the post she mentioned that Tracy says Yuzu is in good condition and definitely going to the Olys. A tiny seam on the Great Veil of the Hanyu Mystery. Now they’ll force her to take the secrecy training course all over again! Well, not really any new info, but soothing words from soothing Tracy~
  4. Now I come to revise myself re:the above post. I think I took the wording too seriously... The Hochi one was one of the first to come out, but later reports, like Sankei, said that according to jsf, his recovery went pretty well and the decision was only to avoid risking his ankle. But I think you guys are right on that anything not directly from him or his team ultimately doesn’t mean much. Phewww, that panic hit a bit hard...
  5. I read the sports hochi article and also refered to some translation I saw. The wording is that his recovery is a lot later than expected, and they’re opting out of TE to avoid extra burden on his body. So it is for the reason that we fear. Nevertheless, all the pros discussed above still stands. Also, Yuzu as we know, heals slowly but peaks fast. This is always getting more dramatic when you think it can’t anymore. Talk about Yuzu the JUMP Manga Hero™️. As someone who’s going to sit in the stadium, I feel like walking into Narnia (under the rule of the white witch....) or something. I’m prepared to explode into a firework before he steps on the ice. Well, being the manga hero that he is, don’t they always come back from the most impossible of situations? Like Uchimura said, when it comes down to it, “the one with the strongest heart will win.” Mental strength is what sets him apart.
  6. It was a different set of colors back then Completely re-decorated for the Olympics!
  7. I think the retirement news is true, because on the one hand the media that posted it is a credible one, and on the other hand, some time ago there was also news that in her home town, a big skating center is under construction and will be named after her, with her father as one of the major investors. Guess she will probably start coaching or learn to manage the rink from now on!
  8. Today and yesterday Team China held a pair skating open practice for skating fans to see finished programs. According to reports I saw online, yesterday sh, yz & pj all did great in their short programs. But today in lp all the men formed a failure solidarity.😂 Han fell on 3S and popped into 3t1t1t (while Sui landed all her single jumps!), Jin fell on 3S, and Zhang failed on a lift. Hope they adjust well before departing for PyeongChang!
  9. I remember a couple of pages ago we were wondering about Yuzu’s swimming ability and whether he had to take P.E. classes in school? According to this interview with his middle school teacher, probably to avoid injuries during competitive seasons, Yuzu mostly didn’t participate in P.E. classes even though he liked them. During those periods he would do activities with Special Support Student Group (students with physical or mental disability). Also, one of the teachers there was named Daisuke Takahashi and they would often joke around, Yuzu asking him “advice on step sequence please?”
  10. Regarding our glasses talk before - I’m seeing tidbits of translation of the magazine’s content on weibo, and apparently those glasses are not some photo shooting props, but Yuzu’s own! Awwww this is putting images into my head...
  11. Hope Sota will come back to join, being the head of all fanboys.
  12. The tension of the approaching games is so high nowadays! Maybe we can get it out a little by put the terrifying and the miraculous into words. For me, the best case would simply be this picture happening again at PyeongChang gala: It will be hard for all of them. Yuzu and Zhenya just came back from injuries, with Yuzu landing straight on Olympic ice and Zhenya losing her EC title to Alina. GPF showed us how judges are turning towards PC and away from VM, and how SH cannot afford any mistake facing SM. But they are all true champions. I believe they’ll rise to the occasion no matter what. Oh, and to add some icing on my dream scenario cake, Patrick and Boyang on both sides of Yuzu. One can always dream... Worst case would be the above not happening at all And judges don’t call things which lead to podium-changing consequences. A very debatable men’s podium that lead to great chaos a la Sochi ladies’. I shiver just imagining that. I would say that Sochi men’s happening again is the worst case but... I honestly wouldn’t care if that ends up with the same champion Of couse that would be a very kuyashii champion... but that’s still a lot better than the worst case.
  13. Yuzu is indeed a little short-sighted, as are a lot other skaters, because ice reflecting lights does things to people’s eyes apparently. In documentaries as well as when people run into him in daily life, he often wears glasses. But those glasses in the picture are obviously put on him by some stylist
  14. We’ve seen Korean media loving Yuzu for a long time, but now they compare him to Yuna and that love’s carved in stone She’s so revered in Korea that the other day a celebrity that thumbed up a picture of Sotnikova holding Sochi gold was scolded to the point she closed her account As a fan of both skaters I keep seeing parallels in their situations. Defending Olympic champions missing most of the season’s first half because of injury faces the challenge from younger technicians pushed by very powerful federations... I just hope Yuzu can do what Yuna did in Sochi, i.e. leave two performances for the ages, and get a different (and right) result this time. After all, he took his first gold only as a starting point and stayed at the top of technical development from the 3-quad era to the 7-quad era. That’s something nobody else’s done before, that gives him the power to force judges’s hands.
  15. That’s the same outfit in the Kumamoto photo isn’t it? But maybe he’s just really attached to it...😂
  16. In PJ's recent podcast, Shae said that unlike most skaters, Yuzu implements jumps in the process of choreographing, to see how it works with the rest of the program. (I'm rephrasing here.) I think it goes along with Yuzu's repeatedly stated idea that jumps are transitions too, an integral part of the performance no different from any other parts. (edit: after spending the last 5 minutes staring at the new pic... I'm seeing Nathan's sp costume (or was it lp?) on Yuzu and I can't unsee it now???)
  17. Ahhhhh Yuzu after ninja-ing longer than an off-season, finally I think last time I posted was before NHK but hey a sight of Yuzu and I'm back here guys
  18. Just bringing some of the posts I find most reassuring here from the NHK thread, for poor worrying souls who can't catch up with that one...
  19. Glad they're renovating, for the sorta-dim lighting and the lame sound effect made me worried... But no worries now. They care a LOT about appearances in big international events and it will be good. (And to drag it back on topic here: Though the chances of Yuzu skating till 2022 is very, very low, I often think of one of the scenarios that could make it happen. That is if ISU changes the rules after Pyeongchang in a way that allows athletes in their late twenties to stay highly competitive. If he finds new areas (e.g. aside from jumps) to challenge and knows he's still in contention for gold, that might lure him to stay.)
  20. Haha, these posts are moved here from the general chat (couldn't access this thread bc forum tech issues), and the very post before it was about during his house cleaning Kazuki finding a note Yuzu wrote him back in 2011.
  21. So, so nervous for that. They're just gone literally in a split second...
  22. Use the "insert other media" button at the bottom right corner.
  23. It's so out of blue... He seemed to have collected himself the day after the LP... I hope it has nothing to do with any new injury. Anyway, still waiting for comments from himself. Maybe he can set his eyes on the Olympic team event...
  24. Omg it seems that Patrick withdraw from NHK???
