Salty that Seimei choreo sequence isn't there...
-
I'm really amazed that they managed to pull it off. Knowing what Yuzu fans are like, looking for the slightest hint of anything in anybody's social media. And remember that friends and relatives of TCC members go there, too. So all of their social media must have been checked by TCC, too. Incredible. And it worked. I'm also laughing because it was basically TCC with Brian the only visible point up against the entire US fed PR machine, and it was a KO.

Thanks to Yuzu, one of the possibly ten Japanese words I know is yonkaiten. You know, the usual tourist phrases - hello, goodbye, thank you, quad.
-
Now probably exhausted and image training his yonkaiten axel. He'll come back and land it. I am so relieved that he seems okay with missing Worlds if he has to, and giving rehab the time it needs finally. He mighthave had some setback because of how much he pushed himself. Now he has time to make that up and get better. My overwhelming feeling is relief that he can finally take the time to heal at the pace his ankle sets without pushing it. We can look forward to him coming back and watching him without being terrified because when he does, he really will be ready.

I'm almost in as much awe of how they handled him and the media as I am of his performance. It was all perfectly executed. And flying under the radar helped Javi, too. It was good for both the TCC boys. I don't know how they managed the Junhwan expectations as the home skater, but they obviously did a great job judging by the performances he turned in, too. Gold for TCC, really. They deserve gold.

OT and inappropriate, but... TCC has far better systems and processes, and security, and possibly background checks and better hiring processes, than the White House. I know, low-hanging fruit. But it's true.
-
The fact that there were NO LEAKS from TCC at all to counter Brian's last minute PR offensive, aided beautifully by Yuzu's obvious joy that he was there and could go for his dream, even if his ankle was shaky - it's amazing. TCC team is incredible.

I really like my sleep. But I also lose sleep when I'm worried, so I'm always playing catch up. heh We all got trolled by Brian after all, eh? Doing two to three runthroughs a day, training normally, lol! We got trolled good. Even when we admitted that we shouldn't completely believe anything coming from Brian in the last couple of weeks, we chose to believe him. But it was necessary, I think, because there needed to be no doubts about his condition, even if it wasn't true.

I slept for 13 hours. And woke up with no hangover, and let me admit freely and frankly, I deserve a hangover today for celebrating very very well on no sleep at all. It's a Yuzu miracle. I believe in Yuzu miracles. He'll be fine.

Would not be even a little surprised. Then he'd do it, too.

Wonder if the Japan 1-2 for men's will boost Satoko's PCS.

But the damn troll, the 2018 Olympics was his childhood dream until now. He got it and the yonkaiten axel is his childhood dream now. Bloody hell, Yuzu, did you spend all the non-skating time of your childhood coming up with very, very lofty and seemingly impossible dreams?
-
We knew he'd do anything he had to because this Olympics was his biggest career goal. He took the risks knowingly. He got the reward. Now he has time to heal, and we know he will get the very, very best care and they will treat his ankle like the national treasure that it is. Then he will recover, and we'll see him back on the ice when he's ready, knowing he's not pushing himself too hard to achieve his dream which felt like a ticking time bomb that he had to defuse at some point. Now it's gone. That clock is gone. He will take care of himself now. And anyway, twenties might be no longer that young for skaters, but 23 is very young for, you know, regular human beings. He's in his prime physically, so he will heal. His mind will be more at peace now that he's got the second OGM. That will help his body heal, too. There won't be so much stress anymore.

Jack's piece is also really nice: https://www.japantimes.co.jp/sports/2018/02/17/olympics/winter-olympics/olympics-figure-skating/majestic-yuzuru-hanyu-defends-olympic-figure-skating-title/#.WogV2JqgfIV

I think the cat is trying to say "Master, I'm here. I'm here, I await your orders. Master! I'm here! I wait!"
-
As long as it doesn't strain his ankle and he can wear his mask, I suppose...
-
Ikr, it's startlingly well balanced. Nice to Nathan, objective about Yuzu, nice enough to Shoma and Javi. How's your flu, btw? I hope you're better.

Confession time because I need to let it out somewhere, under spoiler.

Guys, was this posted? Sorry, the explosions everywhere are too much to keep up with. But the NY Times has an actually good piece here: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/16/sports/olympics/figure-skating-yuzuru-hanyu.html

I abandoned my diet a while ago. Good for you, though!
-
Yay?
-
Let us hope our tears tomorrow and the day after are only of joy. And indigestion.
-
On the other hand how unlucky would you be not to have either!

I'm not calm. My composition is part antacids now.
