  1. Quite possible. But I don't know if they would really do that, because they can get bonus for backloading now too, and they still tend to do the higher difficulty quads first. Falls are penalised more - in PCS as well, though this will only disadvantage those who get 9.5-10 now, not many do, basically Yuzu/Javi - so even with the new proposals of reduced time, one jumping pass fewer, changed BV, would they really do it? Would they have the stamina to do it? If I were making a sensible layout for a four-quad skater, I'd still put two out of 4F, 4Lz and 4Lo in the beginning, whichever ones they really have, and I'd keep it solo. I'd have one 3A the first half as well, with steps and entry out of choreo sequence maybe, to really maximise the GOE, then have a 4S. For the second half, put a 3A in combo (possibly lo-3F/S), a 4T-2T/3T combo because more four-quad jumpers are very comfortable with 4T, and a 3Lz-3T/2T combo. Or maybe put the 4S in combo in the first half to not put pressure to land all combos in the second, or the 3A combo in the first half if they're not that solid with the 3A. But generally, I'd put the harder quads solo in the first half, then a less hard one in combo, then a 3A. Second half would have one easier quad with option of adding combo if it failed earlier, and two triple combos. Working with the proposals that were passed, that would be a more sensible layout than putting Lz/F in the second half when landing them would be really difficult. At the most, I'd put one of them in the second half.
  2. I don't think we'll see too many quad combos with the new rule. There are solo triples in all those layouts, wouldn't it be less risky to tack combo 3T/2T onto the triple, backloaded to get bonus on the combo? And we might see more 3A-Lo-3F. Shoma has done that the Lo-3F combo. ETA: Sorry, this is OT. I don't know how to move it to gen skating after posting, though.
  3. This one? https://www.isu.org/docman-documents-links/isu-files/documents-communications/isu-communications/17142-isu-communication-2168/file
  4. When I read protocols after events, when I'm CERTAIN I've found the US judge and look up who's who on Skating Scores, I find that it's the Japanese judge who marked THEIR OWN skaters too low. They do nothing to counter biased judging against their skaters. Which is admirable and honourable and all that but it's also so fudging idiotic. By now, I wouldn't even be surprised if Japan introduced an emergency proposal to introduce slo-mo replay to distinguish pre-rotation, to go with everything else. (I wish somebody would.) ISU's fear of technology and insistence on perfect procedure (because priorities) might be all that's stopping Japan fed from shooting themselves in the foot. Feet, both of them.
  5. Tbh I don't understand the motivations behind Japan's proposals or voting. I don't even understand their judges' judging. If there's a plan or any logic that might benefit their skaters, it's far too advanced for me.
  6. He's a couple of years older than my siblings so I refuse to be an auntie.
  7. (I have to credit @SparkleSalad for the performance art crack, she's the one who put it in my head after watching the stream for a while.) But he does have a 4Flz. Pre-rotated. A practice video was uploaded a while back, I think they didn't include it in competition at all because of the Olympic season. The way judging works, that'll be just fine.
  8. No wonder we can't have bikes on ice for Yuzu to finally learn how to ride them. Newfangled things like wheels? Burn it with fire!
  9. I wish we could send in proposals. I have a few. They might need to put a PG rating on the stream for one or two directly addressed to the council.
  10. I think I understand. This is in fact performance art. It's not supposed to make sense. ETA: My favourite part of the performance is when they add the little preamble/postscript of 'this was a proposal that was not passed two millenia ago, just saying, fyi, things never change, it's not like you bring it up again because that decision was wrong, once done never undone.
  11. That sounds very much like the rest of it. I gave up after a while today, it's all so... meandering and spiraling and getting nowhere! And all of those 'this was brought before the Congress 1640307 years ago and was not passed' as postscripts to proposals. Wonderful justification, and anyway, maybe it wasn't passed because 75% of proposals were withdrawn! Like this time! I wanted to scream. I might actually have screamed and startled the dogs.
  12. There we go, Eteri gets her 'revenge' by bringing forth the quad from an actual senior who did not noticeably improve on her jumps at TCC! If it works out for Lil Bet, I'll be happy, tbh. She's old enough to know what she's getting into now, she's making the choice, so fingers crossed for her. At least she's definitely through puberty. Pray for her hip injury to heal well.
  13. Sure but Lilbet is through puberty and has kept her ideal Team Tutberidze physique, so Eteri might finally have a senior girl who can jump the 4S. If they let her recover from that hip injury completely and get back to her best condition.
  14. The council are all so incredibly patronising and condescending, though. I nearly ground my teeth down watching some of it. And the voting took sooo long. Ladies was not discussed, when will that be?
  15. Yeah, that's the one. ETA: Oops sorry! Double post!
  16. Nope, I didn't hear any such thing. Wow, they really do not want to make the technical proposals democratic.
  17. Yeah, but it slipped out when I think Prins asked if the objective was to... discourage quads? I'm not sure what word he used, but something like that, and the guy kind of automatically said no, to reduce.
  18. But did you notice how part of the real intention slipped out, from the technical chap? Reduce the number of quads. Covered up immediately with not the main intention, it's not the main aim, blah blah.
  19. They couldn't be more obvious if they tried. They don't give a duck. I like the tall chap from New Zealand too. The way he made the point about pauses in short dance to people who were obviously condescending to him was very entertaining.
  20. And Fabio went mumblemumblecontroversialmumble.
  21. Looks like the steps before solo jump might be no more, but I'd be surprised if quad repetition proposal passes. Shout out to the chap who asked why repeating triples does not affect variety.
  22. This is the most boring thing I have ever seen in my life.
  23. I woke up this morning suddenly okay with the proposal to take away the steps before solo jump in SP requirement. At the moment, Yuzu has complex steps into his solo jump and he gets nothing for it that anybody who has no steps or very simple kinda-steps doesn't also get. It doesn't apply for positive GOE for that jump, obviously, and judges don't make the compulsory deduction. This way, those who do have complex steps, and Yuzu will, can at least get a GOE bullet for it instead of being treated exactly the same as those who have no steps. It's not ideal but seeing how judging works right now, rewarding those steps might be the only practical thing to do, since punishing the lack of them is simply not happening if your fed has any power. (Yes I've been watching LGC and getting annoyed with how those beautiful 4Lo entries got the same credit as many other entries that had no steps.)
  24. I don't think Hersh would misquote. He absolutely would not. No respectable journalist would do that and like him or not, he is one of those. But he would cherrypick quotes and throw them into the article where it would have most impact, and his way of most impact is not necessary 'intends to convey what the interviewee really meant '. So if he put a floating quote in there with no context, I do think the context would explain things that are making us scratch our heads. He leaves wiggle room, like his contexts for the GOAT thing, sentences with half quotes and half his own interpretations put together but with quotes placed correctly. Tbh they all do that.
