  1. Aww, we should plan to go skating together sometime tho Also I haven't been skating that much this winter yet bc of traveling and moving and stuff, oh shit
  2. Oh I dunno about an outside edge, that sounds difficult! But when I try to do an IB on a line the edge does grind a lot as if not sure which edge to be on
  3. predictions regarding GPF ladies' qualifiers now? how many japanese ladies do you think can make it? Kaori has a good shot at making it if she wins silver in Helsinki again, with Zagitova taking the (presumed) gold and mayyybe Panenkova challenging (if she's in a better form than she was earlier this season). Unfortunately, Wakaba has a hard first GP and her injury isn't good news and Mai has a nearly impossible GP in France with Rika, Medvedeva, Sotskova, and Bradie so I'm not expecting her to make it. The last hope would be Rika Kihira, who definitely has a chance if she skates well, but you know. As for the rest, I could see Alina, Evgenia, and Liza making the GPF as well I think it's more likely than not to see a Russia vs. Japan final.
  4. Haha I was there from 8-10 so i guess we just missed each other do you usually go 6-8?
  5. I've been doing the exercise of doing the ina bauer on one of the rink lines so you know it's straight. it's quite hard and i can't hold it for very long... basically it just requires insane turnout, i felt like my hips were being ripped apart.
  6. Yeah this was the same as when I was first skating, too. You really need to go like, more than once a week to not have to relearn everything each time T_T but you will improve, i promise!! BTW I tried to do a layback ina bauer today. It wasn't really a layback ina bauer but I will slowly slowly work on that
  7. Second to last is his favorite. Followed by first or last, which are okay too. Yeah although tunnel vision went away a bit with maturity, and Yuzu showed a lot of maturity last season. He had to compromise on NHK and the GPF for the Olympics, and he had to compromise on defending his world title for his skating future. And if everyone's words are to be believed (fingers crossed 100x that is the case), he has healed fine from last season's injury thankfully. BTW for those who say that Yuzu has injuries even though his technique is wonderful, having good technique also means that injuries heal better/faster. No one can prevent injuries that result from just bad luck and bad timing, but one-time injuries are usually easier to heal than chronic, overuse injuries now I worry about jinxing anything and I hope hope hope to god I have not
  8. Sigh, Polina Tsurskaya seems like the type of skater who needs time to blossom, but could be World/Olympic champion caliber when she does, and that's just not possible in Russia right now. If she skated for another country she could have less pressure to skate with injuries (which I'm afraid of for all skaters in Russia tbh because one missed/bad competition could sideline your entire season).
  9. Hehe is coach copying skater or the other way around..?

    Otonal

YES! I don't know how he does it but he can fully carry the music through low tones or high tones, drawn out notes or short staccatos, and even through silence. it's as if he's standing in front of an orchestra saying, "here is how you should perform this music. just follow my body instead of your sheet music," and they follow... I've never seen a performer be as one with the music as Yuzu here, even when watching more "classical" forms of performance art like ballet which is supposed to represent the pinnacle of artistry to some.

    Otonal

I'm rewatching Otonal for the umpteenth time and... I'm just in shock and awe at how he can make every beat of the music so beautiful, so meaningful? and i don't mean transitions and arm movement timed perfectly to the beat, as hard as that is, but the way he breathes life and soul into every note. i swear if i mute the video i can still hear everything just by watching him skate. it's like he is the conductor of the music, rather than the music conducting him. simply otherworldly.
  12. The sound is so calming. I've been listening to it on repeat
  13. Actually superaccurate. But I'd put Requiem at #3 and push the rest of them down.
  14. His english is so good! But he moved to toronto at a much younger age than Yuzu. And he actually has many friends in Toronto it seems (BFFs with Conrad Orzel? ) so it makes sense.
  15. Great! Does anyone else have the same issue tho? @fireovertheice @kelly @WinForPooh @Neenah @Hydroblade? if so can you link a tweet that doesn't work for you?
