  1. Sigh. It does seem like Boston Worlds affected his reputation in a way that never recovered (which after a world and Olympic title is very strange). But CoC is a really special case so let's not go there, and tbh he didn't have much of a PCS cushion at worlds that year already. He lost to Javi who also fell by less than 2 points and TV commentators remarked that his score wasn't as high as they thought. Javi deserved to win though and if Yuzu had won it would have been unfair so I am glad he is scored fairly if only for the reason that it fuels him and also legitimizes his victories several times over. Also skaters who are overscored sometimes get extra hate for no fault of their own.
  2. Well, he got more height on that than expected after seeing those initial crossovers and the speed into that jump....kudos to him for trying though, and if he lands it I will be extremely impressed. I just hope that bogus calls won't be made for something this important.
  3. Oh, I just meant like this weekend's Origin probably deserved less PCS than Helsinki Worlds or GPF Seimei. Not that he deserves lower PCS now than before as a whole. I should edit it.
  4. It's really hard to say what is accurate and what is not when skaters are not scored to the same standards. Even if there is only one skater who is consistently overscored, then there is no "accurate" PCS anymore, bc accuracy is relative. But I do agree that relatively, Yuzu's FS in Helsinki deserved less PCS than himself in some previous performances, like Worlds H&L or NHK/GPF Seimei when he was in top form. Because he's clearly not in peak form yet, thankfully.
  5. In Helsinki, I was most impressed with Boyang after Yuzu. He really improved a lot. He almost seems like a completely different skater. Even when I was focusing only on Yuzu during practice, Boyang still grabbed my attention many times. Yeah he doesn't have the smooth edges and deep knees across the ice of Yuzu or even Shoma, and he still has many obvious crossovers, but he has clearly improved in all PCS aspects, especially presentation and interpretation of music. And his skating skills have improved a metric ton as well. In terms of musical interpretation I'd put him up there as one of the top men now, maybe behind only Yuzu (and maybe Jason Brown although his skating is not my style). Shoma interprets as well but always in the same way so it feels forced, and Kolyada has great skating skills but all the mistakes take away from his ability to perform (also he kept stumbling in his stsq too).
  6. It could be the ice was too soft (too warm) or too hard (too cold). Edge jumps require you to launch off of your blade with no assisting foot and when the ice is too hard or soft I believe the grip of the blade on the ice is affected...
  7. Yeah, they're wrong, basically. Lol. I'm not really sure why they say that. Last year it was about "first double OGM since Dick Button" but I guess after a game of telephone it got scrambled to "the only man other than Dick Button."
  8. So out of curiosity I looked at the self-selected country tags of each user (although we only started having the tag like, a couple of months in, so half of the users on PH never filled out a country tag). The tag is what displays your flag underneath your avatar. It's very interesting, 1481 people have filled out a tag (not including those who chose to leave the field blank), and we are from 88 different countries The most number of members are from the United States, but over half of our members are from Asia. (Long graph is long so click to zoom in.)
  9. Yes, but so that's skating, every new thing is a wall, really, until you break through. I think he felt the same about his 4Lo, the summer before that season when he landed it, he was only landing 1 per day. But he figured it out. So I have faith that he will figure this out too
  10. You never know because you don't have to rotate a jump to have it called clean. Also, more (similar) translations:
  11. Yikes, but I'm not surprised. I mean this is a jump we have literally NEVER seen landed...EVER. It's not like quad Lutz which already was being done in competition, this is completely new territory here.
  12. Hi all! Now that the second competition of the season is over, does anyone have any reports of the site being slow, hard to load/post, or unavailable? I haven't seen anything so far but I might have missed something Thank you!
  13. Looks like they roped off his path. Anyway fans will be fans (because herd mentality, it doesn't matter how many times you post on twitter telling people to be respectful), but the venue really needs to give him a path to leave without being surrounded by fans. Cuz otherwise it could be...dangerous? That's their responsibility and we should maybe try to reach out to them instead.
  14. That is just mind blowing. Yuzu is so smart he is almost prescient.
  15. Thank you, every bit helps
  16. Yeah, really. Kinda gives you an idea of how self aware they are of their problems
  17. Thank you all for posting your experiences. It was integral in helping us decide what to do next about our server The pro-rated cost (since we already spent a couple months on the lower plan) to upgrade to the fastest VPS server plan for the next 21 months was $386.79 USD. Including a LiteSpeed license was an additional $283.65 USD. So we paid a total of $670.44 for the upgrade and hope that it will be fast enough (it was the exact plan we had last season, i.e. during the Olympics).
