Now THIS is a huge jump (ofc it's on a harness so it's different but damn look at that height and rotational speed)

Has ATS ever invited a Japanese skater, ever? I don't recall that any Japanese skater has ever skated in ATS. And I don't think Yuna has ever participated in a Japanese ice show either, nor any other Korean skater that I can think of, although for some reason I think that they would be more willing to invite her. I think I am also extremely good at telling Japanese from Chinese, especially the difference in style/makeup/clothing, and I also think that most of the young fans were Chinese and the older fans were Japanese. In Helsinki I did meet a young Japanese fan but she didn't look Chinese (although at first I thought she was Korean) but some of the fans were very obviously one or the other. I'd expect that some of the Chinese fans speak Japanese though, it's very common.

This article says Yuzu will have extra security at CoR, including at the hotel and the buses. There will be extra security for all skaters as well. This line (from google translate) made me laugh out loud: "Also, security officers will be on the bus with [Hanyu] so that the girls under the wheels do not throw themselves" Ouch!! (Yes I know it's both funny and a little bit sad.)

So CoC is back?
-
welp I don't understand it either, but i guess everyone is entitled to what they like. The commentator Chris (on BESP) LOVES Shoma, so much so that it's clearly not just because Shoma trains at his rink ... and what I did realize when watching NHK was that Shoma had some really smooth crossovers. Of course there were a lot of them but tbh Boyang and Nathan could really learn from him there haha :P

OMG!!

It says Rika is working on quads and planning on incorporating them next season!
-
great, i'm glad to hear!!
-
Yeah it's possible permission has been asked but I wonder if he knows that sales may not be good not because of his works but because of TSL's reputation T___T well, they may very well sell out anyway.
-
I wonder if people won't let him know? He's such a talented person and draws so many skaters, and is kind to all of them, and I'd hate for his work to not sell as well as expected because of this and he doesn't know why.
-
Rika is learning 4S?!
-
Eww. That's just wrong, given how nasty they are to the skaters.
-
Did anyone actually say it like that though? I've only heard "There were mistakes but even so Yuzu is in a class of his own" etc. etc.
-
I'm so sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your story, it made me tear up I know your mother must be watching you and happy for you for finding something that makes you happy
-
Yeah i'd say it has slightly less rotation than a fully rotated quad (without looking at prerotation).

Finally the new layouts are live The default layout banner, Yin and Yang, was made by @Yep and it received the most votes. The other two are called Yuzu in Bloom and Full Circle and they were both made by @ranran! They both worked with us very hard to make matching avatars and test out the themes. Thank you to all the artists who submitted banners and everyone who voted

Took me way too many tries This was the best I got: Takeoff Landing As you can see his blade was already completely on the ice by then and not just the toe pick.
-
Well, if you pause at the right time, you can see that he was about 270 degree underrotated on that, which is probably also why he had a bad fall. So it wasn't really very close.
-
Sigh. It does seem like Boston Worlds affected his reputation in a way that never recovered (which after a world and Olympic title is very strange). But CoC is a really special case so let's not go there, and tbh he didn't have much of a PCS cushion at worlds that year already. He lost to Javi who also fell by less than 2 points and TV commentators remarked that his score wasn't as high as they thought. Javi deserved to win though and if Yuzu had won it would have been unfair so I am glad he is scored fairly if only for the reason that it fuels him and also legitimizes his victories several times over. Also skaters who are overscored sometimes get extra hate for no fault of their own.
-
Well, he got more height on that than expected after seeing those initial crossovers and the speed into that jump....kudos to him for trying though, and if he lands it I will be extremely impressed. I just hope that bogus calls won't be made for something this important.
-
Oh, I just meant like this weekend's Origin probably deserved less PCS than Helsinki Worlds or GPF Seimei. Not that he deserves lower PCS now than before as a whole. I should edit it.
-
It's really hard to say what is accurate and what is not when skaters are not scored to the same standards. Even if there is only one skater who is consistently overscored, then there is no "accurate" PCS anymore, bc accuracy is relative. But I do agree that relatively, Yuzu's FS in Helsinki deserved less PCS than himself in some previous performances, like Worlds H&L or NHK/GPF Seimei when he was in top form. Because he's clearly not in peak form yet, thankfully.

In Helsinki, I was most impressed with Boyang after Yuzu. He really improved a lot. He almost seems like a completely different skater. Even when I was focusing only on Yuzu during practice, Boyang still grabbed my attention many times. Yeah he doesn't have the smooth edges and deep knees across the ice of Yuzu or even Shoma, and he still has many obvious crossovers, but he has clearly improved in all PCS aspects, especially presentation and interpretation of music. And his skating skills have improved a metric ton as well. In terms of musical interpretation I'd put him up there as one of the top men now, maybe behind only Yuzu (and maybe Jason Brown although his skating is not my style). Shoma interprets as well but always in the same way so it feels forced, and Kolyada has great skating skills but all the mistakes take away from his ability to perform (also he kept stumbling in his stsq too).
