  1. My favorite moment was the SP at Worlds. Underscoring aside. Thank you Yuzu
  2. well...the human aspect of it (i.e. the last two points) would be the hardest. but collecting data is actually probably not that expensive and everyone should be invited to participate in that if they want. and there should be a rescore option where judges can manually look at calls to determine if they're correct, that skaters can request for a fee like in gymnastics, which will be possible if we have good cameras (and usually TV cameras will do).
  3. I'm so proud of Yuzu...the reason why no competitive skater talks about this is probably because of good reason, i.e. the powers that be won't like it.. But they already treat him like shit. And he's above that. They can underscore him but Yuzu is already above the ISU, they can't touch his legacy.
  4. So has it been confirmed that Aliona has her 3A back? eta: looks not quite there but close
  5. here! https://planethanyu.com/video/
  6. I moved the posts here: https://planethanyu.com/topic/1340-racism-in-fandom/?tab=comments#comment-468711 BUT I think what needs to be said has been said, so I'd like it if we can move on now. Thanks.
  7. yeah, you can still download even if they don't have the option. i'll try to download whatever we don't already have.
  8. So they have 2 spots for the Olympics?
  9. do you know if japannet allows downloads after?
  10. maybe you can make a wiki for it? i can start a new thread where i post the wikis (most of them i got lazy and stopped editing, haha i should do it in this off season), and pin it
  11. taking this here Definitely, I think the PCS categories that should be left are SS and TR, because those are actually quantifiable. In fact, SS should be broken down as that's the most important PCS category, IMO, and the one that doesn't get rewarded anywhere else (at least TR technically should be rewarded in StSq, as GOEs for jumps etc.). SS should be broken down into edge control & depth (like how figures were judged), speed, and ice coverage, which are all at least somewhat quantifiable with motion capture (ice scope already does it). Maybe Composition can be quantifiable as well, like the pace of your program, do you put all your spins at the end? etc. TR should include difficulty of turns and number of them. I don't think anyone would have a big problem with PCS if it were scored as above with no relation to "performance" or "interpretation," so why not just define it like so. I don't think waving your arms around and looking sad should be rewarded in PCS if you don't have good skating skills to back that up. You could say, well Eteri's skaters will just find a way to maximize each of these categories, like do fast laps around the ice for ice coverage and speed, and then jump, etc. But they get the highest PCS anyway, so and you can't fake all that as well as good edges throughout the whole program while also jumping unless you have strong foundational skating skills.
  12. Maybe unpopular opinion but interpretation, composition, and performance should be abolished as PCS categories. Yes, we care about skaters having enjoyable programs, but we all have different opinions. Judges have never used those categories to anyone's satisfaction, so they should just be abolished. Skaters who want to put care and effort into their programs will be rewarded with fans and popularity and viral videos on social media -- it's not like being criminally underscored in PCS has prevented someone like Satoko Miyahara from putting out extremely polished and beautiful programs.
  13. I just don't think the significance of what he's saying here will be understood well. Think about it: Yuzu has just proven the most fundamental assumption in figure skating - namely that it's not possible to judge it objectively - to be flat-out wrong. If you can use motion-capture to see if a jump is according to the rules, then you can use it for spins, for steps, for anything. You can use it to automate tech scoring so that bias (in TES at least) can never be a thing in this sport ever again. That's earth-shaking stuff to think about. But I doubt most sportswriters will figure that out, western media or not western. And the main, non-sports media won't care. TBH it's not that hard or earth-shattering, other sports do SO MUCH more. But those from western feds + the media will just play dumb and pretend it can't exist, or that it hurts the "beauty" of figure skating which can't be measured using computers or something, as if calling underrotations or wrong edges fairly will make skating uglier. Of course, the people who have "beautiful" skating that will be hurt the most from this all happen to be from one or two feds... The only change that will happen is if the US and Russia both have a leading lady and those two feds can try to out-politick each other and propose technologies that highlight each other's weakness. Otherwise things are all fine and dandy and there's no need to change.
  14. Wakaba really wants to make that Olympic team, but I'm afraid it's gonna be a mess at least land your other triples if you're gonna add in one (or two) 3As.
