  1. Is this voted by women? I can't imagine Ucchi still making polls anymore (but good for him).
  2. Exactly. I just feel like, especially since he is recovering, the layout on media day won't be his final and we'll probably be combing over it again trying to figure out how many quads he has. By then we'll probably need a new saga of Yuzu and his axel/quad concubines.
  3. Remembers. I'm shook. It'd be hilarious if he reveals his EX on day 1 this year by just confirming HYK. ----------------------- But then even after media day last year we were dissatisfied with the information because we knew (guessed) that he would bring the 4lz yet even the media helped him keep it under wraps until he was ready. I think the biggest secret this year again will not be the music but Hanyu's layout and which quads he has recovered. He'll keep fans and other teams guessing his layout strategy (as well as make everyone anxious about where he is with the 4A) until ACI and even beyond.
  4. Lmao they committed to that extra large puff of hair that flipped up.
  5. I thought Daisuke Murakami currently has a perm? And Nathan kills it with his curls already. So I'm good with semi-mushroom Yuzu. @Sammie If it's a trend in kpop, but Yuzu's is natural unstyled hair (cut by his mother or perhaps an acquaintance) with or without it being trendy, so instead of following in this case he'd be the one setting it.
  6. Since he got his obligatory Canadian Silver at ACI last year, and isn't going to SC this year as well, let's hope it's not a repeat. Or he doesn't fall below a silver for the first time ever. I'm excited to see who else will be there as well.
  7. This is probably not the place and time to say this, but the theives became murderers and I hope there is justice.
  8. So sad. Rest in peace, Denis. He was so young and had a great future ahead of him.
  9. OT but latching on as a similar track of thought A lot of people would not like to see it I guess, but I personally would like to see Patrick delve into live commentating for competitions (Yulia and I think Nobu jumped straight into it after retirement.) Patrick often put his foot in his mouth, but I at least appreciated his honesty about his views and about the direction of the sport (no matter how much ego there was in it). It'd be interesting to see his take on Yuzu and others (including Nathan who he took a liking to and support despite a few ironies in that). I like Kurt Browning though, so maybe as just a guest commentator.
  10. My summer is passing by in a flash and yet I'm not even mad. August, please come sooner! Also, being Olympic Champion, will Zu be doing a live or prerecorded performance for the 24 hour charity event this year? (Maybe this year he'll finally do Swanyu, but I'm betting on Haru Yo Koi if he takes part in the charity.)
  11. I'm rewatching Olympic material and one big question about a Yuzu Mr. Troll legend from Olys to ponder for the next season: Will Pooh-san return for the upcoming season and this strawberry shortcake tissue cover go back into the forest, forever to be a legend of the Olympic season, or will we see it again? cr I think the answer is obvious, but still I wonder how many tissue box covers he has/had on stand by. What will he do with the strawberry shortcake now that Pooh isn't banned? I still have so many questions about this tissue box. Even when my nerves were wrecked during the games, I love him so much for the smallest things like his replacement for a tissue box cover. It was all within his calculations anyway. It's pretty obvious I'm missing Yuzu.
  12. Ngl, that number may just continue to grow as his baseball career might last longer than Yuzu's in figure skating. Also, what happened to Kei Nishikori?
  13. OT: He's only on the technical panel and doesn't dish out PCS and GOEs, as well as he's really lenient on Satoko, but I hope someone has the guts to step up in the men's field and cause chaos like Shin Amano in the next quad. It will at least make things a little more interesting and with calls on quads, playing with scores wouldn't entirely rest in the hands of the feds/judges. Go broke or go home.
  14. I spoke about Denis Ten and Machida more in the vein of their roles as dark horses that have happened and surprised the podium and even had reasonable arguments as to why they could have gotten gold at a Worlds, rather than (sadly) the skaters themselves. I do think (or hope) a dark horse will rise to challenge the sQuad that is not predetermined like Stephen. A Shoma fan on tumblr wrote recently that if someone told her Shoma from juniors would be a runner-up in PC post-Sochi she would have laughed in their faces. Shoma had problems with his 3As and his wonky jumping technique made jumping quads a big if. But he and Nathan added new quads to their repertoire quickly. Not everyone is like Yuzu who waits to make sure his quads are consistent and have transitions to add them to competitive programs, and not everyone is judged at Yuzu's standard (i.e. need steps and transitions) to get GOEs or have choreography and actually doing something with their feet to get PCS. Shoma gets a pass sometimes because he's more balanced than Nathan and Boyang, and is a treat to watch, but his scores says he is a complete skater while technically if judges weren't so happy with him things could be very different. Future judging will decide if Vincent will get a reputation (in judges' book) as an underrotator that will affect even close calls. Meanwhile on the other end of the spectrum what's already happened is that lenient judging for Shoma means no matter what some of his jumps like a underrotated 4F will rarely get called. I'm just picking on Shoma, he's not as bad as I'm making it and he's not the only one who gets leniency. ISU turned a blind eye to Yuna and her impassioned fans with their petitions as well as her whole country who loved her. They can create a gap if they want, once they believe Yuzu won't go to Beijing, especially now with lower BV that skaters can work with and more GOEs for judges to play with. They have shown its possible to play around in the ladies field all within one season. Zhenya, the bigger star between her and Alina and more popular in her own country, got beaten by the system that initially upheld her. Even with her huge TES, could Zagitova broken the SP WR at Olympics without her upward PCS boost? A clean Wakaba can't even touch her anymore. I talk about ladies even though we're talking about Yuzu and men because I don't believe the politics are that different. In the same vein, Stephen is a upcoming front runner currently. If the sQuad falters in the quad and Beijing comes around, I'm betting there will be a sudden rise of another junior man to nip at Stephen's heels.
  15. +5 or -5 could work in favor of Yuzu (or not when he falters), but realistically I wonder how many times over the years have Yuzu's jumps gotten 3+ across the board? I think I've seen fans wonder what else Yuzu has to do to get +3 on his 3F . Edit: Nathan and Vincent, are they doing any Challengers? Shoma got a season's best at the very beginning of Olys season and we were very afraid it would set the tone (it did and also didn't). Nathan and Vincent's scoring at the Challengers and Skate America could make a difference. I'm looking forward to which one of the top guys goes first this year and how they're scored, and where Yuzu will show up in the scale in his first among their firsts of the season.
  16. Google translate is unhelpful, but found this from Yuzu's FF from GS:
  17. Sorry to rain on the parade a bit by my pessimism, but when we get to the point whereas everyone has quads and BV is similar and every point matters (like in ladies) then ISU will just step in to "create" stars and rivalries through gifted PCS and GOEs to create the illusion of untouchable skaters. For instance in this next quad, I just can't imagine someone like Jun Cha Hwan (if he stabilize his quads) getting the same PCS and GOEs as Vincent Zhou. BUT more positively if new rules and GOEs are applied a little less leniently for judges' favorites, RE: Yuzu's challengers (if Yuzu doesn't grand slam his way through this season), I'm looking forward to a dark horse upset that will also challenge the sQuad. Around Sochi for a short time there was Denis Ten and Machida, both very skilled and complete skaters when "on". I think with Nathan, Boyang, and Shoma with their huge BVs, a few of the other skaters have been overlooked but post-Olympics changes might surprise us. (I'm not super knowledgeable about FS, but this Yuzu-uber got vibes from Keegan, who is not so young but without Patrick, Canada just might push him to make a podium while they're waiting for their Beijing hopefuls).
  18. David Wilson wasn't at all the latter stops? Not surprising if Yuzu choreograped the extra time and rearranged the choreo himself. He put so much into just an ex, I'm looking forward to his programs this year.
  19. Do you think you can sum it up or maybe an equivalent? Just randomly interested in the joke. If not, that's fine too.
  20. I'm living for this gaining some traction. The overlord's power in making this a thing and then it following VM is all part of his calculations.
  21. The talk about Yuzu trying tango or maybe something playful/comic (like Javi) makes me wonder if we're missing something else, like some form of Japanese entertainment/dance/music that can be translated to the ice (since Yuzu says he wants to try more Japanese). I don't know what Seimei is considered as, but I found the sharp moves and hit on the beats different from the usual.
  22. If Yuzu ever does do something playful and comic, I imagine he'd mystify everyone by doing a completely Yuzu-fied version that is wonderfully different from his predecessors but as good (because of his aura and switching on and off of his external/internal projection). He has the meme faces down at least to make it legendary. And the wiggle finger.
  23. Smol bby Zuzu. How things have changed! In some ways of course, but in many ways Yuzu is still the same. Awwww.
  24. I don't always like his costumes, but I can still appreciate the details put into them. Many of them aren't thrown together in a day, at least. Even if as a whole the look doesn't work, at closer inspection the work is very beautiful. I dislike his notre dame so much (and as a new fan have never paid attention to the full program tbh) that I just realized yesterday (while browsing old blogs and because someone pointed it out) that it has a cross on the front of the costume. I mean, that's a pretty big detail to miss, lol. https://sportymags.wordpress.com/2015/01/25/yuzuru-hanyu-competition-costumes/
