  1. Theory: Yuzu is waiting for 1-2 week before ACI to reveal his programs or may even just reveal them at ACI with no media day. If his team is as media savvy as they have been so far, that's what I'd do. He has drawn it out long enough that the suspense is there, but ACI isn't until a few other challengers (Lombardia, Salt Lake, and Ondrej Nepela?) and among other reasons waiting to announce his programs can help him hold his cards closer despite the attention being on the other skaters at the time. Much like during Olys Team Event even being absent the media buzz was somewhat in his favor with momentum gearing to switch to any men at any time especially him (due to the uncertainty of his situation). I still greatly admire TCC and Yuzu's team playing their cards perfectly during Olys. I'd write a book on it if I can.
  2. Well, don't know if it's true or not, but I'm kind of glad if it is. I know people say Zhenya needs him more because of her competition, but I think Yuzu needs Brian as much for many reasons. He hasn't been to Nats for 2 years and Shoma is the reigning champion. Additionally, I take it for granted that Dai will be there. I think this Nats will be loud and uncomfortable. Of course, Yuzu can do without Brian as well, but I think it's added support that Brian (who was there during Yuzu's first win and gave sound advice when his first win was not well received) might be there.
  3. No, not at all! It's not uncommon to wonder. I did too! But it's because I've seen the result of the outcome in other places that it makes me worry for no reason.
  4. Let's see. Some retired, current, junior skaters & persons in the field + some Japanese/other country's media personnel (for quick lazy or easy news) + mass of Japanese fans + mass of Chinese fans + other fans inside & outside asia + some business networking personnel + personal friends and family + (who else am I missing?) = A LOT. Though I'm the type of fan that even if I have a social media account I won't follow my faves and would rather get my news through other fans on forums like these so maybe he won't get that many follows if too many fans are like me, lol. But tbh on a more serious note, he has his reasons to not. For me, this comparing of number of followers is a reason I'd rather he not if it's just another way for skating fandom to get dramatic.
  5. Lmao, so there was nothing new at all? The show seem to be just reiterating his interview at that time. I thought they had a new vtr with yuzu speaking about it in hindsight but lol I guess recycling content is universal.
  6. This is funny because 24H was prerecorded. His feature on the variety show where he explains why he appeared in that movie must be precorded too. So we're getting new stuff that's not actually new. Reminds me of the blackout 2017-18 season whereas new stuff comes out that's not actually new because we know Yuzu is on a media blackout.
  7. Shoma Uno might potentially hold some of the WRs this season if Lombardia lives up to it. Or Skate America may just decide they want Nathan or Vincent to have a piece of the pie. Heheh. Now they have even more power to decide who goes where on the scoring scale. Don't mind me. Pessimist coming through.
  8. Max and Angelo are doing good with TES and it needs to be emulated, but I feel like PCS is not as hopeless and I hope a commentator goes for it, even though unfortunately they are most often always going to be called out for being biased even when they're not, but what's there to lose? A push towards transparency is worth it. For instance, that one guy that said Yuzu gets better PCS than Shoma because he is Olys champ is talking out of bias (and it doesn't even make sense), but if a commentator dives into PCS as five categories it's not so hard. For instance, point out that Patrick has better skating skills. Some fans of other skaters will say so and so's skating skills are not as bad, but for real maybe if someone knowledgeable in the field actually pointed it out about how great or medicore so and so's skating is it would stop being so subjective, there would actually be an understandable standard for 8's and 9's In SS. It's because not enough dives into it that theres too much subjectivity in PCS imo. Also, transitions in not only quantity but quality can be touched upon too, which Yuzu excells at. When you lump it all together and make a bold statement (like the same dude I talked about) that's what is the issue because people will equate the whole PCS with artistry.
  9. I think it's pretty useful because I still can't count rotations or notice as many mistakes, and it's additional info without being too much. And I think Nobu also points out if he thinks a jump is UR and if the judges will review or won't. I find it interesting how he is professional when commentating during the program and will only gush before or after the fact. I wish I understood Japanese so I can understand Sano.
  10. (But seriously though, he has more than I thought he would.)
  11. I'm not a fan of longer hair on men, its just me. But there are exceptions...
  12. Lmao I wonder who's in the costume. These skaters who wear the mascot costumes, like during NHK, are so pro to be wearing all that on skates and ice. The only plus is that they have a cushion when they fall, but I would totally panic if I fell and couldn't get up (ie Domo).
  13. Japan and their random rankings, lol. Survey sample is really small. 105 only. But I wonder what is the biggest sport in Russia? Is Figure skating at least within the top 5? But it hit me when they show side by side Medvedeva, Alina, and Plushenko that 3 big skating stars in Russia has at one point named Yuzu as someone they admired. Woot.
  14. So apparently Boyang is not going to TCC after all, most possibly by his choice. While I understand, I'm actually very disappointed and it's not related to Yuzu but about my budding hope in watching him grow even more to eventually catch up with his contemporaries (which doesn't mean it's not possible in China, but I think TCC would have helped greatly). Welp. All the speculations about Brian talking with Yuzu about Boyang and in the end it all goes under the rug.
  15. I was a crying, dry cactus until last week when I finally got back into anime and thus the light novel of an anime. Right now I'm appeased, but I've been going through the translated light novels too fast, and once I'm done with them if Yuzu still hasn't made an appearance or dropped his programs I think the devastation and emptiness will be too great. Like I went on a side journey and at the end of the dark tunnel is a light that is Yuzu, but the light subsides to reveal...nothing. I will (and did) drop most of my hobbies for this man but on the downside it's hard to survive when Yuzu is in ninja blackout mode.
  16. Aw, but I think though they did good with his torso and skinny waist they missed out on his powerful thighs and ahem, assests, which usually helps accentuates his waist even more. Thus the bottom doesn't really fill. Well, one thing at a time I guess.
  17. Awww Tracy's daughter is a fan of Yuzu?!
  18. Personally I feel Perfume is more popular for their openness to ideas. I made the leap to them (and technology) because they seemed to have used the similar technology into their routine before Japan did it at Rio. RE: Yuzu and 24H I'm betting if he's going to make an appearance it's planned months in advance, or at least plenty of weeks. Since for last year he had the video call in advance, and in the other years he did something behind the scenes as well. Maybe he'll surprise us this year with something totally different since all of his appearances so far had something new. Like, he's going to skate with some skaters that inspired him, or younger skaters who are inspired by him. Like a mini ciontu.
  19. If they do, at least for closing, I wonder if they will go with who they think is internationally popular (because some they are really wrong about) or whoever is mainstream in Japan (or whoever has backing). I personally would love the latter and the rock bands. Yonezu seems like the more popular male soloist right now though. They won't troll us with Piko Taro though...right?
  20. A few older, jaded Johnnys fans (like moi) like to affectionately "drag" our faves about it, so believe me we know . (Unsurprisingly, I got into Arashi through their variety shows first. The rest was an acquired taste although I came to love some of their songs.) Perfume would be like, a cool collaborative choice for idols and technology. No Akimoto, Johnny, E-girls or Exile. Less fanwars. Just saying. >_> Preferrable to Miku Hatsune. (Although I'm also into some vocaloids music.) Yuzu wasn't live last year for 24H so he might do prerecorded again this year I think if it's an option and easier. But they might want him live as a gold medalist also. While it's more work on him, I like seeing him interact with others anyway. In hindsight, maybe the reason he prerecorded last year wasn't because of the Olympics season but he also had the kids skating class in August and didn't want double duty of going back and forth so much.
  21. It's funny you added this because I'm actually a Johnnys fan (or actually I only care about Arashi) and actually am not a fan of 48 groups . But I understand the sentiment and take no offense. I did say previously a long time ago that I would kind of hope (if they do a modern section) that they include Takarazuka in 2020. It would also provide a cool contrast to the historically male-centric japanese theatres. OT: it'd be soooo cool if they include like a nod to Abe no Seimei in the production.
  22. I just rewatched it recently also! Both were so emotional, and while I understood getting the audience's reaction, it annoyed me when they cut away since they missed out so much of the connecting choreo as well as pulled me out of the programs. (The commentary didn't help either.) I'm not sure if it's included in the clip you provided, but on a later program they showed a little bts of Yuzu on the ice talking with Fumiya Sashida on the piano for 24H's Hana ni nare, and it's like a predecessor to his work with the pianist for Haru yo koi. Even at this time, he already was putting his own touch into his programs.
  23. What is this bts for? I've never seen it. *o*
  24. LMAO. Yuzu, where are you going? The party's not over there. And I also spot Arash up there. Almost 20 years in the field, but my boys still got it. :')
