Happy New Year to everyone(!) What a cosmically bizarre year it was. I ended last year and began this one with a virus that has left me quarantined in my room but given me an excuse to watch endless practice videos and eat ice cream. Somehow it feels like a fitting farewell to the strangeness of 2017. I'd write stuff but it'd be long and sad and mush so I'll just say thanks to the creators of this planet and its inhabitants for making it so fun, friendly, and welcoming that one of my resolutions is to check in a lot less. I hope everyone, including The Overlord, stays happy, healthy, and safe. ...At least until PC.

@paperatoms Sorry, I haven't gotten round to mailing yet (it seems I've become the family nurse these holidays.) I have a few tiny extra things to include, too, so I'll send it off next week.

I guess it comes down to his English. I think he said "more 10 points" which could really only mean PCS but maybe he did mean "10 points more." Either way, I didn't think he was complaining about the judging but telling himself he needed to do more next time to earn it. (Why don't interviewers nitpick like we do? )

I just assumed he saw not 100 in PCS.

I thought he meant more 10s on the score sheet, too, but I'm wondering if maybe a commentator planted that in my mind.

I found it! It’s not the lunge after the combo but just before. You can see it really clearly in the 2012 NHK broadcast. ETA Here it is, around 2:28

I think the lunge they were talking about is a backwards lunge after the twizzles coming out of the 3lz-3t because they then go on to discuss the へ lunge as another type of lunge and travelling sideways which isn’t close to the combo. I don’t know how the first one is different from usual apart from travelling backwards, though. It was my first time hearing about the fracture, too. I wonder if it has anything to do with his prolonged recovery now.

I dread the day he’s satisfied.

If he were to skate it again with his upgraded skills it would definitely match or outdo CoR swan. I want to see it so much.

It was there before but it’s much more pronounced now. The mesh is a shame, indeed.

I spent so long trying to convince my mother that “Nooo, don’t worry! The swan isn’t dying!” but I can’t hide it anymore after CoR. Maybe I’m morbid because some others don’t see it in the choreography but it’s just so brilliant how the wings follow through after the stabbing, like his soul is flowing out and up into the heavens. Please, DW, gives us an update! What a shame that last long interview was with TSL. >_> @xeyra The costume really is genius in how the swan can be read in so many ways. His arms can be wings or necks or his torso the body or wrapped in wings, a single swan or a pair of swans. And the way it sits on his shoulders gives the illusion that he’s actually developed avian anatomy which adds so much to the beautiful choreography. Also, sparkly and purdy.

I’m wondering the same thing about the changes, too. It wasn’t my favourite before CoR, either, but I think that performance was the best I’ve ever seen anything skated. I can’t believe it’s real. It’s astounding.
