  1. I literally laughed out loud when I saw this...it's so cute! Especially the last frame where he is like "I am such a genius!" (For inadvertently cutting his hair in a way that can be set fashionably XD)
  2. But see how much effort Yuzu and his music editor had to put in to make Seimei the great program it is? I remember it was done over 57 different editing cuts or something, and even if you take into consideration Yuzu's particular pickiness over his musical timing, I am sure to make new,non-warhorse music skatable, all of the involving parties(choreographer, skater and a professional music editor!) have to be very willing to devote a lot more time and effort to strike the right balance of music edit...and seeing how many skaters basically just leave it to their choreographers and coaches to do the job of providing them with skatable music, and how often time famous choreographers have to do programs for multiple skaters all over the world, and of course the question of cost and benefit of time investment if all these effort don't make any differences with the judges...I can see why new masterpieces don't come along very often in skating... But with all that being said, I still wish more skaters and choreographers would out some more time into creating new music for skating...for the sake of artistry!
  3. I think film is more accessible to people than theater ... So for light musical fans(or average onlookers), they probably only heard of the film version and went with it... But I do agree that stage musical singers are usually much better! (but only rarer do they actually hire stage musical singers to play their characters on film..too often it's some big name in Hollywood who may or may not be able to sing...)Sigh...
  4. Thank you compiling these! And I love your comments in small prints because they are exactly what I murmured to myself when I see these score results Do we have a resident step level expert who can explain why Zuzu seems to be getting only half of his at level 4 as compared to let's say...Javi Patrick and even shoma? What is Yuzu missing is the ones that he got 3 on????
  5. But if I remember correctly, he turned his meaningful old programs into Exhibitions the last olympic season instead of having one new one? I feel like this might be something he would do this season too...unless he really brings back seimei, then he will might have something new to balance out..
  6. Okay this is very cute. I love how Vincent not-so-lowkey fanboys over Yuzu and calls him a legend haha And Yuzu really doesn't age! P.S.he looks more cheerful and healthy in these photos than the one from yesterday~
  7. So as the August OP day draws nearer and nearer I looked through the list of guesses and re-listened to some of them and trying to imagine what would fit Yuzu well and Edward Scissorhand OST really hit home with me! Edward Scissorshand OST gives a very distinct "winter" feeling which I think will be great for figureskating (he can literally do "ice" dance lol) which is one reason why I think this program can work for him, but mostly I think it can be an awesome match for Yuzu which may bring out something incredible in him because Yuzu often feels a strong connection portraying tragic yet romantic characters such as Romeo and Phantom (rewatching his 2015 WTT where he said bye bye to Christine really touched me because he was so in character...and need we mention 2012 WC Romeo again ? )so it will help him achieve another dramatic and wear-his-heart-on-his sleeve type of epic performance I think. The only other occasions where he feels more connected to his music, of course, is with Japanese music, so Seimei 2.0 still looking likely... But even if he doesn't skate to Edward Scissorshand theme this season, I would like to see him skate to it later! P.S. Another song that I think is dramatic And extra and has very fitting lyric that can suit Yuzu to skate to at the Olympic is This Is the Moment from Jekyll and Hyde ("This is the moment! This is the day, When I send all my doubts and demons On their way! Every endeavor, I have made - ever - Is coming into play, Is here and now - today! This is the moment - My final test - Destiny beckoned, I never reckoned, Second Best! <- lol I won't look down, I must not fall! This is the moment, The sweetest moment of them all!”) ...but then again, that endeavor has a tragic end, so maybe not haha
  8. So sad to hear more injury news in the Japanese junior man field.. they are really facing a gap after Shoma with the following rising stars suffering from injuries...
  9. Hmm quite possibly new I think? But he looks like he is a bit more tired with that half smile? Poor bb probably training hard at crickets now...
  10. I saw the one that's from a long time ago when Vincent was a novice: http://www.goldenskate.com/2012/06/u-s-novice-champ-zhou-hungry-for-more/ He said: "He also has taken a liking to 2012 Worlds bronze medalist Yuzuru Hanyu. “I love watching his dramatic (free) program (from last season)—he put a lot of athleticism and emotion into it,” he said. He is 17 right now, and he’s already a world medalist.”
  11. Yeah I think casual fans who have not watched Yuzu's R&J 1.0 might not have the same problem that us Yuzu fans, or honestly any figureskating fan who watched Yuzu's 2012 WC FS have...but anyone who DID watched it will definitely notice , because the music cut is waaaaaay too similar (I would say almost 90%!) to not have a dejavu moment. Naturally then, it will call for comparison...to one of the most beloved performance of the current god of figureskating. That's some pretty big shoes to fill for Vincent. But alas that R&J music doesn't belong to Yuzu so of course vincent can still use it, and he probably knows that he will be compared to Yuzu, since he himself had said that he liked that performance, so maybe he is hoping to recreate the same magic with the same dramatic music...but I think it will be very difficult due to the high bar Yuzu set. And it now makes me want to go back to watch Yuzu's R&J 1.0 again haha so hey, who knows? might be a good thing for Yuzu if more new fans watched Vincent and trace back to Yuzu and turns into new Yuzu fans...cuz I am pretty sure they would be hooked lol
  12. Lol this is exactly the reason I use to convince my wallet to spit out money for the 2 figureskating magazines I bought with the detailed report of his GPF and world this season ( another incentive for the world one is to commorate the "the king is back" moment!) But for Aoi Honoo 1&2 it was quite easy to convince myself to buy because not only are they books with lots of Japanese words I can learn and tell the dramatic story of Yuzu's life, they also serve a noble cause by continuing to support his Sendai home rink and future hope of Sendai! I mean, I made donations for the 311 earthquake even before Yuzu was my idol, so this is just another small support I can do in the name of the person I adore, with added benefit of learning Japanese and more about Yuzu! In other words, go buy Aoi Honoo if you haven't!! Disclaimer: I am in no way associated with the publisher or sendai rink lol
  13. Oh wow, this is the compilation clip that I didn't know I need but am now attached to and looping like crazy! (The high kick 3A and the Zusa sequenece is the highlight of that SP for me!) And looking at this... I think his world and WTT 3A definitely Deserves a +3.00 GOE
  14. [Patiently waits on the side of the rink for Zamboni Hydro to finish up cleaning and resurfacing the ice]
  15. The club name sounds about right haha Where do I apply for membership? Because I would love to join too I agree that he looks better in them than western suits (and this is coming from a suit lover). Yuzu just looks extra charismatic in japense traditional wear~ *swoons
  16. Hey guys! I saw an update on Shoma's layout for FS that he did for his 7/17 ice show. it's 3A 4Lo 3A // 4F 4T 4T 3A1Lo3F 3S....I wonder if this indicates that he is gonna backload 3 quads and challenge a 5 quad if he can replace the first 3A with a 4Lz that would make his layout no.3 or 4(back in page 33 of this thread) seem more likely? Those ones would total his Bv to 164.43 & 166.25 and make @xeyra 's fist calculation of his expected added total of BV + GOE+PCS of 330.82(option 2 in "chart of reality") more likely? In this case I think Yuzu might be fired up to add the 4Lz more haha
  17. Hmmm it looks like Javi is really paving his way as a coach! Perhaps his competition career might suffer a little from all these commitments, but in the long run it might actually help him with his future goal? But I do hope that he stay focused enough for this last olympic season to podium!
  18. I want them to name the back counter entry into triple axel after him! I mean...no one else is really doing it right? It's super difficult and it's quite his signature move!(he does it every season since 2011 I think?)
  19. Hahah they heard our prayer/complaints ! We finally get to see the Nigata show!
  20. But I think his 4Lo in the beginning of last season was in a better position than his 4Lz right now? (Even though he did have to relearn all his jumps due to his injury *sob), but since he landed many 4Lo during ice shows and practices even 2 years before and there were talk of it maybe being in the layout even for the 15-16 season ? And so far we have only seen him with 1 4Lz landed...and it was a saved landing too...but I guess we can never underestimate out space kitten too...it's sense not age when it comes to jumps! And the 4s.. ...took him long alright...and just when we think it becomes reliable..you put it in a combo and pop it goes!lol
  21. Lol i love how we are even taking into consideration the popping No more being a popstar this season, Mr.Hanyu!!
  22. Somebody called? Lol but tbh I think when we adore a person who loves to analyze himself so much (Mr. I love math Yuzu ehem ), overthinking is a common trait among fans haha That said, I agree that Yuzu will probably not go with layout 1...but if he can't stabilize his 4lz, he might go with layout 2 with the 5 quad but no 4lz? That will raise his bv by 1 pt only though... But shoma might not have the 4Lz too, so if he goes for his layout 1...that will make their BV almost equal at 158 ish... which still could be a close call if it's down to the judges cuz I think shoma's PCS will rise... And maybe his GOE will too if he works on his current jumps. I agree with the Nathan 6 quad, and probably go with layout 2 backloading some jumps if he stays at 6 quads...so that puts him down by 5 pt but keep in mind his PCS and GOE can rise too So I think Yuzu is looking at maybe a 5~10 pt lead if he doesn't have a 4lz?..that probably means he can have room to make only 1 small mistake if he hope to win if Nathan or Shoma are clean? Edit: the "chart of reality" above lay things out better than I said here, once again, thanks @xeyra !
  23. I am quite amazed at how he can fall in the cutest or most graceful ways like when he did that split haha Also, happy 700th page!
  24. well said‼ I truly believe that no one here lost faith in Yuzu's ability or is truly gloomy beyond hope, I mean , the race hasn't even started! I believe it's just diffent fans dealing with anticipation of coming big season differently, And like I said, some people just like to prepare for the wrost, doesn't mean we don't hope for the best for our beloved Yuzu. I especially like the detective novel analogy, because that's exactly why I like to speculate even if it brings some stressing on my brain lol Hopefully this clears some air and we can continue to satellite around the planet Hanyu and support Yuzu together~ for I wish that the PH is all encompassing of diffent fans of Yuzu!
