  1. okay. This one he definitely attracts. This could be a problem.
  2. : My clansman!
  3. I think the gardener used Yuzu panel as scarecrow? That's the only reason I can think of for the sudden appearance
  4. Thank you sooo much‼ I have been waiting for this the moment I heard that he talked about his choice of Chopin this season‼
  5. Would be something like this.... Yeah?
  6. I think more like a baby panther! Yuzu considering how lethal he becomes later
  7. So, interestingly I was reading a book called Mindset: the new psychology of success just recently, and one chapter in particular got me interested because it totally applies to Yuzuru, which is a chapter aptly titled sports : the mindset of a champion. To sum it up simply, it's a sort of growth mindset that relies not on natural talent (which is fixed and can't be improved upon),but in putting in the effort ("even if effort lies, it will help me grow in other way") that allowed the athletes to be truly sucessful. And everything they talked about, from how champion athletes view success and failure differently(they feel most successful when they are improving and doing their best, not just by winning, and they find setbacks motivating and informative= sounds like anyone we know?) to how true champions can sustain their position at the top because of the right mentality, remind me of Yuzu and his insightful talks. In the book they gave examples from different sports discipline and champion athletes from different countries, so yes, I would say what makes a champion mentality is not necessary culture dependent, but a mindset that is built on natural character+ good family and coaches who encourages that kind of thinking.
  8. Hmmm this sounds to me like severe stereotyping and targeting all skaters who were foreign-trained in general...which doesn't make her statement milder in my book, because it's basically putting down all skaters, including Yuzu, who trained abroad. I understand that her intention might be good, like she is trying to encourage more development of coaching in Japan, but she is doing it by bashing the people who seek foreigner help, and this ironically shows her own arrogance and a unsettling controlling personality ( like many of you questioned, if the skater have strong opinion of their own skating, be it music or style or costume or layout and want to try things their way first, is this then consider "not listening to their Japanese coaches"? ...if yes, then I am soooo glad that Yuzu was never under her teaching, because he would never be allowed to flourish like he did with his strong ideals and forward-thinkings like trying obscure Japanese music and taking risks with 4 Lo) But thanks for providing context and translation, @daisyjune !
  9. @daisyjune yeah it would be nice if you can give us some context by giving us her direct quotes before and after the one on the tweet so we can get the whole picture? Because that quote alone really made her sound egotistic...
  10. buuuuurrrrn! ...but I love it lol
  11. Oh I do hope the general Japanese public will have eyes like you said, unlike some of the judges (and knowing that you are Japanese gives me faith haha) But really most people will probably not read the figureskating magazine anyways, so I think this will totally go under radar for the general public~
  12. Yes, I think we all understand that Yuzu is not arrogant, but for some people who can't handle just a bit of display of confidence when he nails it or people who prefer their athletes low-key, maybe he is already overly so. This is the only place I can see him being viewed as "arrogant" , but really who gets to define that threshold of too much anyways? And he certainly has respect and humility toward his country and other skaters, so the accusations there is will just be completely false. So that's why I am saying, maybe some people do see him as arrogant, because they don't like that confidence and stubbornness he display toward his own skating, and think that he is un-japanese and what not, and that's what they are entitled to think. But as history tell us, true pioneers never was born from people who stay inside the box and thinks like sheep anyways.
  13. I think some of you might be right that this statement also sprung from fear of losing control over her own skater, plus Yuzu's success probably made her very salty that her camp couldn't produce someone like that on home soil, so she has to shut him down(and all other who attempt to escape and dare to be sucessful outside of Japanese Nagoya camp)somehow. But the funny thing is the flip side of arrogance is actually a kind of confidence that's rarely seen in Asian culture which makes a person superstar material, and that is a personality trait that Yuzu has always had before he even set foot on Canada (cue little Yuzu who says he will win olympic gold) so it's not even an oversea influence (Yuzu himself also said that he knows that he is very unjapanese in that regard)...and honestly, if he can deliver, it makes him even more of a charismatic leader. So I say... Screw them, because people who loves Yuzu probably loves him for this unapologetic, emotional superstar quality! but oh man, the politics has really begun... being a new fan I thought it was a rumor and people were being too sensative, but this proved me naive...
  14. Thank you for sharing this bit of news! I love how Yuzu is an inspiration for other athletes too! This reminds me of his wish to expand his support to other atheltic fields when he was talking about his future plans in the show with oda and shoma...stating that he believes that his experience with dealing with injuries and surgery can probably benefit others...we see here that indeed he can influence and help so many other athletes, encouraging them to come back from slumps!
  15. Being an manga/anime nerd, I can’t help but smile at the one piece 4 gear and super saiayn level3 &4 reference as comparison to Chopin 1-2-3 leveling up . We always joke about how Yuzu's insane ability and growth trajectory makes him basically a main character in shonen manga(while looking like a dream boyfriend from Shojo manga)... Maybe this time he really can reach over 9000!!!
  16. I second that notion on ring-BEARer Pooh haha, for the pun and also for the fact that Pooh has to bear (lol)witness to any important event concerning Yuzu!
  17. Just adding some perspectives into Yuzu's BV upgrade: I think someone has compiled a trend of his BV upgrade since his senior year before (couldn't remember where I saw this) and the most interesting thing I took from that was that besides the accident-laiden 14-15 season, Yuzu has upgraded his BV every year, with 16-17 season being the biggest jump in BV upgrade with 2 4Lo( this really shows his ambition and continuing thirst to evolve ), but amongst the upward trend, the last Olympic season was actually the season where he made the least upgrade...and now we are seeing the same strategy. So I think keeping the current small upgrade in BV in the SP is actually a very Yuzuru move, like some of you said, he is reaping what he sowed (with sweat and blood) for the past few years, treading on a path he has set for himself for a long time...and hopefully at the end of the road, there is that second Olympic Gold waiting for him.
  18. Ugh... Just rewatched stephane lambiel' s merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence from today's FaoI broadcast.... I now reeeeealy want Yuzu to skate to this music with live pianist at some point in his life...such a beautiful piece of music... (Please bless us with more programs after the war-horsey olympic season please‼)
  19. Hmmm.. so I tried switching to desktop version of forum and posting the link like that but it didn't automatically embed? Am I missing a step ? Like for youtube there is this youtube button but for other links there is no such thing?
  20. Can you please tell me how do I insert Twitter and Instagram link properly and have them show up as photos and videos instead of just a line of text? Thanks!
  21. Well with seimei 2.0 a lot can actually be done since there is more music material from 2 films and also he can may be challenge the concept of masculinity and wear the miko (Japanese female priestess ) costume that seimei wore for his second dance.. But yeah I am still a little worried about Chopin 3.0 just because Chopin 2.0 was so perfect already...I agree that he will probably upgrade to 4 Lutz to justify this conservative move... But this will make it harder for him to go clean...and thus put him in a more pressures position... On a brighter note though, I think Chopin is a program that grows on you. The more I watched it, the more I appreciate its subtle beauty and find news things to love about it... So maybe it will gather even more fans this time around!
  22. Hahah I was just about to link this... Great minds think alike lol And also , don't forget this
  23. Omg now that you mentioned it... He totally looks like cute kid anakin with cute baby cheeks in that pic‼ (with the robe looking similar)
  24. http://imgur.com/a/isPOR Lol... You made me laughed out loud and so here is my poorly Photoshopped version of yuzu-anakin meme haha
  25. Yeah and I think recently he is becoming more relaxed in attitude towards the Olympic in a good way. I think in an after worlds interview he said that at first he think that the Olympic game is gonna be THE ULTIMATE showing of his skating life, but after this season's growth in increment in every competition, he learned that every competition is equally important as a opportunity to show the accumulation of accomplishment in his skating thus far, and olympic is just another chance, like any other competition. I actually think this mentality will help him lift off some weird pressure and is the correct mentality to go clean and become a winner for PC olympic!
