  1. Just... wow. No matter what they claim, that group will be like the Hunger Games.
  2. I really don't have any negative thoughts about this partnership. Yes, I've read all the reasons why I should, but it still doesn't bother me. I"m more than anything else, probably because I"m not a fan of any of the parties involved.
  3. Orser must have done something right with Yuzu, or Yuzu would not have remained in Toronto for so many years... only going home because of the pandemic. So, yes, trust Yuzu.
  4. As soon as I heard Carol say she didn't care what it was about, I knew the knives would be out for her because people would take it too literally. To many it sounded as if she really didn't care what it was about... when in reality she means it's so beautiful to watch that she didn't need to know what it was about to appreciate its beauty anyway. It was beautiful no matter what. This was actually a compliment. I"m sure if she knew what this program was about she never would have said that.
  5. I"m surprised at how many people are surprised that Yuzu is going to WTT. I really didn't expect otherwise. While they may not support him much, JSF knows he is their cash cow. And he may really want to skate that free program much better too...
  6. I really want him to land that 4A. Go for it, Yuzu. Try it wherever and whenever you can, big comps or small, because you've achieved everything and more... anyone who was ever a skater, or follows skating (heck, even Lady Gaga!) knows the significance of landing that jump. Records are meant to broken, but the first 4A... that's something else.
  7. So, it sounds as if he's admitting the asthma attack and I, for one, am glad he did so. While it is very true to form to not make excuses for mistakes, his willingness to admit it this time, and still perform well enough for a bronze medal, is surely inspiration for little kids who might have the same issue... just as speaking to that athlete with asthma when he was a child, helped him. There is no shame in having a health condition that complicates matters, and he manages it... but sometimes it cannot be managed. Edit: And as for going back to Canada, I thought that once he got used to training alone, and he got over the hard parts, then he would probably stay in Japan. He is a mature athlete now, does not need to be reigned in as much like he used to either. The list of benefits he mentions really look like they outweigh the benefits of TCC. It will be interesting...
  8. Or, they're trying to look like they're minimizing the number of people the athletes/coaches come into contact with... notice I said, "trying to look like." It's like closing the door after the horses have left the barn.
  9. Lol. You are absolutely correct. I would be lying to everyone and myself if I didn't admit that I do that in many sports where i have a big favourite. In hockey, you bet i"m hoping the guy falls on a breakaway, or fans on it... in soccer, yup, i hope that guy shoots high during penalties... tennis, yup, please double fault.... in skating, well, if they happen to hit a slippery part of the ice, well, it happens.. and has nothing to do with me or my crossed fingers
  10. Ok, so it looks like World's is going to happen... unless something changes in the next short while. Yuzu didn't ask his coaches to go to Japan for Nats... what about World's? Tracy will probably go because of Jason, so there will be support from TCC, but do we think he will ask either Brian or Ghislain to make the trip? I can't imagine him wanting to do so and putting either of them at risk, but you never know.
  11. But it gets the point across! Love him. You can love or hate what he says, but he's always interesting. And I think it's adorable how much he adores Liza
  12. It's a good picture. But I can't help but notice the very obvious muscles in his thighs... while I sit here and eat a chocolate eclair....and drink an iced cappuccino (even though it's cold outside) I feel shameful, lol!
  13. OMG. The "Don" thing... I've watched that clip with Yuzu learning he'd won a million times.... and English is my first language. How on earth did I miss that? I guess being hyper focused on Yuzu is my only excuse. That's hilarious.
  14. Hopefully the damage is as reported so far. It may be much harder for people psychologically, though, as pointed out by others. At least there was no tsunami warning, which would be far worse... this happened at night, I can't even imagine how horrible it would be...worrying about a tsunami in the dark. And if they say it could be a foreshock, well, that will take its toll as well... wondering if the bigger one will strike... But the Japanese are far more familiar with this than I could ever possibly be, so I can't comment much further than that. I"m just sending well wishes and hoping this was it. On a purely looking-at-Yuzu perspective, any other year and he would be safely in Toronto at this time, not having to physically relive it.. but being in Toronto, the worry for those at home would be very high so the anxiety would still be there... esp since it happened in the morning here and they'd be anxious all day wondering what daytime in Japan would bring... both difficult positions to be in. At least everyone is all together.
  15. I"m in a little bubble. Only now do I hear that there's been an earthquake... hope all are ok....
  16. I saw him for the first time this weekend too. I liked him very much, with good energy and enthusiasm etc... A new one for me to look forward to.
  17. Exactly. I hope that it isn't true, but after decades of watching this sport, cynicism about judging just comes naturally. I have no doubt he'd land on the podium, but it's whether they'd give him gold again that I wonder about... because as we've seen, GOE and PCS can be used just like the second mark used to be in the 6.0 system. But, that's something to worry about for the future. We've seen a Yuzu this season who looks fabulous and confident and totally capable and deserving of winning Oly gold again. And right now, I want to just absorb that over and over etc...
  18. I think I watched a different program than many people. I found this H/E program to actually be more interesting and full choreographically than his previous programs (other than Origin which was packed like sardines with stuff). Neither Seimei nor H/L were any more intricate than this one... but that's just my observation.
  19. I always understood it to be 3 revs as well...and then it made sense to me watching the replays... but 2 revs? Ok, then that's nitpicking... but at least he'll always remember this and it won't happen again at a more important time.
  20. It would be interesting to know Satoko's plans re: returning to Toronto. Canada has closed its borders but many people come and go all the time. If she is allowed to go back without much difficulty (earlier in the summer there was uncertainty about entry) then the possibility exists for Yuzu to do the same should he so wish. At this time of heightened alert because of the new variants currently spreading it might not be something he'd want to risk now, and with winter it's projected to get worse, but just knowing admission is possible would be something worth knowing. Even though Ontario has just started lockdown for a month (Toronto extends their lockdown), high performance athletes are allowed to train.
  21. And it helps that there is some fabulous music to accompany the tv series about the figures he's interested in....
  22. And isn't that just like him? When i saw Lee Barkell, I wondered if it would have been possible for one of the TCC coaches to go too, but their health status/risk factors are unknown, and both are older, so I thought he probably would think of them first and not ask.
