  1. I remember seeing a video of a local Sendai TV interview of Yuzuru following his bronze medal finish at the 2012 Worlds. During the interview, they displayed his 2012 Worlds brronze medal and his gold medal from the 2011 Rostelecom Cup and the male interviewer suggested that he should be satisfied with having accomplished this much. He also asked Yuzu what his forte was, what kind of skater he wanted to be – a jumper, a skater, a spinner, etc. – and Yuzu answered that he wanted to be good at everything. The interviewer kind of chuckled and said that everyone wanted to be good at everything, but implied that this was not possible. How Yuzuru has proved him wrong!
  2. Robin Cousins of BBC during the 2017 WC medal ceremony: "This is the one he's been waiting for because he's not had a performance like this since he won the Olympic gold medal." Robin Cousins and his female co-commentator were also under the impression that Shoma Uno had beaten Yuzuru at the last Japanese Nationals. They did not know that Yuzuru had withdrawn from the Nationals due to catching flu. Even Simon Reed, a big fan of Yuzuru's, seems to have black holes in his memory because immediately after Yuzu finished his SP at the GPF in Marseille, he said words to the effect of: "The last two years have been meagre pickings for him really, he's been runner-up to Fernandez, and although they're good friends, it must've been tough for him." Really? What happened to winning the GPF three times in a row? What happened to the world record breaking performances at 2015 NHK Trophy and the 2015-16 GPF in Barcelona? These are just examples of two commentators. I know that others have made comments which have made me shake my head. These are guys who are avid about skating and that do this for a living and yet their memories are short. I suspect that most judges do not follow skating as closely as we do or even as closely as these commentators do. As someone else mentioned in this thread, the skaters must seem like a blur to judges after watching them skate all day and evening. All they are looking for are clean skates. I am personally very happy with his program choices, especially SEIMEI. Both Chopin and SEIMEI are programs worthy of the Olympics. Phil Hersh tweeted the following after Yuzu's world record FS performance at the 2015-16 GPF in Barcelona: 12 December 2015 – 12:59 PM I have never seen anything in skating remotely close to what Yuzuru Hanyu has done in #GPFBarcelona & NHK. He just topped his records again. 12 December 2015 – 1:01 PM One can only hope Yuzuru Hanyu can skate close to this level at 2018 Oly so the world will realize how extraordinary he is. it would be a real waste if Yuzuru did not perform these iconic programs at the Olympics so that the GENERAL PUBLIC and not just skating fans get to witness how extraordinary he really is.
  3. Just think, we are going to see his iconic program live!!!
  4. SERIOUSLY, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!
  5. OMG!!! I can't believe that we are angsting over his skate guards! YUZU, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO US!!??
  6. We are so desperate for news that we are discussing his new skate guards!!!
  7. WTF??? I finally caught up through almost 70 pages!!? SO MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING!!!
  8. Well something must've happened... This thread has exploded over 50 pages since I last looked last night! I guess I will eventually find out as I work my way through these pages...
  9. Notre Dame de Paris meets Semei in a boob skirt???
  10. They're not kidding when they call them small medals!
  11. Today has been a good day for me. I had been waiting for flight confirmation from Air Canada since I require an attendant to travel with me. The attendant has to be physically strong enough to transfer me from the wheelchair to the airplane seat and vice versa. My doctor had to complete a "Fitness for Air Travel" form confirming that I was fit to travel in an airplane and that I required an attendant to travel with me. If a special needs passenger requires an attendant to travel and the flight is totally within Canada, Air Canada will allow the attendant to fly free of charge (except for taxes) if a doctor certifies that an attendant is necessary. I received flight booking confirmation today for me, my wife and my friend who will be accompanying us to Montréal for the Autumn Classic International. Furthermore, I had been waiting for confirmation from a vehicle rental company in Montréal that a wheelchair accessible van will be available during our stay in Montréal and I received that today as well. I had already arranged for accommodations through AirBNB – a three bedroom condo from Tuesday, September 19 until Wednesday, September 27. We plan to do some sightseeing, including driving to Ottawa and Québec City. (Another guy may be able to join us depending on his work situation and hence the third bedroom.) So now I am really feeling that I am going to the ACI! The only problem is that I was unable to get passes for Friday, September 22 – the short program day. I was a bit late in getting tickets, so I was only able to get four passes for Thursday, September 21 and four passes for Saturday, September 22. And now, I find out that Javi will also be competing there! Bonus! So who's all going? We should try to get together – at least to say "Hi!" If someone has a banner, I will force my friend (who is a guy) to hold it upside down, jump around, and keep yelling, "Hey Yuzu!" and "Hey Javi!", until we get their attention. And tomorrow or so we should be finding out about Yuzu's free program!
  12. An alien space kitty Benjamin Button???
  13. That peach looks more like somebody's butt! (No wonder she's touching it...)
  14. I got Parisienne Walkwways! Watching Yuzuru perform this in the team and individual events at the 2014 Sochi Olympics is what started me on the path to Yuzu fanhood!
  15. I bought the Blu-ray when it came out and you won't be disappointed with your purchase. Being able to watch Yuzuru's performances in HD and stereo on larger TV screens and home theatre systems over two or three hours can never be a bad thing!
  16. Or a guy holding an upside down banner yelling, "Hey Yuzu!!!"
  17. First of all, thank you very much for adding English subtitles to "Kenji's Room" Episode 1. It must have been a lot of work. I understand Japanese, but English translations and subtitles are really appreciated by members of this forum who do not understand Japanese. It makes these interesting videos accessible to them. The only thing I would like to mention is that the term "Jap" is inappropriate and should be avoided – even if used in conjunction with another word. As I have stated before in this forum, the term "Jap" should not be used as an abbreviation for "Japanese". As stated in one dictionary: "This term is a slur and should be avoided. It is used with disparaging intent and is perceived as highly insulting. A contemptuous term used to refer to a Japanese. Extremely disparaging and offensive." It is similar to using the "N" word when referring to black people or using the word "Chink" when referring to Chinese. I do not know what "Japrussian" means, but i am inferring that this is a combination of Japanese and Russian or something that pertains to both. I know that you did not intend any offense by using this term, but I think that a more appropriate phrase would be "Russo-Japanese" or simply saying "Japanese Russian". If you are able to type out the full word, "Russian", it doesn't take much more effort to type out a few more letters for the full word, "Japanese". I am not being nitpicky or self-righteous or preaching, and hate sounding like a broken record, but I think that it is important to educate people so that they do not inadvertently say or do things that may be offensive to others.
  18. Thanks to @Pamigena for my avatar and now my new desktop wallpaper!
  19. Exacto! And Yuzu seems to want to keep it that way...
  20. I was noticing that Yuzu doesn't look much shorter than Evgeny Plushenko in this picture. And Yuzu's one knee appears to be slightly bent. Plushenko's stated height is 178 cm or 5 feet 10 inches tall. (Sorry for bringing up the subject of Yuzu's height again!)
  21. The guy is Simon Reed, but I don't know who the woman is.
  22. Here's the full video. Yuzu was practising his EX "Hello I Love You" at 2012 Skate America when this happened...
  23. You have no idea how bad... http://entdata-pic.stor.vipsinaapp.com/2014101413/543cb37cb2f1ep2198819082.jpg (Sorry, but this image will not embed. Don't be too surprised.)
