Update on his injury:
According to Ms. Kabayashi of JFS, the team doctor palpated him and diagnosed that he has "anterior tibiofibular ligament injury", "triangular ligament injury" and is suspected to have damaged peroneal muscle and tendon. Kobayashi said that his ankle is swollen a bit now. The injury is now being treated with icing and compression. He is also trying to lie down putting his foot up. He'll go back to Toronto or Japan to receive a full treatment.

Sorry if this is not so comprehensible. I'm not a medical specialist so I am not sure if this is a correct explanation in English.

Googled on how long it takes for the peroneal muscle and tendon to heal: Patients usually recover fully but this can take considerable time. You must be patient and allow the tendon to heal before going back to activity. If you need surgery, your recovery time may be substantial. You may be instructed not to put your foot down with weight for about six weeks.

I really hope he withdraws from the GPF. 3 weeks is just not enough time.

Thank you so much! The other translation from twitter went with ”inferior tibial fatigue injury” but the other two seem the same. I know it’s always tricky translating medical jargon so thank you even more!

I never thought that I would again tackle on medical terms this year :13877886:
Hope he'll be able to focus on healing and get better soon.

Yeah, no one wanted to be here again. :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:

So basically we know nothing.

(Yes I’m apparently handling things by trying to research the heck out of them. I’m not even surprised.)

Ok so I researched bc I was curious and only read if you want to also hop on the depression train w me tbh.

Obviously not much is known of his injury so this is basically a moot point until we know more (and hopefully these are the worst case scenarios?)

I got too tired to search for triangle ligament damage bc i should still be studying :P

anterior tibiofibular ligament injury

  Reveal hidden contents

peroneal muscle tendon injury

  Reveal hidden contents

He really shouldn't skate until he's fully healed bc it will make his injury worse and 3 weeks is not enough time tbh (unless it's not as bad as it sounds which is unlikely:13877886:). I'll support whatever he chooses but please Yuzuru put your health first for now.

I don’t think we can trust anything the Federation says. Yuzu specifically told us yesterday that he would need three weeks of complete rest so, including adjustment period, it would be difficult for him to even make it to the Nationals. I can’t help but think that he is trying to tell us the truth but isn’t allowed to announce his WD until the last minute for reasons. Not really his but those of all the parties concerned.

(And, hi everyone! )
