The problem with hype - yes it's great that Nathan got into Yale, but getting in is just the beginning- now he's got to adjust to a higher level of study etc etc.  Yale will make concessions and help where they can but at the end of the day he still has to get the grades.  I don't know about the US but in the UK to do medicine you have to maintain 50% + in all subjects - slip a mark below 50% in anything and you have to retake, and you're only allowed one second chance.  It's also very time consuming- pretty much 9-5 plus prep in the evenings/ weekends.  I know he's going to do pre med but it's still an ambitious plan.

 

  At least the timing works for him- it's the post Olympic season so if he does get into difficulties he's got time to rethink and postpone if he decides it's too much and he wants to give the skating priority for a while.
