I’m just so happy and motivated right now, I hope it’ll last OMG yayyyyy!! 3turns are a big milestone I am happy today, too. I fixed the timing of my toe and sal. Now I am managing to counter-rotate my arms a bit before I take off for my toe (I used to start the rotation with my arms already turned out) and I learned to settle on my lbi between 3turn and sal and still create enough momentum for the jump without using the momentum of the 3turn. Also I am starting to make it a habit to keep my landing leg straight during jumps. And I have been doing waltz+toe+toe... and sal+toe combos. Combos are a whole new level of fun! robin
Is it twizzles if I do rbo and rfi 3turns in quick succession? (my record is 6)
Xen
Need help....I finally got a coach, and coach says I need to go back and work on my basics, so I'm also kicked back to crossovers. T_T According to coach, I rely too much on my first push to get speed, and that underpush is just a feeble little thing. So my speedboost is not ideal. Anyone have suggestions on how to improve that? I've never had such issues on my crossovers before that I'm a bit lost. And such a pointed specific issue too. On a side note, I get somewhat how Yuzu felt when he got told by Brian to work on skating skills. Today my first session was the same-passed my spins portion, passed my jumps portion, got told to go practice crossovers. It's a bit like, you can do really advanced linear algebra, but get told by your professor that you need to go back and do your multiplication tables. I’m still a total noob and can’t actually do it properly myself, but we did an exercise this week that was supposed to tackle that issue as well where you’d basically repeat that underpush or whatever you want to call it several times in a row before continuing with the crossover I’m proud to say I only fell once trying to do it lol

So far I'm trying to come up with exercises that can be used, since I actually find most footwork practice really boring. T_T Currently listing crossover-3turn-back mohawk-crossover on a circle as one. 5 hours ago, robin said: coooool! robin
I had my second lesson today and after I complained about too many people being there last time they made a new group with less people. So today there was just me and one other person and I had a really really good lesson. The teacher taught me loops and I actually ended up landing proper ones towards the end of the lesson. In the beginning of the lesson loops felt impossible but I actually managed. So that was really great And the teacher is also happy with my sals now. I land good ones consistently which is also really great
robin
For me loops work better tanoed. Holding up my right arm helps me straighten my posture and “pull” myself up

I am still trying to get the timing I get scared even thinking about backspins D:
axelnojutsu
Is there a way to reduce nausea from spins other than just doing it 1000000 times? I get motion sickness after like 2 rotations, it's kinda counterproductive

I think you just get used to it, and the dizziness is less if you manage to center your spin-that's actually my way of checking if I centered my spins. Very Dizzy-didn't center. Not dizzy or only slightly dizzy-centered the spin. Better explained here:

Not dizzy or only slightly dizzy-centered the spin. yeah, i've realized this too - randomly spinning myself around (whether on ice or in an office chair or whatever) for a couple of rotations = super dizzy and nauseous. but doing 15 rotations on ice in a semi-centered spin = 5 seconds of lightheadness, but no nausea or prolonged dizziness. i have noticed that i get dizzy when i spin faster than usual, but after a while when i get used to it i stop getting dizzy. and then i get dizzy again as i get even faster tbf i kind of enjoy being really dizzy, idk why, i'm such a masochist

Masochism and figure skating go together- otherwise why would you consider the risk of dizziness, risk of kneecaps hurting, thighs hurting, ankles hurting all in a good day of practice?
