June 27, 20224 yr Since I love to overanalyse...Honestly, what Yuzuru has said in his recent interviews would make no sense if he's planning on r*. Spoiler 1. He's still passionate about 4A and aims to land it in front of "everyone". 2. He wants people to think he's in his top form (technically) and will keep honing his jumps (not just 4A). 3. He emphasises that FS is a sport. By practicing 4A and other difficult elements, he's putting the same amount of strain on his body/ankle anyway as he would if he were to compete. And 4A is already a dangerous jump, why would he attempt it in a dimly lit arena (ice shows) in subpar conditions? His chances of successfully completing the jump would drop, while (unfortunately) the likelihood of injury would increase. This doesn't only apply to 4A, but other difficult jumps as well: there is a reason why his exhibition programs don't have quads in them. In addition, "sport" literally means a physical activity in which athletes compete against each other. Why would he emphasise the sport aspect and technical difficulty level, if he's considering retirement? This discussion would sound lunatic in the context of any other sport or any other athlete, lol. @LiaRy Looking forward to the interview
June 27, 20224 yr @YuDaiI'm curious what content we're going to get. All stops surprised us one way or another so far, Nagoya needs to up its game
June 27, 20224 yr @YuDai I agree with you, said something similar, but don't remember in which thread. Spoiler I didn't mention the 4A issue there, but it makes a perfect sense for me what you're saying - why would he bother with 4A - he's still very persistent, he's talking about sport and athleticism, I think the only difference may be that he cares less to be the 1st one to jump 4A, but more to complete this dream for himself. Also, when you mentioned that he himself said he was in his top form - that's something we were saying many times, but now he confirmed it. Finally - I think his combos and jumps during the shows were top quality, he's definitely still improving, he's amazing.
