The skating especially in the FS was eye glaring and at least I'm consistent, I criticize Nathan for his empty program, I criticize Shoma for his as much empty program as well. 95 PCS for that skate and with that many mistakes. It was far from clean.
March 26, 20224 yr Obviously I know about the whole overscoring problem but unfortunately I really don't know enough about the calculations of PCS etc to ever comment - I don't even know how Shoma's score compared with Yuzu's usual scores so I know I can't really comment. Based on today's I agree with Shoma's gold medal because he skated the best, but I do want to point out that I trust everyone here who says he's overscored. Edit: AND that Yuzu is underscored, obviously.

Ten points less than the highest combined score since the +5 -5 change… Also only a difference of ten points to the marvelous performances of Yuzu at Nationals.

March 26, 20224 yr What a difference a full crowd makes. It was so nice to hear all the cheers and...noise! I think the skaters really felt it. They just seemed happier... maybe more tired physically, but also energized b/c of the crowd. Congratulations to Shoma. And I say again, you know he was going to get extra PCS marks because he was the winner. They always throw candies at the winner. I also think he was more relaxed here. He knew neither Yuzu nor Nathan were here, so he had a fabulous chance of winning. It really was his to lose. Yuma has such speed and flow, I love his long edges. He hovers in the air when he jumps which really is an amazing quality. Camden had a fabulous skate. I was so happy for him, and his reaction in the KnC was great too. Redemption after a tough year. I wish he'd skate like this more often. The judges would love to give him the marks, I think. Happy for Vincent's bronze. While no big fan of his, he had a rough go at the Olympics so it was nice to see him get a good result. Morisi had a great skate too. Ilia. Well, there you go, kid. You have to learn to compete on the big stage before you boast too much. Looking at him today, I think he might have some more growing ahead of him too. Half of him looks to have grown, but the top half hasn't. Only time will tell. I do think he has good technique, though, and his presentation will improve. Lots of potential. Adam had such a great skate. The last time I saw him he was falling everywhere, so this was nice to see... especially at home! The crowd was so supportive too. Finally a good skate for Roman. Terrible Olympics but a good way to end the season. Edit: It's World's. You all should have expected higher scores than you'd normally think you'd see.
