Haha I really miss him a lot, especially today. The performances today were ok, but no one is like him and it’s just not the same without him *sigh* (don’t care about scoring, no score will ever do him justice)
March 24, 20224 yr I finished watching men's SP and I saw the protocols. I think it's time for me to withdraw for some time. I wish everyone health and happiness. I hope Yuzu get well soon. Bye guys❤️. Bye FS.
March 24, 20224 yr I don't know what others who say Shoma has improved a lot can see because I can't see at all. He is just two foot skating with lots of crossovers

He is just two foot skating with lots of crossovers People are probably remembering the past seasons when he was a mess during his dramatic coaching change. In reality, Shoma has always been a strong performer. He is also very impressive to watch live. Personally, I think his PC should be high in all categories except transitions. However, it is his GOE that I find baffling. Anyway, I am only interested in a medal for Kazuki. I do like both Yuma and Shoma and an all Japanese podium would be great. But I am willing to sacrifice both of them for Kazuki this time
March 24, 20224 yr I just want to share this: the moment when Ivan was sent to the ice and the welcomed by Alexandra&Maxim (his fellow ice dancer team) with tears was so touching to me. I've been following their IG accounts where they share a lot about their recent situation, it's beyond my imagination what they went through during the last few weeks. I'm so moved to see them here supporting each other and also receiving so much support from the audience and all the others. There something special about the dignity emanating from their faces.

March 24, 20224 yr Finally managed to catch up on the thread. I am officially baptised and attended my first FS competition. I loved Roman and Camden. I changed my mind about Deniss’ SP music. On TV it always sounded flat to me but live in the arena it actually has an umpf that made me like it, probably due to the deep beat of the drums during the step sequence. Ivan and the standing ovation that he got made me sob ugly. Kazuki was beautiful to watch. Yuma’s jumps are amazing, not gonna lie. I hope that he will improve in the PCS department. He is still very young. Not going to comment on the score. Shoma’s was a nice skate as well. His jump technique is always questionable for me but Stephane has managed to bring something out of him that he didn’t have before. He is letting himself show a lot more, crawled out of his shy shell. I guess all those face slaps did the trick. Ilia is a nice jumper at this point but everything else is just meh. He is at the growing stage where he is all legs and no control, and the music choice doesn’t really suit his teenage personality and experience. No comment on Morisi. 🤐 I’ll be going back tomorrow for the ladies’ free. Can’t wait to see Kaori

There has not been much improvement in the past couple of years. Again, with the scores he has been getting, he doesn't need to improve. The fed will do the improvement for him.

He is just two foot skating with lots of crossovers Shoma criticism under spoiler Spoiler He also still be using the same drama arms he's been using forever, or straight or bended, but rarely "fluid". For flow, the move should start from the back and extend to fingertips. Most of the times his arms look like a "polygonal chain" attached to his body instead, even when he's supposedly doing a softer move. I watched his sp and fs from olys without music (when I checked because nosed in a twitter squabble over his deserving or not bronze) and well, it was hard to tell those were actually different programs to different music. I hadn't watched them at all with music on at that point. He could also have been skating to Winter and Turandot for what I knew, the way he moved was the same. Ironically, the one choreo move that stood out to me in the fs as striking was a lot less striking when rewatched with music on. IMO he had more distinctive choreos than this set of programs that, ironically, will probably be what will give him a WC title. But it's not like recent WCs gold had better programs, so who cares. 8 hours ago, Dominique said: I have a feeling that USFS will try everything to get Ilia on the podium If he manages to land his jumps on his feet he will, out of tes alone. He wouldn't even need inflated pcs (that he's sure to get), I expect Kazuki to be pushed out unceremoniously, since JSF only cares about S and Y anyway and USFSA is already so set on replacing their precious quad king just one month after Beijing. who cares Yuma is getting same PE and IN than Shoma, he has slightly (ever so slightly) more skating content for tr and it's not like Shoma's tes are sane anyway. Jsf seems sooo happy with both, how lovely. But big LOL at Yuma with mistake being so close to Stockholm LMEY. As if we didn't knew already that score had been daylight robbery🙄🙄🙄 (eta: big lol at Shoma's empty generic sp scoring higher than that too) Sad for Donovan WD and Jun's issues, happy for Roman and Camden (but sighing at their pcs, even more so in comparison to...some) and for Deniss and Kazuki. Ivan Shmuratko's skate and post skate was touching, heartbreaking in a way. I hope this WC can be a nice one for him at least.

March 24, 20224 yr Few words about Ilia - I've been watching him for few seasons now and all I can say is I can't see anything special about his skating. Yes, he can land some quads, but neither quality nor anything else is unique or memorable. We've already seen so many quads, can they themselves excite anyone at this point? <excluding lobbyists> Imo, the quality of elements makes so much bigger difference in overall impression. E.g. Kaori's 2axel brings me much more excitment than an average quad (not mentioning fake quads with poor technique). The only things I can remeber from Ilia's performances so far are exaggerated pumping of sensation plus overwhelming costumes. Yet, I guess, another star is born in figure skating dystopian little world.
March 24, 20224 yr I bring this analysis over Shoma because I really can't see any improvement in his skating other than him following Nathan's root and arranging his programs such that he can land his jumps. I don't mean to offend his fans, because I can see some might find him cute and so adore him but skating and skill wise, there is no improvement there to me. Not as much as his scores suggest (going from 101 to 109 in 3 months wtf)
March 25, 20224 yr I really don't understand how Shoma is even an Olympic medalist...twice. Like his jumps are just big fraud.

For me the improvement is not about how he skates, but more how he presents himself. He is enjoying himself a lot more out there than 3-4 years ago and he is letting it show. That’s it.
