It's a long hike,,like over 12 miles and parts are grueling. (I haven't even tried....). However, if he wanted to include a 10+ hour hike in his self-produced show, best to do it while he is still in peak military condition. And, i don't know anyone who runs out and buys a $97000 necklace. Do you? I am really happy to see how quickly he was signed as an 'ambassador" for a high end luxury brand. His hair hasn't even grown out yet -- but he looks gorgeous.

I love window-shopping high-end jewelry - I'm a magpie for all the gemstones - and I've lesrned that if something is priced this high, it's usually a one-off to show the brand's style and attract customers who then buy something less pricey, or it's made to order for the client. So a), it'll always be 'sold out', and b ) the part we're not seeing is that showing Jin in this piece will likely attract a few thousand customers who'll buy something in the $500 - $2000 range, which is what most of these companies really want. In any case, good for Jin! It suits him. Edit: case in point - the FRED bracelet for the Special Olympics donorship is 1550€

The mmost expensive thing any of the members wear are their watches.... And the cost of the Special Olympics bracelet is still way too pricey but it's a good cause and they re probably getting lots of people to buy those. Because it would be nice to be able to at least see some of the pieces in person, even if it's way above my price zone
Old Cat Lady
I'm a little surprised at how much of a reaction there is to this ambassadorship. Some people are determined to be unhappy - soon after news of the jewelry Jin was wearing selling out, people on Twitter were complaining about how Army has money to sell out such expensive jewelry but Army accounts are still waiting on funding. And of course, there're the idiots complaining about him not using his influence to free Palestine, as if any celebrity could . Some are even claiming that the jewelry is low quality and people are only buying it for the name. On the other end of the spectrum, there are so many thirst tweets by locals and even some who claim to actively dislike BTS. Jimin and Tae are much more popular but I don't remember all this from either end of the spectrum when their jewelry ambassadorships were announced and selling out the jewelry they wore - just ecstatic Armies celebrating. Knock off merch for me. I'm starting to feel bad for RJ. Looks like Wotteo is surpassing his big brother More on the school visit Disregarding the fact that it's not even close to pop music, Billboard once again chose RM as the best Kpop album of the year so far. Of all of them, I'm happiest to see RM get his critic flowers since the fans don't give as many to him as the others

Namjoon's albums are not K-pop. I wonder how he feels about his mature solo work being categorized this way. It's even more inaccurate than calling Layover K-pop when it''s really more bluesy/jazz. Is D-Day K-pop? Billboard does not know where or how to put their solo stuff. Even BTS OT7 have transcended K-pop. I'd say Golden qualifies as pop but it's not even mentioned. @Old Cat Lady touched on a topic that makes me so angry and incensed - that any member or individual or BigHit or Hybe can do anything about the war in the middle east. Even global heads of state are powerless on this. And where were all, where are all these ARMYs as Russia slaughters Ukrainians and perpetrate war crimes on an almost daily basis (latest being the targeting of a children's hospital with a guided missile)? Demanding the Scooter be fired - why? because he's Jewish? His only public comment about that horror was "In late November, Braun also shared a statement on Instagram that said he prays 'for every Israeli and Palestinian.'" And if I was near a Fred store or a place where they sell such stuff, I'd dress nicely, as if I had lots of money, and walk in and try some stuff on. As @rockstaryuzu has said -- the luxury brands the members are ambassadors for aren't expecting ARMYs to be buying the high end stuff, but the "more affordable" merch - with the excpetion of Calvin Klein. Eminently affordable.

Spoiler That's a whole rabbit hole, but keep in mind that most ARMY disliked and distrusted 🛴 long before Oct 7 and all that came after. I personally have thought the man was a sleaze since the days when he managed the very underage Justin Bieber and nearly broke the kid with overwork, among other things. I never liked what he did to Taylor Swift, refusing to let her buy her own masters back. And there sure seems to be a very long list of artists who've worked with him and then had to walk away with nothing good to say. I always wondered exactly what Bang PD thought he was doing teaming up with the guy. None of any of that has to do with SB being Jewish. Near as I can tell, the boycott crew also had a pre-existing dislike of SB and have seized on the current situation as a an excuse to try and pressure Hybe into dumping him. Which is the part where I realized they weren't being genuine in their activism and decided to ignore them. Because that's not about helping people anymore, it's about them having an axe to grind. As for celebrities speaking out on certain issues: think of Jane Fonda opposing the Vietnam draft and then tell me whether they should, or shouldn't, use their position to advocate for good causes. Did Fonda stop the draft or the war? No. But she sure as heck exposed a whole lot of things that were wrong about it and that helped change public opinion. However, I do strongly believe nobody should be forcing or expecting celebrities to speak out on a particular cause. For starters, the artist or celebrity might have a different opinion about the issue than the one fans want them to have! Additionally, celebrities are not elected representatives; they don't have a public mandate to do whatever their constituency (i.e. fans) demand. And finally, their speaking out may backfire, especially in tense geopolitical times.

Taylor Swift also spoke out against him voicing her opposition. 🤷🏻♀️ All that has been shown during these last 10 months is how self-centered celebrities can be. This is not an election issue that can go away in 4 years. This is a systematic, intentional, clear as day genocide that is going on. Celebrities can help by donating funds to families who have the chance to escape but need thousands of dollars to do so. I'd actually argue celebrities have a responsibility to speak up because they are in the limelight. They can move masses because, let's face it, people are stupid enough to wait and be told something before they do it and celebrity worship is a thing. Scooter made it clear that he's a zionist. This is not about him being jewish, please let's not mix one thing with the other. He has taken celebrities to Israel without them knowing that they were actually taking part in festivals promoting the state (Demi Lovato). So, while I don't agree the way this group of people is harassing BTS, I do wish there was a way to have a conversation with them about this matter somehow in a civilised, non-invasive way once they all got out. Not as a protest. They have made their whole career about fighting for the minority, and this should not be an exception.
barbara
I think we can all agree that war sucks and the slaughter of innocent civilians unacceptable. And I know that SB is no one's fave. Yes, the members of BTS have, in a sort of non-specific way, supported causes. Unicef is hardly controversial and I think that unless your voice illuminates something unseen, it's too easy for blowback from haters. I will say that Sean Penn, who I have never liked -- though he is incredibly gifted - has done more for Ukraine than any celeb I know of. He never sought the limelight for it, but did promote his work a couple of times on legit news shows. That aside - Happy Army Day.
