General Yuzuru Chat

All this talk about his current layout... don't forget that "4Lz" is easy to write to make some base value calculations, but super difficult to perform irl. We're talking about a jump people didn't think would happen in competition just two seasons ago.

We know Yuzu is working on it. We also know he aims at perfect performances.

The way I understand his current layout and the fact that he's training 3A as a last jump for emergency, make me think that he wants to add the 4Lz (in 4S stead) and is preparing for it - but will add it only if he is consistent enough to skate the program clean.

In a way, if I'm right, he's applying the strategy Brian wanted him to use last season with the 4Lo...

May I ask you about the interview of Brian Orser, Tracy Wilson and the choreographers Shayleen, David Wilson. What did they say about the programs SP and FP? What is the part of David Wilson in the programs Or he only does the Ex The Swan like last year?

I try to read those 100 pages since yesterday, but I may miss this information.

Thank you very much.

I like both programs. I agree with his choices.

They showed on the news a little something from Brian's interview ... the others, I believe it will be today, in the second day of open practice.

You can find it in here .. from min 4 i think ...

Just yesterday I was still completely convinced he wouldn't bring back Seimei x_x But I'm definitely not against it now... He made a risk back in the 2015-16 season deciding to skate to something relatively obscure with traditional Japanese roots that might not have appealed to the general audience, but managed to make it completely his own and turn it into the stuff of legends it is today. And he's making an even bigger risk now, vowing that he's aiming to go beyond what, I thought, was practically perfection. Like that tweet a couple posts above said, he really poured himself and his love for his country into Seimei and I'm really happy that he's now able to bring it to the world stage, because it really does deserve to be at the Olympics. (It's 3 am here which means it's emo hours, I guess :13877886: I just love Seimei a lot, it encapsulates him through and through ) (I'm also clinging onto the idea that he won't r**** with repeated programs. right??? :tumblr_inline_n18qr5AMus1qid2nw:)

As for the layout...,.,., :S I'm not well versed enough on technical aspects but judging from what we see from Evgenia, being clean + consistent certainly pays off and still no one's broken his 219 score with 3 quads. He's aiming to win with two clean programs. And if Seimei, with this "easier" layout (for now?), is skated clean + a clean Ballade, then I'd still believe he'd win, no matter what the other competitors are doing. Even considering the inevitable inflation of PCS and whatnot for oly. season, to attain the kind of scores that Yuzuru gets would mean that they'd have to come close to what he's able to do and his kind of quality, which is, imo, not in the cards for any of them right now? Of course I'd hate for him to not go completely clean and be overtaken by a higher BV, but winning with a riskier layout + a few mistakes a la Sochi wouldn't be a victory he'd want anyway, right? sooooo tldr I'm pretty chill with no 4lz :~)

on the 4lz issue >>

its also easy to forget that a big reason why this program is coming back? if performed clean with the original layout it was capable of getting scores that would have still come out on top at worlds this year with a decent margin (!! Shoma got 214.45 for his free. GPF seimei would beat the strongest performance Shoma had all year. Nathan's strongest performance last year was only 204 in the fs). this layout is still an upgrade from last year and a pretty big upgrade from the original just without the high risk of a new jump. skated clean its....fine.

every single element of the program was already high level and yuzu is upgrading everything from the jumps, to the steps, to the tr and his skills and interpretation...everything. this about how last season was pm a study in performance and interpretation for him (connecting with the crowd and giving more nuanced expression) plus how much he packed into choreo and transitions last season...now he's going to apply that to his two best programs.

hes fine lol. I'm back to being excited.

I just realised poor Javi is going to be the guinea pig for this. :tumblr_m9gct8HYvv1qzckow:

Who knows, this might encourage Javi to put in that 4Lo. Maybe this was Brian's plan all along.. :text-line-smiley-095:

...And Yuzu was in on it? :devilYuzu:

Regarding layout, some of us are still considering the option of a 4Lz because it would make more sense in a 5-quad layout; otherwise he's taking out a 3A to repeat a 4T/4S, which would mean relatively little BV payoff for the added risk. But still, as @CupidsBow said, none other than Yuzuru has gotten close to the scores he got with the 3-quad SEIMEI. As long as he's clean (and consistency/high average has been the goal for a while), he'll be fine. So, while I'm still holding my breath for the posibility of 4Lz if he feels it's ready, I'm not worried about his chances overall: he's confident, healthy, and he's putting in the work; that's all anyone can do at this point.

And regarding the recycling, I do get why some people are disappointed and it's completely fine to feel that way. I was mostly expecting it this time and SEIMEI is such a powerful, obvious Olympic program that I came to terms with it much sooner than Chopin tbh, but I understand where the frustration is coming from. It might seem reactive the SP is, in a way and safe with the similar layout so far, but at the same time he's taking the challenge to go up against the ghost of himself and the monster scores he got with these two programs. Yes, judges may nitpick everything he does wrong and pull him down because they know he can deliver almost perfection, but he's also forcing their hand if he goes clean; they can't score these versions lower than the previous ones if he does, so.

At the end of the day, Yuzuru has taken the two programs he's more comfortable and confident in and worked to make them more. If that's the way he feels is right to deliver then it was the right decision for him, because when he delivers he's still untouchable.

:knc_brian3: : Yuzu, help me. How can I convince Javi to put a 4Lo on his layout.

:hachimaki:: Get him to compete against me at ACI (can we get Patrick Chan-senshu as well :tumblr_inline_n2pje2YFXq1qdlkyg:)

:knc_brian2:         :devilYuzu:

Yes, please get Patrick too, to encourage him for 4F:rofl:
