  1. The US reseller is Co-Sport and they are already sold out for now, but maybe they'll get additional tickets? I got my initial set from them, though the seats weren't as good. I'd seen it as a meme for a long time. I'm glad to finally learn its origins!! :rofl2: :rofl2: What fanart?? Links please! I must see this! This needs to happen! This can be his new POTO costume! :rofl2: And most importantly, he'd finally have a suit that would fit him!!! :sadPooh: :sadPooh: :sadPooh: *Pooh tears of joy* Here's one: https://twitter.com/runrun8383/status/8 ... 72/photo/1 I forget where I saw others Haha how did you meet so many people at Worlds?! hahaha BTW, I usually root against the Americans in most every sport just because NBC (or whatever american channel i have to watch) usually makes me so annoyed at them by the time they actually perform that i just have a bias against them. We stayed next door to the skater's hotel, and some skaters were in our hotel too. Ran into the Shibs often. Reminds me I still need to post my fashionably late Tumblr review...after finals after finals. I agree with this. I think the Chinese ladies skater posted a video from 2016 worlds banquet and they were chatting and he sounded pretty natural and chatty. We just aren't treated to that side enough. One could probably argue that it would make more sense for the rest of the skating world to learn better Japanese instead of all the Japanese skaters learning better English :s_tongue you know, as a more market-oriented strategy English is still pretty useful to know (unless you're Shoma it seems), but some are already doing it. Jason Brown very clearly knows his future, lol.
  2. I met Takeshi at worlds and had a nice chat with him. He does speak very good English. Shizuka's English is also decent. I was too nervous to try in Japanese, haha. The only person I actually spoke it with that was a skater or coach ended up being Kevin Reynolds of all people...to the surprise and delight of some nearby Japanese fans who were listening in. :rofl2:
  3. I want him to do team to get his feet under him. I think he performed the singles SP better than his team SP. Maybe that can be part of the divine power    Whatever it is please make it so for a 2nd consecutive OGM for Yuzu, skate gods oh wise ones.
  4. Thank you guys for your insight about the team event! I think I'll keep them.
  5. Even if there was time, it is not an overnight process to get back into shape, get all jumps back, and get good consistency on them in time to go to Nationals and make a case for herself. I suspect that we'd need to see progress now. She didn't get like this because she was injured and couldn't skate.
  6. Something that doesn't really have any substance, can be fun lighthearted entertainment of sorts. e.g.: doing a fluff piece on skaters before the olympics for casual viewers who might not know who they are. im also curious about this. does japan's chance rely entirely on their pairs later? or they already qualify? is there a worst case scenario where japan wont perform in team event ? Both the Japanese pair and Ice Dance team needs to qualify at Nebelhorn...so...yeah. I never really thought about it but fluff actually has quite a few different meanings (some less innocent than others). You're not making it seem like the chances are good. Really considering if I want to go to team or do something else those days, like maybe visit Hong Kong :P.
  7. From google trans, lol correct me if I am wrong but it seems like the magazine ask Zhenya if she likes Hanyu??? Lolol please Japanese native speaker answer this. :rofl2: She dodged though. The other stuff seems like old stuff where she said he is inspirational, the best etc etc. Roughly translated the first part of the interview (after that is more about herself.) Sputnic: How does Hanyu inspire you? Why do you want to skate with him? Zhenya: He inspires me as an athlete. Today many skaters see him as a role model. He is peerless as an athlete and no one would question that. Sputnic: On internet we can find many photos of you two together. Don’t you like him not only as an athlete but also as a young man? Zhenya: I don’t want to answer such question. I’ve made friends with many skaters from many countries in the first place. They are from the USA, Japan, China, Korea, France, Philippine… almost everywhere in the world. We all get along with each other really well. In competitions, we try to spend good time together because we don’t have much time to get together. Basically we talk in English. Sometimes we get together in someone’s room and have a chat or watch movies and videos. ETA: This site is more like a Japanese branch of this news site than a Japanese media. Med is multi-talented. She's dodging that question like Neo. Might as well give us a "I can neither confirm nor deny" :rofl2:
  8. Also, what do you guys thing Japan's chances are to compete in the team event. I know they have to qualify later in the year at some event, but can their pairs team even do that?
  9. Maybe Yuzu will appear as Tuxedo Mask :rofl2: I have to go back to respond to some quotes (sorry, crap at work and it's finals time so it's insane right now). But yeah, there is already multiple fanart of him as tuxedo mask. Don't put it past anyone, lol.
  10. Thanks, unicorn! Congrats! Fingers crossed for your friend! I'm sorry. I hope you have better luck in September!
  11. Thanks everyone!!! And that's great about FaOI! :goe: OMG YES!! Will you have a banner? I forget if those are even allowed, but hopefully :pbow:   If they allow banners we're going to have banners. My bff coming with us is an artist so she'll think up something really cool. She doesn't know a lot about skating but she likes Yuzu. And we'll have Pooh ears in tow. I'll probably get shirts made too. Wooo congrats!! I'd love to go myself but I don't think I'd survive actually being there lmao :sadPooh: I survived worlds somehow. I can't say how, but I did. There was a fair bit of alcohol, a lot of praying to skate gods, and a lot of cuddling Pooh every night. And boy did he make it worth it (after the SP heart attack) :yay: . I'm going to try to go into it this time just taking in the atmosphere and at least being grateful that he has one already. Of course I want him to win again, but no matter what he's an olympic champ forever :s_yes :s_yes .
  12. Apparently he's also the TS at our FS club here in NY  What does TS mean? As for the clip with Adam....
  13. My friend in Korea came through with the PyeongChang lottery! We'll be in Level A for Team SP and LP AND Men's Singles SP and LP!!
  14. The original quad king! To think, he was doing 3 quads in a program back in 2002 and that was considered bonkers. Heck, Yuzu's world record skate was 3 quads. Of course Yuzu excels in other areas as well which helped a lot.
  15. The Gracie video actually looks worse off than the last one I saw about a month ago, so I can't say the trajectory is a good one.
  16. Ugh, don't even get me started... and that because the TP decided to sleep during the US ladies programs, because the carrots missing for these alone would have dropped them majorly. Canada having more spots then Japan is also a shame, but they definitely deserve it with how awesome Kaet & Gabby were (and I like Alaine, but I'm not sure she deserves to go to Olys more than the Japanese ladies who won't make it) Ironically this incident is what opened JSP's eyes to Satoko's amazing consistence and reliability that they took for granted for years. She's another tough cookie I have deep respect for. It's not easy continuing to try your best when your efforts are not deservedly recognised *sigh* Agreed. I just hope she can maintain that consistency to make a case for herself next season. I do think Wakaba's WTT skate would have secured 3 spots if she did that at worlds though. Considering Marin's marketability, I could see her getting one of the slots over others if she is performing close enough to the rest.
  17. May I also add that I like that he arrived to an updated plaque with his latest conquest. What a nice welcome home visual. Fast growing hair can be super annoying with a short haircut. I used to have short hair and my hair doesn't grow slowly, so a month after a haircut I usually started to resemble a dishrag. ("some people" of course don't have that problem because they would look adorable even with a dishrag on their head. Not that I could think of any examples at the moment) I like when my hair is longer, but it takes so long to grow. I guess none of us are 100% satisfied all the time. :s_wink As for the second comment :rofl2: :rofl2: whoever could you mean? I thought I was the only one that had a twinge of satisfaction for that. For me it's the same time zone too. :s_yes
  18. But he just got a haircut! I wish the hair on my head grew as fast as his!! Glad he's home back though.
  19. I don't think her attempt in competition was fully rotated. I want to see what a landed one will get But yes, 4CC is not as high pressure, but she still managed to do better than the others who went onto worlds. So I really think it depends.
  20. I voted: Seimei PW - The blue is just wonderful and I got to see it at Madame Tussaude's where I noticed even more details (there's sparkly purple in-between the pleats) Etude - again, sucker for blue Phantom 2.0 H&L - besides the ruffle it's great and I'm a sucker for ombre
  21. I think Mirai attempted the 3A in a small competition recently. She fell on it though. But yes, it is do or die for Mirai when it comes to the 3A and securing a spot on the Oly team. She has nothing to lose.
  22. Sorry, but i don't see anything special on her :s_dunno Her skating never did anything for me either. And the loop is my favorite jump, which she didn't really do. And lacking one cost her a second OGM (along with some Russian homecooking, but if she was able to match Sot jump for jump they couldn't have denied her). But some people don't see what makes so Yuzu special either so it's just a matter of taste I suppose.
  23. I think it's 4Lz or bust. And then unicorn's point about Olympic generosity drives that home even more for me. They will be lenient, which will not be good for Yuzu's BV. But then I hear all these ZZZZ music choices and wonder if everyone will actually go all out. At the very least, he will have to go head to head with his major rivals for gold all season long. If he is finishing behind them because he lacks the BV he'll be getting those signals throughout the season and the realize what he needs to do. :hachimaki:
  24. Sasha Cohen absolute top. Likely wouldn't be here today if it weren't for her and Plushenko. Yuzu is officially my favorite skater over Sasha and it took 16 years to happen. No easy feat IMO, so good on him. But to this day I am nit picky about things because of her. "Oh, that spiral is perfectly straight but I don't like the hip alignment; looks hydranty." "Oh while her back is parallel to the ice in that layback, I really wish she lifted the free leg to also be parallel to the ice." "Oh I wish they had more toe point...and I wish they had toe point in their jumps too." "I wish she would be a split jump in her footwork..." She has made me nearly impossible to please on the ladies end. :rofl2: Distant seconds but I still like them, in no particular order Shizuka Arakawa - wonderful ina bauer and good skating skills; If Sasha couldn't win gold she was my second choice. And she has done more with it for the sport. Yulia Lipnitskaya - She's like a Sasha 2.0 with less polish. I hope she becomes a pro skater and develops that. Satoko Miyahara - all the polish in the world, but I'd like better jumps from her Mao Asada - Mao chan. That is all. Carolina Kostner - skating skill to die for even still. Love her. Those I like with potential to like even more: Karen Chen - so hot and cold but when she wants to be good, she's great. Mirai Nagasu - part of me is probably still invested in that 2010 Mirai that almost medalled at the olympics, but I do hope she can skate how she wants to skate in this olympic season. Mai Mihara - so smooth on the ice. I couldn't take my eyes off her in practice at worlds. Looking forward to her development and better packing next season. Marin Honda - so many great qualities and she isn't even out of juniors yet. I'm confident more greatness is to come. i'm pretty sure I have a "type" when it comes to these things, but I decidedly don't care about that bias. I like pretty skating, so sue me.
  25. I'm a little disappointed he is doing Turnadot again so I am less excited about that, but I do look forward to his short.
