  1. Who started the 4A talk anyway? I never even considered such a thing and suddenly it's everywhere.
  2. Any other skater would have a lot of work to do to convince me they'd land a 4A before Yuzu. There isn't some mythical unknown junior with a strong 3A, is there? I don't know of any.
  3. Everyone got so greedy. Godlike Yuzu is too addicting.
  4. I agree. It's a false narrative. And that's why this win was so crucial, to fight back. Another little thing to diminish him is to say it's only the Japanese fans cheering him. Of course they are amazing. But if the truth came out that I, an American, am cheering harder for him than for my own country's skaters, it wouldn't fit the storyline they want to present. Great skating is great skating. Who cares what country you're from?
  5. Same Yuzu same. I can't listen to the same cut of RJ 1 without seeing his choreo in my head I can't listen to any cut of it without seeing him. I don't think it favors anyone else to use it, but its popularity shows his influence.
  6. It's almost like the blue one was inspired by her dress. But I too prefer his original.
  7. I'll go further and sacrifice Worlds golds for it. Olympics is everything to the general public. But hopefully no sacrifice is needed! “Efforts will lie, but will never be in vain.”
  8. That's why I have to disagree with our fellow fans who want Yuzu in sparkly all-black this year. Anyone can do that; we rely on him for color.

  10. There's fun pictures of him with all the American ice dancers. I have no idea what's going on here, but I love these pics with Maia Shibutani:
  11. Brian always says we should have patience for the making of a champion. The tortoise and the hare... tbh I'm looking forwards to Deniss and Jun's careers more than some who are ahead of them now.
  12. Seems to be a minority opinion, but I prefer Chopin2 to Chopin1. Gold accents feel lucky to me.
  13. I'm glad Silenifide is marrying the pink bow of happiness, because someone needs to!
  14. I know people are very attached to Gracie, but I wish everyone could let go of their hopes enough to make it okay for her to quit if she needs to. Because it seems to me like she needs to. It's too bad it's the Olympic year, because otherwise she could take a year off and then reevaluate. But as it is, there's huge pressure for her to compete no matter what.
  15. Much like Yuzu, she deserves respect for trying to meet her own standards. A brave woman with integrity.
  16. I agree, the 3A is the best weapon against Eteri's girls. Their 2As are not good, so they won't be learning it.
  17. I will marry the flowing sleeves of his Hana ni Nare costume. And if I can commit bigamy, I will also marry the perfect jump videos he has saved on his tablet.
  18. True, the coaches shoulder some responsibility. Looking at Mao and Kanako who were such strong natural jumpers I think about what might have been Yes! I think of that often
  19. I do blame some of the coaches a little. Shoma is talented, but he wasn't taught properly, and now it will be a struggle for him to correct his technique. It's so much harder if you don't do it right the first time. Ignoring prerotation for the moment, who has corrected their takeoff edges? Yuzu and Joanie Rochette are the only ones I can think of. Let me know if there are more.
  20. They ignore it, but they could drop the sword any day. How is that not like what happened to Kanako and others? An uncertain way of life. The sun won't shine forever.
  21. The problem is people with long arms have to bend more at the elbows, and that looks awkward. Or they learned it with that awkward technique. Boitano and Rippon didn't originate something ugly.
