  1. Thanks, Yuzu, for giving me so many opportunities to use my arssenal of NOPE gifs
  2. I've been thinking about this, too. I just went through all the jumps in my head trying to estimate physics to see which one would make more sense to drop, really Conclusion: he knows his jumps, his condition and what strains the most. He'll choose wisely hopefully. I'm trusting him when he says he's learned from the past
  3. You're exerting considerable effort all through the leg to push up from the toe-pick, so my guess would be it does have an effect. In what grade I can't say, because medicine is not my division As to the cause, we can't know. Everything from a fall to the normal wear and tear of landing all the jumps could be suspect *shrugs*
  4. Yuzu: *is a bit injured* Brian: hey, maybe you should take it easy, water-down things a bit Yuzu: Okay. I change 4T combo for 3A combo Brian: Yuzu: I also change 4S for 4Lz Brian: Pooh: Yuzu: Everyone's hair: ABANDON SHIP (Compromise is needed, I guess XD)
  5. Love how we have to make distinctions between an average watered-down program and a Yuzuru watered-down program. Those are not the same, no
  6. lol, bye (but then again, that would mean picking with the problem knee and isn't that counter-productive?)
  7. *sneaks off from class* I see it's been a productive night/morning in the Planet. I'll be really quick: - Medals: I'm just meh, right now. They're not ugly, but they don't look very special either (Sochi really went all out, there). So yeah, just meh for now still, it's the meaning that counts. Go get that gold, Yuzu! - Knee developments: not too worried because, as @Yatagarasu's said, Yuzuru wouldn't be at ACI if it was serious. No point risking further injury at a B competition with the Olympics on the horizon. On the contrary, I'm glad to see him and Brian working together to take a step back instead of pushing just for the sake of it. Whatever he ends up showing these days on the ice, I trust them to do what's best for him right now and in the work they've been putting all along: injury or not, that doesn't disappear. Yuzuru will be alright *runs back to class*
  8. ...I almost spit tea out of my nose. My gawd, the image is so clear, I can even hear it in his voice
  9. Thank you, fellow satellites, for reminding that I need to rewatch Death Note and forget all about Netflix's remake The DRAMAH in Japanese TV doesn't even bother me anymore. Between them and our own sports news (football reports, especially, are half-circus, half-fanfiction) I've become desensitized
  10. That should go on any monument they'd build for him. It encapsulates Yuzu so perfectly in so few words
  11. Agreed. We'll see how 5 goes for Yuzuru, but already we're talking about an outlier: Yuzuru is not representative of the average top skater, which is why he might actually pull it off. 4 seems doable for the right skater, but not for everyone either. The moment we start talking about 6-7, skating ability is no longer the limit, but stamina. We all know that to have enough energy to even attempt these monster layouts everything else is going to suffer, if not disappear altogether. That's just human limitations at work.
  12. Agree about Boyang. He seems to me the more level-headed and far-sighted of the youngsters right now re: pacing themselves, and I believe he's playing the long game. His tech is very good already, and if he keeps taking the time to work on his skills and all around performance, he's due to be a strong gold contender in the following seasons. Of course, since his PCS are still kept much lower than the others because reasons (Shoma does deserve higher, but is there really that much of a difference vs Nathan? lol) he actually has the incentive to work on those. Funny how that works And about Shoma going for 6 quads, yeah, his everything else is going to suffer too if he ends up going that route, definitely. Considering that his Turandot especially still needs quite a lot of work there per what we saw at Lombardia... not good news. But then again, per Lombardia as well, they're already giving him very high PCS for an emptier performance, so. I'll very happily eat my hat if Nathan or Shoma manage to pull a nice, complete program with that kind of tech content, but I doubt it :___D
  13. This I will never understand, just like when people can only throw shit on other skaters to elevate their own favourite. Critique is different from bashing; praising one doesn't mean you're devaluing another. And as @Xen said, you can like a skater without being blind to their flaws I would say this is recommended, lol It's called maturity and chill. We all should remember to use them Thing is, while we're all obviously here because we have a soft spot or a whole soft everything for Yuzuru, many of us follow other skaters too and/or the sport in general, so I believe people are capable of being at least respectful to other athletes, if not outright supportive. After all, PH was born precisely out of need for a place where all The Crazy FanyusTM could do their thing without being judged or looked down upon, so we all know how it feels and don't want to reproduce that ourselves. But yes, it's nice to see how this little corner of the internet has been growing so far. Let's keep things fresh and survive enjoy the new season!
  14. If music choices is all it takes, then we can all go rent some skates, waddle our way through a varied playlist, and TA-DA! Bunch of allround skaters coming right up to a rink near you Now seriously: I get why they're praising Nathan to the heavens propaganda machine revving up for Olys, ejem and I give him his choices stand out in a sea of recycled and warhorse programs. I even like the music and think they both have a bigger potential than last season's, but rough as they are it's only downhill from here in terms of transitions and quality of performing. We're talking about a 6-7 quad FP, there's no way of delivering that without taking almost everything else out, so... there goes his broadening artistic expression
  15. All this talk of baking is making me so hungry... On the haters debate, I always try to make a distinction between "fans of other skaters" and "haters": the first will have facts to support their opinions and can hold a conversation just fine; the second will rely on character bashing and I will just exclude myself from their narrative because I have no time for bullshit It does get frustrating because you see their ~arguments~ falling apart at the seams and want to beat them back with logic and numbers, but it never works. You always end up angrier than you were at the start, and then they point fingers like "see? CRAZY FANYUS". It's not worth it. (Which is why I am one of the "only post at PH" people. I lurked on GS for a long time, but never became active because I didn't like the atmosphere)
  16. Nice to see new faces around here, welcome everyone! I've gotten to the point where I'll just be minding my own bussiness, going through life as you do, and then will be hit by the sudden though of ACI (and all it entails) happening next week and...
  17. So, housewife Yuzuru: nice in theory, probable fire hazard in reality
  18. No point in risking any kind of injury to the man himself and having the hordes of Evil Fanyus descend upon you, after all. Smart sponsors.
  19. That's basically what I've been trying and failing, apparently XD to say for days, but with actual numbers to show how it could work. So yep, I agree FIFA, my other friendly neighbourhood governing body of doom. It's not the first time I see this comparison and it's very accurate ¬¬
  20. Thse kind of CMs always seem kinda forced to me, so you're not alone. He's still cute, though, and kudos to him for trying
  21. Medvedeva tacks another 3-3-3 at the end of her FP and tanos everything. Because why the hell not
  22. Trollzuru Hanyu, first of his name, conqueror of axels, recycler of programs, lord of the hydroblade, breaker of records, king of the traveling ninjas and protector of the Poohs
  23. I think we're coming at the same thing from different angles and talking ourselves in circles Ideally, with minimal politiks and true separation from TES, a higher PCS ceiling would allow a bigger reward to the more artistically-inclined so it helps compensate for the lack of tech in otherwise good quality skaters. Realistically, of course it could be manipulated as you say and not work as intended. Again, as with the current CoP the fault is with the people applying it, not the system; there's no system that allows for total objectivity while still keeping the "artistic" component of FS ...I don't even know where they're going with this. Seems so unnecesarily complicated XD
