  1. Is is bad that I kinda don't want Aymoz there just because I want the YouTube stream to stay up so I can watch it when I get back from Italy...
  2. Rizzo should qualify for the final now unless he completely flops. Aliev has a decent chance IMO. Keegan has an outside chance if he can win CoC and no one else steps up. If Jason can get one of his quads working for NHK he could also be in with a shout, possibly even if he doesn't but it would be a longer shot. Aymoz as well. Then there's always Voronov ready to pop up and surprise everyone. Or someone like Keiji, Nam or Ignatov could pull off some unexpected results.
  3. Vincent Zhou has withdrawn from both his GP events. http://www.isuresults.com/events/cat03109465.htm
  4. NBC Gold is offering a free trial for Skate America this weekend for some countries - https://www.nbcsports.com/gold/int. You have to give them payment details when you register, but you can go straight into your account and tell it not to renew.
  5. We're in Europe. We may leave the EU but we'll still be geographically and politically Europe, nothing can change that short of some sort of catastrophic disaster.
  6. From the discussions I've seen people aren't sure about whether Worlds falls into the CTV/TSN deal or not? But I did forget about Worlds, I can't be dealing with thinking about 2020 already... Honestly, as pleased as I am that we've finally got an answer and will be able to watch events there are still some questions about it for me. Some are the obvious ones like, will there be commentary? What about archiving? Will the videos still be uploaded to Eurovision Sports or will it just be YouTube? How are they going to deal with the copyright claims?* (* I assume the same as the JGP tbh, which means the men's SP for at least IdF and NHK and probably Europeans and Worlds is doomed from an archiving perspective) There's also the side of things that we probably won't get answers to - was this always planned? It seems like they were negotiating with broadcasters up until fairly recently so is this a panic response to deals falling through? How is this going to impact future attempts to monetise the streams? I can't imagine they're going to get much revenue from this* and after having a free stream I imagine there'd be an outcry at moving to a paid service unless the paid service offers a much better experience. (* does the ISU actually care about monetising the broadcast, or have they already been paid from the Infront Media deal and now it's Infront's problem?)
  7. As we've got two recycled programs already I'd really like something new... Unless it's Masquerade, but I don't think it will be.
  8. Possibly not Canada completely - CBC aren't showing FS this year so only Skate Canada (of the international ISU events) has TV coverage. So Canada might be able to see everything else on YouTube. The original announcement about Infront Media excluded Canada, China, Japan, Korea and USA, and they've done the deal for the Nordic countries so, with the exception of Canada, I expect they'll all be blocked.
  9. Japan was the first alternate for pairs and got the sport when North Korea missed the entry deadline. For the team event the country must have individual qualifiers in at least three of the disciplines. If they don't have a qualified individual entry in the fourth discipline then they can bring someone extra, but they can only compete in the team event.
  10. It's Wikipedia page views, the data is only available from July 2015 so the person who did it excluded any skater who retired before then. Someone else looked it up and Yuna was at 2,826,016. Original post on Reddit Retired Skaters post on Reddit
  11. Yup, 2010/2011 was his first senior season.
  12. Will they stay at home for ACI? I think if I were Brian I'd want them all in the official hotel together and using the official transportation.
  13. Ok, I know everyone keeps talking about quints, but at the moment they are worth 0 points. Best case is it gets called as a quad and you probably get a +REP so it's just not worth it. The time to start talking about adding them to programs is when the ISU actually gives them a value. And if Yuzu can get just one more quad (or get back the lutz) then they're pretty much even on number of quads too (Yes, Nathan has technically landed one more in competition but we haven't seen the loop from him in ages.) (ETA: Normally I'm a huge pessimist so I don't know where all this optimism is coming from, but I'm just gonna roll with it for now...)
  14. Yup, I've been fiddling around with Nathan's short (https://skatingscores.com/bv/ if anyone else wants to play) and I think the only thing he can really do is bring back the 4Lz+3T as his combo and do the 4F as his solo jump - if he does that and keeps the combo in the second half he can get a whole 1.7 points extra BV and I can't see that he can do anything more. (assuming that he's never going to try a +3Lo on the grounds that a) they're very rare in mens and b) he has a history of hip problems). Yuzu on the other hand could get an extra 1.8 points 'just' by changing the 4S to a 4Lz.
  15. Honestly I think the only way Nathan can get a big BV boost next year is if he can do 5 quads in the FS - and Yuzu (and Brian et al) must be aware of that too and wondering if he can. Anything else Nathan does to his tech is going to be fiddling around for 1 or 2 extra points here and there (which can add up obviously); and (though we don't know if it's true or mind games) Raf has said that he thinks it will be difficult to introduce anything new whilst Nathan is away at Yale. Yuzu has much bigger potential gains - so if he can make some of them and skate clean I think he has a good chance of coming out on top.
  16. Swimming has on multiple occasions. Most recently in Rio there were two Gold medals in the Women's 100m free (Manuel (USA) and Oleksiak (Can). Also in Rio there were three silver medalists in the Mens 100m fly. Of course there's no real way to tie break races like there is with figure skating.
  17. How about 3E (Everyone Except Europe)?
  18. Maybe I'm being very dumb - but aren't the live Toyama broadcast and the Kobe broadcast going to be on at the same time?
  19. Ah, I'd assumed he'd just have to miss classes and those dates would minimise the missed days and give him time to catch up afterwards. Missing exams is obviously better to avoid if possible.
  20. I'm basing this purely off the published 2019-2020 Yale academic calendar (https://yalecollege.yale.edu/academics/academic-calendars/2019-2020-academic-calendar) rather than any actual knowledge, but I would have thought that if he had a completely free choice Nathan would probably want SkAM (October recess) and NHK (November recess/Thanksgiving). Given that the JSF will want Yuzu or Shoma at NHK, I'm guessing they'll go for Yuzu to block Nathan so they don't have to put Shoma up against Nathan (it seems likely that he'll have to do at least one GP against him, but they can at least make sure it's only one, and not at home). Other than that I have no clue!
