  1. @kaeryth @sallycinnamon @Katt @LadyLou I fear that my wording was unfortunate. Gomenasai Of course, I agree with all of you. Yuzu's Ina Bauer is a tribute to Shizuka in the first place and if I remember correctly, the Hydroblading is inspired by Shae-Lynne... and Yuzu has been very flexible since... forever? He has done the layback Biellmann spin in his novice days already. Split jumps and multiple difficult spirals, too (Y-spiral, Biellmann-spiral, ...). That's nothing new. What I wanted to say is: It must have been quite a while ago that Yuzu did Y-spirals and split jumps in front of cameras. I can't remember the last footage tbh. Does anyone know, when he did the last recorded Y-spiral before 2018? EDIT: @LadyLou Right, there was a split jump in Hana ni Nare I can totally picture Yuzu and Jason joking around in practice, who is more flexible or can keep this and that position longer. And it's not unlikely that Yuzu thought: Hey, why not bringing these moves back?! I didn't want to say that Jason inspired Yuzu to do Ina and Hydroblading in specific (of course not). You might be right and it has absolutely 0 to do with Jason, but I think that in his presence at TCC flexibility is a bit more in focus again. I mean: Jason does spirals and split jumps in nearly every program (they're his signature moves after all). And Yuzu is that type of skater who watches other great skaters carefully and adapts their skills in his own unique style. You're probably right and I overestimated Jason's role and influence. You cannot expect big things after one year, aye? It just makes me very happy that my two favorite skaters practice together. Sure, Yuzu doesn't "need" to be remembered what a total package is, it's his career goal either way. But I still think it's important and good to have other skaters around you with similar values and attitude towards skating. PS: Heaven forbid that I see Jason as a "replacement" for Javi No one can replace Javi. Not as a skater, not as a character and especially not the journey and strong bond with Yuzu. Period.
  2. When Jason's coaching change was announced last year, I got super excited, thinking of how much Yuzu had learned and adapted from Javi in 6 1/2 years. So I followed the process of Yuzu's and Jason's mutual influence very carefully during the last season. Retrospectively I would say that Jason as a training mate is pretty much the best that could happen to Yuzu after Javi's retirement. In an era, where programs are constructed with tech-focus and max-output, it's good to have someone beside you, who reminds you every day how important, satisfying and beautiful a total package is.
  3. I think, Yuzu really wants to take care of our cardiovascular systems from now on, so he tries to dose the biggest shockers and serve them plate by plate. He's some hell of a butler, indeed.
  4. Kolyada's SP choice is Wind of Change from the Scorpions. And. I. Love. It. The Chaplin FS makes me still sceptical, though. Javi has raised the bar really high and Keegan did a decent version, too...
  5. Not to mention the number of back-counter 3A's and Yuzu-like costumes I think Yuzu wanted to do that twizzle+3A+twizzle this season, because the back-counter has become too mainstream Same with the hydroblading. It's not enough to simply hydro in FS and EX anymore. To stand out, you have to do it in the SP, too! Aaaand in your EX it has to last longer than 10 seconds, be 0.005mm close to the ice and you have to kiss it. Because standards.
  6. The thing is: At Worlds Yuzu's popped 4S didn't really get -5 GOE. In fact: It didn't get any GOE at all The scoresheet looked like this: 2S* BV: 0.00 GOE: - - - - - - - - - total: 0.00 *invalid Element If that pop had happened in the freeskate, I think it would've looked like this (more or less): So yeah, in the free a pop into a double gets a bit more than 1 point. In the short 0. Not that it really matters... The damage is done with the pop either way. #Sidenote: a 2S with -5 GOE would receive 0.65 points. To the judging system in general: in my opinion the corpus is fine, but the details like bullets, PCS guidelines or error features for calls are too vague, unbalanced or non-existing in the handbook. They leave too much room for inappropriate scoring: EDIT: forget about the entire post. I just realized that we have updates in the judging system for the next season. And I'm still like... wait, WHAT?! It's disgusting, really.
  7. Oh my! So many Yuzus in your room... That would be impossible for me to handle. I have one Yuzu picture on my wall. ONE. It's not even a photo, just a drawing, and even that is really spooky, because: On the other hand it's very motivating to see his smile above my desk, when I have to work or recover from a tough day That mass of messages and kreative contributions must be a dream to read! If this great project cannot fuel Yuzu's power and motivation for the next season, I don't know what else could
  8. Maybe there are rehearsals on the day(s) before and we get some InstaStories on thursday already...? Okay, our InstaQueen Aljona won't be there, but maybe TwitterEmpress TukLiza can feed our fan hearts this time...? @olympicchannel: This is your ultimate chance to skyrocket your klicks and retweets. Conquer the FaOI backstage area.
  9. Okay, the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 is in full spate and I just realized how much Eurovision is hiding in Yuzu's skating career Team Origin 2008: Evgeni Plushenko and Edvin Marton won the event together with Dima Bilan for Russia. It's been Russia's only Eurovision title so far. Team Notte Stellata 2015: Il Volo competed for Italy with the song 'Grande Amore' and finished in a strong third place. It's been Italy's best placement in the last 8 years.
  10. I'm glad that I'm not the only person with images in my head like this one (maybe little different costumes) Let's be honest everyone: a Yuzu-Habi-sbs skating program is looooong overdue. Period. That's what I meant when I said: For me the G.O.A.T. of a sport is not only defined by his athletic prowess and competitive results. It's his footprint in history and influence of the future that makes an athlete extra special. When you can amaze and inspire people outside of your own sport, you've reached the next level of greatness. Yuzu did.
  11. Wow, it's so strange to see Yuzu with different hair colors. To be honest, I like him most exactly as he is with his deep black hair and I hope he will keep it ... okay, two years ago I committed a crime and experimented a bit with Photoshop as well... [*gomen* ]
  12. These are the moments, where I'm really happy to be a random Twitter user only. I don't know any anti-accounts in specific and I guess that's a good thing. Would only cause unnecessary cardiovascular problems.
  13. I know, I shouldn't be bothered by such comments anymore, but... https://mobile.twitter.com/boyangfan1/status/1127432331730403330
  14. Nathan? With mushroom hair? And nearly 1m jump height? I obviously missed something in this off-season.
  15. Mirrored Malaguena would be really cool. I'm sure after so many run-throughs at TCC Yuzu knows the choreo by heart
  16. Now this is really great news! Seems like his rehab is going well enough to do shows, aye? I just realized that 'Flamenco on Ice' and FaoI are both scheduled for 05/31-06/02 in Sendai. This can only mean that Floi will be part of Faoi, aye? Otherwise Javi has to clone himself or sth. [Maybe Yuzu waited so long with the announcement, because he had to learn a proper Flamenco first...]
  17. From me a big THANK YOU as well!! It's a fantastic tribute and inspiring interview!! Very very well done Now this is really interesting, because my first impression of Yuzu's skating was: "Oh! He is not a ballet dancer!" For me ballet is probably the most demanding and precise dance with a rehearsed sequence of steps following very strict rules in movement and especially in posture. [Please punch me, if my image of ballet is distorted.] I think that Yuzu's skating is inspired by western styles (ballet included), but he always leaves some space to improvise, break with the standards and do moves or postures that are non-western at all. He skates the way it feels and looks best for him, it's a bit like a mood (especially his stroking in practice). So yes, it is very natural and authentic. I think I would call it a Yuzu-specific freestyle with perfect body control. (I'm open for opposition ) It's so sad actually that Yuzu has to be defended at all. Open your eyes, open the rulebook, cancel your bias and there should be no need for additional defense. You can like his style or not, but from a technical and (evaluable) artistic point of view Yuzuru Hanyu doesn't leave much room for criticism. Latest complaints like "lacks passion", "doesn't point with his toe pick into direction X" or "looks down all the time" pretty much confirm this. If you run out of reasonable arguments, you switch to... well.
  18. I had the very urgent need to edit a quick collection of Yuzu's sit spins. Because quality.
  19. Yuzu's off-season schedule of public appearances
  20. There you go. One internet-free weekend and bamm. New Yuzu pic pops up #Murphy'sLaw It's great to see him again, especially the happy smile! I think I've never seen his hair being this full, voluminous and shiny? Looks really nice! However, I wonder, if he can skate with that deep curtain fringe on the ice? It would annoy the hell out of me, if I had to brush the hair out of my face after every single crossover.
  21. Thank you very much Yes, I wanted to use the Mission Impossible Theme for two reasons: 1. Yuzu skated to MI2 as a junior and the remake version at CiONTU last year had a huge impact on me. It was one of my favorite performances of the flashback marathon. 2. Most of his recoveries and spontaneous layout changes can indeed be labeled as impossible missions. Well, impossible for everyone except Yuzuru Hanyu In general I stick to the following criteria for my music choices:
  22. A career documentary movie would be amazing for sure. (I wouldn't be surprised, if NHK or someone else prepared it already...) And yes, it might crash my editor
  23. Thank you very much! Yes, I wanted to pay tribute to Yuzu's programs equally. Of course I have my personal favorites, but every program has something special that makes it worth to remember. I think the only (competitive) senior programs that did not appear in the first two videos were Otonal, Zigeunerweisen and Notre Dame the Paris. (hope they don't feel discriminated...) I plan to edit 1-2 videos per season. For me it makes sense to start with clips where I have the raw material and a rough storyboard already. The career flashback might need a split in two halfs. Yuzu's career is veeery action packed already (and there seems a lot more to come ). On the other hand the impact of so many titles, records, firsts and other achievements in a single clip would be amazing, too. What would you say?
