  1. Crazy swan encore at WTT 2017 is still my absolute favorite. Absolute ultimate all-time favorite. Full stop. I really hope that Yuzu skates to LGC at the award show in Montreal so that we can freak out live and ISU has to delete the video of this clownery show due to copyright issues with the Prince music. That would be so delicate.
  2. As much as I like Ballade No. 1, I really hope for a program that we haven't seen that often yet. Yuzu skated Chopin for three seasons plus FaOI 2017 plus CWW. Other programs deserve some screentime, too. Yuzu has countless other masterpieces in his collection that can't wait to be remastered.
  3. Yes, I want to see crazy Yuzu on the ice again. In my opinion it's the best choreo ever and the program definitely deserves a revival. It just can't be put on file yet. PS: I'm really curious, if Yuzu still fits into the "purple pants of sin"...
  4. It's here. But the joke is: it's posted by a Zagitova fan account lmao
  5. These kind of polls really make me wonder, if figure skating is the only Olympic sport on our planet. But then I found one brave user who picked Lionel Messi
  6. Aye, so I opened a new poll for Yuzu's EX at 4CC in February
  7. @Pika Sorry, I totally missed to start a poll for GPF and JNats, so here we go Overview of Yuzu's EX choices this season so far: SC 2019 (Canada): Parisienne Walkways 2.0 NHK 2019 (Japan): Haru Yo Koi GPF 2019 (Italy): Notte Stellata JNats 2019 (Japan): Seimei 2.0 4CC 2020 (South Korea): ? My personal guess:
  8. Since 2017 I've saved all comments from family, friends and collegues in my personal "first-reaction-to-Yuzu's-skating"-logbook. Statistically Notte Stellata in PyeongChang received the best response by a mile. Even people, who claimed that they hate figure skating with all their heart, couldn't hide their goosebumps Barcelona Seimei is in second place followed by SC Origin. Reactions were very positive overall. However, the excitement was not as huge as with Notte. The entire rest got mixed reactions. Especially H&L seemed to be underwhelming for whatever reason. Only exception: my mom loves it with all her heart and tears up everytime we rewatch it together. H&L in Helsinki is her favorite Yuzu-performance until today.
  9. If I remember correctly, Nathan hasn't done major technical upgrades since the 17/18 season except the 4T+1Eu+3F combo (pls correct me, if I'm wrong). His key is stabilizing what he already can do. Yuzu on the other hand gave birth to 4T+3A, 4T+1Eu+3F, a five-quad-freeskate with 4Lo AND 4Lz and now baby 4A is on the way, too. It takes a lot of time to raise and discipline so many new children. You cannot expect clean performances at first attempt. That would be really spooky. However, I do believe that Yuzu can master this difficult situation and I'm sure, his best performance is yet to come. Yuzu is Yuzu. He's the strongest, when people write him off.
  10. For me Yuzu strikes out for his ethereal skating, inspirational character, strong fighting spirit and the countless magic moments that he created. For me as a fan it's the most exciting experience to follow the journey of an athlete with all ups and downs and developments. It's sad, if a skater retires after two or three seasons already. It's over, before you even have the chance to join the fandom really. I can't warm to skaters either, who skate clean all the time. The excitement is totally killed from the beginning. It's like watching a reliable machine in loop - impressive, but that's it. With Yuzu it's more like opening a grab bag. You never know, what's in it. It's full of surprises, shockers and miracles and that makes him so exciting to watch (sometimes a bit stressful as well ). However, when everything works out, it's the greatest emotional fireworks that I've ever experienced. I guess, I'm not the only one with this feeling, aye?
  11. Why am I crying?! Seriously. Today was the heaviest emotional roller coaster of the entire season for me and this is... quite something. I definitely need these two weeks break now. Folks, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy new year! It was my first year here on the Planet and it was a wonderful year with you all. Thank you so much! Please, have a good rest, put all negativity aside and recap all the nice moments with Yuzu this year. Think of all the curses that he defeated, all the new jumps that he conquered, the wonderful old and new programs and magic moments and of course: Two healthy ankles!! They are in one piece and functioning and not injured, right? RIGHT?
  12. View numbers only go up, if you watch the clip on different devices.
  13. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was not only the most cited author in the history of German literature and the creator of "Faust". He was also a scientist, who wrote a publication about the "Theory of colours". While Isaac Newton was more focused on the optical spectrum of colours, Goethe analyzed colours from an artist's point of view on nature and human's perception of colours. I think that's the reason, why Goethe's name was chosen for that magazine.
  14. Yes, the comment section played the key role in this. Without the comments most people wouldn't have paid any attention to those two seconds in the clip. They wouldn't know until today who Yuzuru Hanyu is and where exactly you could find him in the clip. The sheer mass of comments with admiration, happy memories and impressive facts about Yuzu made all these people curious. However, without these two seconds there wouldn't be any comments and the whole thing wouldn't have got rolling in the first place. So Google's decision to include Yuzu with the caption: "super heroes that can fly" was spot on.
  15. I just scrolled a bit through the comment section of Yuzu's Torino FS video on YouTube. There are multiple new comments like: "Google Search brought me here. Wow, he is incredible!" "Who is here because of Google Search?" "This is the performance that has made me decide to be a fan." This is really amazing. These two little seconds in the Google Search clip brought probably more people to the sport than ISU's entire PR actions of the last decade together. Kudos, Google
  16. Yuzu practiced 4S+1Eu+3F at Skate Canada and I missed it?! Do we have footage?
  17. I bet my salary that Yuzu has read this paper already Biomechanics of the Axel Paulsen Figure Skating Jump by A. Mazurkiewicz et al., 13 Aug 2018 EDIT: Here's a very interesting result from this paper I'm curious, if Yuzu uses research results like this for his 4A practice? I'm pretty sure he does I scrolled a bit through the list of books and journals of our university library and there are soooo many papers specifically about figure skating. My search list with the key words "sport science figure skating" has 71928 entries! There are countless articles about measurement tools, biomechanics of different elements, nutrition and training methods and sooo many other interesting research topics. If I have the time, I really want to read some of them. They sound super interesting
  18. 30%!! That is A LOT!! Do you have a source? I'm really curious...
  19. @shanshani I don't know, if you know this study, but I found it in our University library and thought, it could be interesting for the camera project: Learning to Score Figure Skating Sport Videos (from 28th July 2018) by Chengming Xu et al. My academic English is really not the best, I only understand fragments of this paper, but it might be something for you
  20. Summary of this interview: Lady Lutzifer takes away the pressure from Yuzu's other quads. 4Lo's reaction: "Thank God, I'm no longer in the spotlight. It's so stressful to be no. 1 in the quad arsenal." 4S' reaction: "Oh yes, the music in the second half suits me much better. I'm so happy with my new home in the layout!" 3Lz' reaction: Wow! My big sister, quad Lutzifer, is so huuuge!! I want to fly that high, too!" 4T's reaction: "Our new nakama 4Lz gives us so much energy and confidence!" 3A's reaction: "That's all wonderful, but what about me?"
  21. Yuzu NEVER disappoints as the greatest meme king of all time Source: https://mobile.twitter.com/Wangxiaoya115/status/1203773001315078146
  22. Welcome to the Planet and thank you so much for sharing the lyrics! Whoever had the idea to put Yuzu into the video, it was a great idea and the caption fits perfectly. I don't know, if it's a coincidence, but I REALLY celebrate the fact that they picked Yuzu's triple Lutz. In an era where everything's about the quads and Axels and technical development, it's so iconic to choose a top quality triple Lutz. It finally gets the recognition and appreciation it deserves. You don't need quads to fly high. You can fly with triples, too, if you do them properly. So yeah, well done, Google.
  23. I just scrolled a bit through the comment section of the "Google Year in Search" video on YouTube. It's so nice to see people, who didn't know Yuzu before, watching his old performances and showing their excitement and appreciation. I wouldn't be surprised, if his fandom grew today once again. This is really great
  24. I can't listen to the never-ending complaints about the Pooh rain anymore. Seriously: If the ISU himself has no problem to make a gigantic ribbon rain in the EX gala, which is like a 100 times more dangerous for the skaters, they cannot say ANYTHING against the Pooh rain. Full stop.
  25. This is the biggest problem in figure skating at the moment. The judges are presented as impeccable experts who's decisions must not be questioned, no matter what. Any complaint about scoring is equal to 'whining', legit or not. Western countries always pride themselves of being democratic and open to people's opinions. However, figure skating judges are untouchable. Seriously, this is nothing but a dictatorship. ISU refuses to split the panel into expert groups, ISU refuses to develop and implement objective measurement tools, ISU ignores any kind of complaint about scores that violate their own rulebook. Instead they put judges, who were banned for biased scoring in the past, back into the panel. Excellent. In Tennis every player can challenge the referee's decision. Not only once but trice. Does that mean, the player is a whiny loser? No, it's just natural that errors happen in realtime judging. That doesn't undermine the referee's authority and reputation at all. On the other hand it puts a judge into very bad light, if he or she notoriously over- or underscores certain skaters in every single competition and the skater has no right to defend him- or herself.
