There has been a one week national period of mourning declared so no Tae birthday related content and all scheduled music and variety shows will not be happening. The Korea Herald says that k-pop stars have expressed condolences but I have seen only one. I'm sure that they, like everyone in the country, are still in shock.

My dad, who traveled a lot, said that they happen in threes. And that it's always safest in the back of the plane. Fingers crossed for me that I get n my flight from Seoul to SFO on Sunday. Not just Boeing - they wouldn't have made the engines. That will be Roll Royce or another company. Boeing does not manufactur their own engines.

It's hard to click the "heart" and like these posts. I did see video of the likely bird strike and one engine "puffing" but cannot imagine how that would have impacted the landing gear. And it only needed one engine to land. Something was up with the hydraulics- they have the black boxes but it takes weeks, minimum, to determine the cause (unless you have shrapnel holes in the fuselage because the Russians thought you were a drone and shot you out of the sky-). The mention of "bad weather" is ridiculous if you see the video. No landing gear and evidently no brakes, either. I don't understand why the pilots didn't try to turn it a little and go off the runway because they had to have seen that concrete barrier coming at them.

At least 149 dead in the plane crash. Unlikely that there are more than the two survivors already pulled from the tail (of 181 total on board.). Both crew - so would be the flight attendants who would have been sitting on their jumpseats at the very back of the plane, behind the lavatories at the emergency exits. It doesn't look like they opened the exits, but were pulled out by rescue workers. I had just booked my flight from Jeju to Seoul on Jeju Air. So awful.

I'm glad he took the time necessary to recover from whatever was impacting his health. Maybe depression, but a piece of me wonders if he, or any other idol, suffer from an eating disorder/ It would seem like something that could afflict people trying to stay rail thin. However, if that's what it's been, I would think they would eventually address that as a service to MOA. Jimin and Jungkook won some awards last night. I watched part of the red carpet live but left when it ended and didn't watch any of the actual ceremony, The wording of JK's award lead me to believe that it's sales that drive these particular awards. But who knows.

Cannot wait for part 2. I don't think Jin knew they were going to do a scary one, but Hobi is being such a good sport about it all, especially since he had been discharged the day before (and they shot that little dnace challenge the same day - same outfits.) Suns in western languages are FINALLY up on the last Live. This is just funny - https://www.instagram.com/reel/DD9tQfYTSie/?igsh=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA%3D%3D

I think that creating JinB was excruciating for Hobi. He lost weight, was isolated - so obsessive and such a perfectionist. Maybe he has reflected on that and recognizes that he did it and doesn't need to do all that again. He values the members and their contributions more than he had before he was in the military. Time of reflection. I somehow don't seem him doing a lot of American/British composers and English lyrics but maybe one - Merry Christmas - it's a lovely., non-windy, sunny day on Jeju.

This is Christmas Eve in Korea and it's exactly 14 years since Hobi arrived in Seoul and the dorm. Hobi and Jin grabbing each other's super valuable tree toppers is a reminder for us of how their lives have changed. All that hard work and deprivation (and too much chicken, Jin would say), squabbling over dumplings, sharing clothes and that pile of shoes at the entrance of their room to now, when baubles are worth 100s of thousands (and JK moving into his insane new home.) https://www.instagram.com/reel/DD7PbMqPB0A/?igsh=NjZiM2M3MzIxNA%3D%3D Also, Merry Christmas from me, who along with @amylance1215, will be the first among us to enter Christmas day.

The most encouraging and hopeful quote I've seen so far. OT7 will be back!

And I had FINALLY gotten my weekly (Sunday!) call from Chris and a drunk Lexie - at midnight their time - Facetime so I didn't get the notification which is just one more reason to not like her....I've read a lot of the twitter threads bit can hardly wait for the subs. I wonder what they could do as a sub-unit. Hobi did have JK on I Wonder fo his album. He maybe has some Jin as backup on his new album. This is nice - acknowledgment from Bing Crosby's family. I hope Tae gets to see these.
-
Whoa - guess I'll watch Yuzu today, too. And Peppa Pig is very popular with the 5 yr old set... Hoping Tae's voice gets a break - it's not like they don't have three other high octave vocalists. Hobi is definitely releasing and reminder: PDogg was in LA with him, so, at the very least, there was music produced. Just a cute reminder of how far Yoongi went to be a good member: https://www.threads.net/@yoongi.gummy.smile7/post/DD1RWXmTjh-?xmt=AQGzsI8EaYTu15YI1JPIhjBfLr7uFpCJ7Y1UlK10lv1miA

I can understand him promoting HumanMade stuff (other members of the group have, also) but see it more as a gesture than, say, a brand ambassador. Something's up, though, unless it was just shopping, which is possible and maybe not why he's in Japan. I also love that Jin (and Wendy) are described as having "insane ranges". Jin has range, though, it really is Tae who has the widest range, since his voice is low but he carries off the falsetto stuff so beautifully.

Someone tell JK. Some subs are up for his Live but not English or other "western" language.

Oh - I forgot - Bing Crosby's family posted this. So cool for Tae. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDzuYhKMujL/?igsh=eWR6NjNkb3N4cXZt

Haven't a clue how the winners are tabulated. Can we vote? And TXT - I will be back in Korea in March and although Sean's vacation starts the afternoon of the 7th, I'm sure I could arrive on Jeju the 8th if I could get a ticket for the 7th in Incheon. @Faithyu Do you want us to try to get tickets for one of the cities? Will there be intense competition anything like BTS? If more of us try, better chance? Of course, trying to resell tickets you don't need might not be easy. I don't know how that works in the EU. And Jin and figure skating collision - And

and pre-sale for MOA You know what makes me happiest about this is that it means they are okay and aren't going away permanently. I was concerned. They just needed a break. And Soobin must be better. And - uh, oh

Well, the other members get leave. Maybe he's the first to ask. I hope he spoke with Jin and Hobi and Yoongi. They could be reassuring (though I somehow doubt they'd have been up for the Live, except maybe Yoongi, but would he watch?) He's have to have seen Jin - they are so close and Jin knows how being away from ARMY and being isolated from what he loves can impact his mood....he'd be sensitive to that. I wish we knew some of those things -)I can see he's proud of his new house - maybe he'd have invited any member in Seoul to come by and see it.

I'd put money on him flying to LA-

So she in Korea missed this!!! I agree that the numbers must be accumulative. Yes, Europe would find it the perfect time. But it didn't start until there would have been plenty of Korean fans already in bed (maybe?). I am curious how it's okay for him to do a Live and actually appear. Why haven't we seen anyone else during active service? Not that he's a regular Live kind of guy, but Yoongi could calm ARMY concerned about his mental health with a five minute "hi there- I'm okay". I'll watch it later after I take the dog out and even better, go for a hike. The first actual sunny day since I got to Jeju a week ago- though still pretty windy. can't believe I missed it! That's what I get for being "do not disturb" after 10 pm.

i heart radio interview with Jin -

Good. It's actually surprising, in a good way, that male skaters are getting attention (for their skating).
-
Who even knew such an operation existed? Why would Jun leave competitive skating when it's just one more year before the Olympics? I can't imagine him abandoning competition before that.
-
Can't wait to see this one. I believe they shot this very soon after Hobi got out of the military based on his hair length. It's definitely before he went to LA. So Jin didn't kidnap him immediately upon discharge but pretty soon thereafter.

I wonder if igin will be available at other stores. And I think Jin's involvement in the creation and promotion of an alcoholic beverage should put the entire Yoongi incident in the way way past. I had thought that being charged (and voluntarily (?) admitting) with being drunk would put an end to any future Suchwita episodes but @rockstaryuzu pointed out that Yoongi could use it as a teaching moment. Alcohol is an integral part of Korean culture and Jin's new venture takes the "stain" of the Yoongi incident and kind of, in a way, sweeps that whole episode away. And I think that Jin is the exact right member to do this.
-
So Jimin qualifies as a soloist, but JK doesn't? Not even for Standing Next to You? (Not that I dislike Jimin setting records....I certainly watch him more than the other members - well, along with Hobi and RM. Oh, and Yoongi and Tae and Jin- but it's Jimin and Jin lately)
