Actually, I can totally see why Hobi said that. If you look carefully at the photos of him from immediately after discharge, you can see signs of sun damage on his skin. My guess is he got a bit too sunburned/tanned while enlisted. For an idol, that's a real problem

Not only did he put up $3.6 million worth of his own money, but for 7 months, he showed up on weekends to teach music to non-verbal autistic kids. It's possible he met the professor through his social services assignment but this project is something separate from his enlistment duties
