Check out this song by One OK Rock, and tell me if you can imagine Yuzu skating to it. I think it would suit Yuzu really well: https://youtu.be/eoQAnGx4Pss?si=wu2MjBWsn_6IeUbD

Here's hoping for online livestreams for overseas fans! Beyond Live has been pretty good so far. Otherwise I'll be signing up for a month of ForJoy TV again to get access to TV Asahi

ISU's approach seems to be to chase away the golden goose in of favor of a silver or bronze one. It's like they think they only have room for one goose at a time

Ugh... too much going on in my life for me to submit somethingbfor the birthday project this year... but I do wish Yuzu a wonderful 30th birthday!

It's so obvious that the ISU has a problem on their hands. I could see it when I went to Worlds in Montreal - the arena was at best, half full, and probably a third of the audience were friends and family and teammates of the skaters themselves. Very insular, honestly. I invited some friends of mine who live in Montreal to join me for a day of the competition. These are people who used to figure skate, so they have an interest. When they checked the one-day ticket price, they balked and wouldn't come. And they had none of the other expenses an Worlds attendee from out of town would have. They didn't recognize any of the skaters competing, so it was easy for them to convince themselves not to go ( to be fair, these are people who probably would have turned their noses up at seeing Yuzu, too - they were looking for big Canadian stars to watch. Sorry, but Elvis quit competing 30 years ago 😅) . However, they did get interested in watching the practice sessions at the Verdun rink, which were only $10 for the day. The other thing I noticed is that there's a LOT of grey-haired golf clappers in the remaining audience that still attend... people who seem to think watching figure skating is like going to the ballet, who get p*ssed off if they're forced to witness anything so unseemly as an excited fan cheering for a favorite skater. Those folks would be better off watching the event on TV, at home in their jammies, tucked up with a cup of cocoa on the couch. 😒 So the problem has a few components: 1. Without star power like Yuzu had, it's difficult to attract fans outside the regular circles of figure skating 2. The regular circles of figure skating are a reliable audience, but small and getting older 3. Ticket price is a barrier to casual fans/passersby who might otherwise check it out. 4. The way ISU behaved towards Yuzu with regard to scoring, after 2018, has had the effect of driving away a huge pool of potential future audience. From a marketing perspective, they should have bent over backwards to keep him competing as long as possible.

I thought so too. It was particularly noticeable on Moon. He wasn't singing the highest parts. He's clearly rebuilding his singing muscles gradually, and witnessing the process is making me super curious about the vocal coaches they work with. They obviously have some real experts guiding them in that regard. It would be easy to get impatient and give in to the temptation to force the high notes - but that'd ruin his voice for good.

I read an English translation of the lyrics and if he'd have said that the song was about Bangtan and their approach to their career so far, I totally would have believed him.

That's what Jin said during his special stage. He gave a PowerPoint presentation on how he came to write all the songs on the album and said that Another Level came about as a result of him imagining what it would be like to be the main character in a video game. Frankly, I think it's the most Yuzu thing Jin could have said New live clip:

Livestreaming info for Jin's HAPPY Special Stage. It's streamed on Weverse itself. Free. https://weverse.io/bts/notice/23291
-
It was free. I watched it at the ungodly hour of 5am this morning
-
Yes. It starts at 5pm Korean time, I think? And Another Level sounds completely different live!

today's watch room. I don't have the playlist set up yet https://w2g.tv/?r=vu593v76t44e4fcgln

Biggest 'scandal' a guy could have !

Because Weverse... the subs never show up on TXT videos for me.
-
I watched without subs... Can't wait til those upstarts get their comeuppance!
-
I haven't heard of this. What is it?

This is so cute: TXT visited the restaurant from the BTS trainee days. Turns out they went there a lot too. I guess the auntie who runs the place was kind of a den mother for all the early BigHit trainees. Check out how tall they all are vs the restaurant's low ceilings https://weverse.io/txt/media/4-185103838

Plot twist: my brother was texting me about this exact brand of watch not 12 hours before Hobi went live. My brother's got expensive taste... just doesn't have a the money to match. LoL
-
Hobi was live! I missed it because bloody Weverse again.
-
It has a kind of 'cats have nine lives' theme going on
-
I think they went too far down the overproduced synth pop road and need to get their edge back, musically. I quite liked Brought the Heat Back. Plus the video was fun. Sunghoon sporting a 'real men like cats' t-shirt cracked me up

Jin's referring to the fan sign event that Weverse just announced the raffle for - 50 ARMY will win the chance to ride the carousel at Lotte World with Jin... each person gets 1 rotation of the carousel around to chat to Jin while he signs their album. Sounds like a Run Jin episode, to be honest.
