  1. I agree. In all his interviews post-Oly, he sounded really excited to be getting on with the rest of life. However, it's one of those things I can't help but think right now.
  2. I have to say that now that this has happened, I wonder if Patrick will be tempted to try another season. These new rules would really favor him, I suspect. On the other hand, in his interviews after the Olympics, he definitely sounded DONE with competitive skating altogether.
  3. Feels like it's been much longer. Men's skating changed so much in the last 4 years.
  4. That's just crazy...how long has he been out, 7 or 8 years? This feels a little Torvil and Dean to me. maybe not the greatest idea.
  5. Something I want to point out: with the rules change, there's going to be a lot more pressure on skaters to skate clean rather than trying and failing on risky elements. Idk if people here can remember, but the last time there was a scoring system like that, skaters were very conservative in what they would try to jump and land. So I think we're going to see a) a different approach to the skating by everyone, and b ) skaters who rarely go clean struggling a lot. In my opinion, what this means is someone like Kolyada or Chen, who are sporadically brilliant but susceptible to nerves, is at a disadvantage, while a skater like ,say, Shoma, who is usually solid, could surge ahead. Yuzu will of course rise to the occasion as always.
  6. No Misha Ge to take the photo either, so will the Maiden feel the need to be that extra ?
  7. Finlandia is part of the Challenger series, isn't it? There should be some interesting skaters at it, so maybe you can just resell?
  8. Looks like I'm going to have a chance to see it live! (I sincerely hope he brings it to Laval...)
  9. Yikes. You'd think airports would be safe if only because of the security needed for flying. But you just never know.
  10. Well, all I have to say about Yuzu doing two European GPs is that I hope he gets judged fairly and honestly at them. And that I'm bummed he won't be at SC. (The reason I say this...I've read some things on the 'net about how there are European members of the ISU who still don't accept that an Asian is winning...so I worry.)
  11. New name for the Canadians: Nicholas Nadeau at Grenoble. I know nothing about him, but am pleased to see the Canadian men have some fresh blood coming on board.... Also, look at Grenoble: could be a big match-up between Boyang and Nathan.
  12. Yes, but that's a judging issue. On pure ability, Yuzu is clearly the better skater.
  13. Umm, I dunno. He's had some pretty spectacular fails. Of course, it's new rules, new format, so we'll see.
  14. Who's the other one? Kolyada? I feel like he has a long way to go to beat Yuzu even on a bad day...
  15. The women's field in Laval looks interesting. Also on the men's side...2 of Brian's proteges and Shoma..I guess I'll keep my tickets and not complain....:( lesson learned though: next year just GPF...
  16. I was thinking the opposite, that no one on that list is capable of giving Yuzu or Boyang a run for their money...
  17. So I get Shoma and Evgenia. Not bad, but should I plan a trip to Helsinki? Otherwise my only hope is AC, or GPF...
  18. Lord knows, he never got the time of day while P. Chan was competing.
  19. So far SC has only released the Canadian skater's assignments. No wonder they were trolling...
  20. Not that I object to having him back or anything, but something doesn't seem correct here.
  21. WTH is that 'Kevin Reynolds" at NHK? Dude announced his retirement this spring, yo.
  22. The idea that any Canadian sport federation has a gazillion dollars for something like that: They probably used other political pressures...
  23. I dunno. I tried counting the rotations and I'm not 100% sure I see 4.5...but he's spinning so fast I can't hit the pause button quickly enough to be 100% sure I got it all. I'd be shocked if he did 4A, honestly. He never struck me as that great of a jumper but he's clearly been working hard...
