  1. His hands looked very fit in that video with the wooden doll...no signs of any problems...
  2. Maybe a broadcaster has bought the rights? I can't imagine who, though, nor why they'd only livestream in Canada. Any Canadian broadcaster would gladly livestream worldwide if they could, just to drive up ad revenue.
  3. No, don't feel bad for saying that. But maybe there's a Japanese version of a Nessie? Godzilla isn't enough of a mystery. The big appeal of Nessie is that no one knows if she's real or just a legend. Godzilla's myth is different from that. And I realize now that some else already covered that ... I'm late to the conversation today...
  4. I really like this idea. Throwing a Nessie before he's actually landed one might be tempting fate.
  5. Amigurumi goat. Tiny and cute, that Yuzu can use as a pin or keychain of something.
  6. ...and the GPF being held in BC...hmmmmm.
  7. My favorite part of that translation: "I can't practice this jump every day... I am enjoying the process of learning how to do this. I use my head to train (efficiently)." . . . Dudes. This means Nessie's almost a done deal. He's closer than we think.
  8. Either way, the destination is love
  9. Well, the trouble with that rule, like so many of the ISU's rules, is that it's open to interpretation. IMO none of Yuzu's competition costumes have been garish, although some might be considered theatrical (after all, SEIMEI was pretty well theatre from start to finish because Yuzu was playing a character). I'd love for some of the bad costumes of the late 80's and early 90's to be reviewed with this rule in mind. Not sure that many of Yagudin's or Plush's costumes would pass... Ilia Kulik most definitely would not pass...
  10. In my opinion, Yuzu's able to pull this off precisely because he's so manly. You never get the sense, watching him, that he is at all insecure about himself in this way, so the costumes work. As regards to other skaters: well I think it speaks volumes when, for some of them, their best costumes tend to happen with their exhibition programs. It means that they're trying to keep to some kind of 'rules' for the competition outfits - either written or unwritten. And you know, some skaters just look better in other stuff. For example, I've always thought that Chan's best skating outfit (can't call it a costume) was the hockey sweater and jeans he wore for 'Lovers in a Dangerous Time'. It just suited him and it made his skating seem so relaxed and open. But it wasn't a standard competition costume. Also, I'm going to point out here that Shoma isn't exactly a slouch in the frilly, glittery costume department either (though he's a lot more restrained with the frills - they're more like flutter or fringe). And it suits him beautifully, and he doesn't look girly at all. For that matter, most of the Japanese male skaters tend to be very well dressed on the ice - they seem to have taste.
  11. At least everyone knows which program they're looking at when they see a random clip, because the costumes are distinct for each one.
  12. It all comes down to individual taste. Some people will see certain things as 'sissy', some won't. I say the skater should always wear what they look good in. For a lot of NA skaters, they don't look so great in delicate, elaborate costumes. (In fact, I think Johnny Weir way overdoes it. Most of his costumes are so...busy. Too much happening at once. It's like the costume is wearing him.)
  13. Aw, come on, guys, you know he wants to! As for Nathan, I suspect we're going to see some boring variation of a shirt and pants combo.
  14. The word 'glitterbomb' triggered this idea: what if Yuzu shows up looking like a discoball? Not just glittery but covered in thousands of tiny mirrors?
  15. It was a song called "Istanbul, not Constantinople", and the costume is definitely a little off culturally as well as aesthetically...another great feature of the 90s....
  16. Yes indeed. Imagine the effect on my 17 year old self when I first saw this on TV. ...and it was a brilliant program , too, very comedic and light. The costume was just...
  17. Some people look ridiculous in glitter, though, and Patrick would definitely be one of them. Nathan, I don't know, but i suspect the same.
  18. For my money, Brian's worst was always this one: why, Brian, why?
  19. They all should have been watching it too anyway...:D
  20. I instantly visualized this, and now I can't un-see it. Brian was probably all: on the inside, while outwardly being all like 'We got this, we can do it, yeah...'
  21. Just in general, the people at TCC seem to be very good about being discreet and not leaking pics. Considering how many people must be using the place who know nothing or almost nothing about FS, but would probably realize that Hanyu's famous, that's some kind of a miracle. I don't know how the TCC does it, but kudos to them
