  1. It's mostly a joke because we haven't seen live video of him in so long. No skating, no white-wall videos from his parents' basement, nothing. Given how so many people's reactions when they first see him live in person is 'he's real! He's really real!' because he seems so other-worldly on the ice, it's a fitting joke to think him a mirage when you haven't seen him in a while
  2. That means that the dedicated site servers are probably crashing under demand right...about...NOW. since Japan is 12 hours ahead.
  3. He is! I saw him with my own eyes! I really really did!
  4. It's also not actually that easy to get to Niagara Falls from Toronto unless you drive yourself. Public transit isn't exactly stellar. My uncle did it one year when he visited from Ireland and all he could do afterwards was complain about how uncomfortable it was to ride Greyhound
  5. Roman's reaction. Poor guy has tears in his eyes at one point. and, I'm a bit sick of hearing 'sad but understandable'. At this point in the game every grown adult in the world knows exactly what they're supposed to be doing to halt the spread of the virus. If we're getting a second wave, it's because individual, grown, supposedly responsible adults are failing to do what they're supposed to be doing, out of a wanton disregard for their fellow human beings. Preventing the spread of the virus comes down to individual choices and actions. This second wave didn't have to happen. Yes I'm angry. Sorry.
  6. Piper's & Paul's reaction: https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1806952003545
  7. Nam doing a tango is very unexpected, but it looks great! And the tone of his post is surprisingly upbeat considering the circumstances.
  8. That's not strictly true. Apart from TCC, Toronto is something of an epicenter of figure skating overall, so I expect Yuzu will always have professional reasons to return there for visits, but I agree with you that he's never going to settle there permanently. As for what Yuzu does with his career...I expect him to follow in Shizuka's footsteps and become involved in the JSF executive over time. My gut feeling is that the man is secretly burning to change things from within for the sport in Japan, and you can't do that without being influential in the federation.
  9. From your mouth to God's ears, @Geo1. I'm just about fed up. We had the volunteer meeting (over Zoom) for SCI last week, I was so excited for it even though it was going to be so tightly controlled to prevent infection, and this week the whole thing is cancelled. So far Skate Canada has cancelled every major competition they had planned for the year. I'm beginning to suspect the season just won't happen for us at all. I mean the next major competition on the slate is Nationals in January. Hopefully that'll be possible. Oy Vey. Time to start saving so that I have loads of money to go to every competition I can when the sport is able to come back properly, I guess.
  10. You don't say. I'm utterly shocked, especially after the Russian Test Skates held there were the epitome of COVID safety.
  11. Dude! No! . Well, maybe... . . What am I saying?! No! But I would not object to him in a speed skating unitard.
  12. I could see Yuzu doing playful and energetic all over the ice, like the scene where Aladdin turns the market upside down with his mischief.
  13. Aladdin's going to be with us forever, isn't it? At this rate, Yuzu might as well do a program.
  14. Just ask Alexa who's the G.O.A.T. That oughta do it.
  15. As of this past Monday, it was going forward with no fans in attendance, limited staff/volunteers, and strict measures in place to protect the skaters. But who knows what each new day will bring. IMO Skate Canada will cancel if they have to but they're hoping not to have to.
  16. In that case, they should definitely go for the Under Armour.
  17. Plenty of fancy/formal restaurants here, but I don't know anyone who goes to them for dates, unless it's something like a wedding anniversary or an engagement or something. Lots of government wonks using the restaurants for 'working dinners', though. And the men going to those use this dress jacket and shirt with open collar look (that Yuzu's got on) fairly frequently. My one and only boyfriend literally laughed at the idea of a fancy date. His idea of a special night out was paying for my ribs at Montana's. Sadly, he's the norm, not the exception around here :(. kind of glad we're exes. And I'd like to think Yuzu would have the class to treat a girl to a fancy date if he were so inclined.
  18. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this...
  19. Do people even go on those kinds of dates anymore? I haven't met anyone who's done it in the last 25 years...
  20. I was thinking the exact same thing. Who gets to stand there while replicas of their eyeballs are held up to them for colour comparison? Other than Yuzu, no one I know.
  21. Yes please. Honestly, Madame Tussaud's should save themselves some trouble and put Yuzu in the short-sleeve Under Armour. Then the figure will be a Yuzu for all occasions...
  22. ...but he's working so hard to try and overcome it...you'd think he'd have gotten somewhere...
  23. That choreo excites me. It looks like they tried to make as much use of Roman's beautiful long limbs and graceful lines as possible. I can't wait to see this in full, with music.
