No, fan-organized fundraising is banned. For a myriad of reasons but the chief one being that most such activity is done to show support for the various K-Pop idols that are, much to the dismay of the authorities, extremely popular in China. In any case, Chinese fanyus do so much to show their support for Yuzu already. There's no need for them to fundraise as well. They are doing enough as it is.

Well, Russian pairs are a juggernaut for anyone to face, but IMO R/J have not been consistent enough together to justify placing so much confidence in them. Their partnership hasn't gelled yet at all. Whereas Trennt and Evelyn have nowhere to go but up. Plus, they slugged it out in the trenches for the past four years doing their part to keep Canada's two spots. They earned the right to go.

Even if they cover the costs...the only lab in Ottawa that's doing private, fee-for-service PCR tests right now is limited to travellers only, and you have to tell them the flight you're booked on before they'll let you book the test, for example. So the barrier isn't just money, but access to a lab that does them.

So, as maybe everyone knows already, Skate Canada took the wise decision to hold Canadian Nationals without an audience. However, this means we can't cheer for the skaters as we'd like to, so I'm proposing a project: Let's all post our support and cheers for them on social media! You can post directly to the Skate Canada SM accounts, or to the skater's own accounts if you follow them. I suggest something like, if you already have a banner for the skater you like, post a photo of it to their Twitter or to the Skate Canada acc't, or just post a supportive message. On Twitter, use an appropriate hashtag too, like maybe #GoCanSkaters or some such. I really think it'll give them a shot in the arm when they need it. They have to go anyway, they have multiple athletes competing. Assuming China is willing to let coaches/team staff in, Brian & Co, will have to meet all the requirements of any one attending the Games, so, vaxxing and quarantine etc.

There's great footage out there of a baby Yuzu popping into a 3A from a standing start at some ice show or other, taken sometime before 2014, not sure when. It's pretty eye-opening to see. In other news, my year as a satellite is starting pretty nicely: I got to work today, and the barista at the cafe in the hospital lobby, who is both a fellow fanyu and a fellow ARMY, was absolutely giddy over Yuzu's skates at JNats, so my work year for 2022 has started with a happy fangirling session over our dear boy. I think it's a reasonable thing to wonder about, but right now thanks to the omicron variant it's completely out of his hands as he may or may not be able to travel. I think there are resources at TCC that he simply can't get in Sendai that he might to choose to draw upon but that's up to him.

Guys, it's got me down that there could be no Pooh rain for Yuzu this time, even though he did the 4A and all, as I said here: Do you think maybe we could just give him a virtual Pooh rain right here and now, by filling the screen with these Pooh icons? He deserves at least that much, and I'm too terrible at organizing events to come up with anything more elaborate.

This was me today, every time I thought about the 4A layout and Yuzu's admission that he hasn't actually landed it yet: I'm NOT READY. My nerves! My heart! But still, very happy he's going to try.
