  1. I just finished another rewatch of GIFT (have to get them in while I can, only a few hours left!) and this time I only watched the Yuzu skating, dancers, and the band's live performances of LGC and the specially-written GIFT theme. What pops out: - The band was excellent. Really really excellent, and Takabe-san is clearly a star in his own right. - the dancers also did a fabulous job and someone put a lot of time and effort into their choreography, especially for the 'game over' sequence, where each dancer is doing something slightly different from the others. - focusing on the skating makes it really apparent just what a tremendous physical effort this was on Yuzu's part. That he got through all those programs with only a couple of cat-like saves on the jumps and a tiny handful of other minor slip-ups, is incredible. (Also, it wouldn't be a Yuzu program without a cat-like save or two.) He did a full competition-grade SP (Rondo) (would love to know what kind of score that would have got from fair, impartial judges), another SP slightly less seriously (LMEY), two full-length exhibition programs (Notte & HYK), two completely new show programs (the one all in flowy white - i forget the song name, and the red one, Ashura), a simplified version of his free skate POTO, segments of his free skate programs H&L and SEIMEI, a segment of Ballade, his original art piece A Fleeting Dream, a portion of Firebird, a six minute warm-up and a joyful 2 minute improv to thank the audience at the end. This man has stamina and he has it in spades.
  2. No, I don't know. Even what I've already mentioned is from stuff Yuzu has already said in earlier interviews. I'd only be guessing at anything else. I do think that the starlight is supposed to represent his fans and supporters. He always mentions it while quoting typical fan comments and encouragements.
  3. It's available for another 20 hours - deadline is 23h59 on March 1, Taiwan time
  4. 4A is the 'Fleeting Dream', I believe. And when he talks about everything he cherishes disappearing all of a sudden, it seems pretty clear that he's making reference to the 3/11 Tohoku Disaster that he lived through and wondered if he'd have to quit skating
  5. The ISU is only a sport governing body for competitive skating of various kinds. They literally have nothing to do with ice shows (or should not, at least). Oh, what did Nam say? I feel like he'd be really excited over the whole thing.
  6. No kidding, eh? Not to mention all the ice shows. The only ones who don't look ...ummm, lesser next to this are people like Elladj, who are out there doing their own thing ...actually, strike that. Tessa & Scott's farewell tour across Canada, Rock the Rink, had some similar elements of self-disclosure. But not like this
  7. Plus the Challenge Cup was on in the Netherlands, with half the Japan team there. Couldn't watch even if they wanted to. By the way, after Challenge Cup, Kaori is now #1 Woman in the ISU standings. She seems to be taking to winning like a duck to water... I wasn't thinking of it in these terms but I agree with this interpretation
  8. Regarding other skaters' reactions: Jordan watched, and was blown away. https://instagram.com/stories/oniceperspectives/3047407505969584188?utm_source=ig_story_item_share&igshid=MDJmNzVkMjY=
  9. I think, from a stage management perspective, they serve a number of different narrative purposes. And while I'm on the topic of rewatching, I'd like to take a minute to appreciate the job the GIFT band did with LGC. I was too busy expecting Yuzu to appear in the PPOS and rock out that LGC choreo on the first viewing to pay attention to the band, but they really did Prince justice!
  10. Just rewatching gift and I realized that the way the two hands are positioned above the bandstands looks a bit like someone presenting an open jewel box. Like a GIFT
  11. You know, just from a purely skating perspective, I love A Fleeting Dream so much. It's all about the edges, the balance, the flow... simply skating, done well.
  12. Sent you a possible solution via DM. Let me know if it works
  13. Still no word from the satellites who were in attendance at TD? Yuzu must have stunned them completely 😁
  14. It wouldn't even let me try! Couldn't access the site until I logged in with my phone
  15. Oh no, @Geo1! That's awful. I ran into a problam because the Global Coding site didn't like that I still run Win 7 on my laptop, so I ended up watching on my phone! Hard on my eyes but still worth it.
  16. I feel like it's a really conservative estimate. More than 100 cinemas would most likely be more than 30,000 seats. They're assuming a 300 seat average per cinema Did a quick back-of-envelope calc and ticket revenues for the Dome alone would come in just under $9 million. Not sure what the cost to stage the show was but I'm going to assume it paid for itself at least
  17. Congratulations! Also, it was pretty clear to me that Yuzu was making it obvious throughout GIFT that we fans are an important part of his story - he seems to consider fans as part of the starlight that encourages him.
  18. Now that I've been up all night waiting for and then watching GIFT, time to decide whether to go to bed for a bit or just go to early Mass and get on with my day. Kinda worn out. Not going to lie, watching Yuzu skate anything is wonderful, but also takes a lot of energy. I need to recharge!
  19. Just remember that it's only available for rewatching until 11:59pm Taiwan time on March 1
  20. oh my gosh this is so gorgeous. Couldn't really see it well on the phone screen
  21. I don't wanna talk about it too much because the Planet has a rule about Twitter drama, but it was definitely one of those moments. I wasn't even given a chance to fix my Tweets - just instant suspend and they've so far refused to reinstate me
  22. Can't wait to hear what they have to say. I'm surprised no one posted from the Dome already
