  1. Who was skating to the music of Lord of the Rings in 2020? He Fresh She Aged Me Old You Young im dead at this one!!!
  2. I'm not sure if this is the right thread to just discuss about the two new programs (if we need a new thread specific for the two, admin/mod please move!) but could I hear more of your opinions on the two? How would you rate/rank them against his past programs? The Japanese Nationals sp and fs were mostly filled with our excitement and screams so I didn't see too many analyses there. I also have stayed away from reading comments other platforms like twitter or youtube. (I really wish they'd leave out the ina bauer and back spiral from H&E. the elements were so poorly placed imo.)
  3. Ahhh well we know haters are going to hate. Let's refocus our energy on how magnificent Yuzu skated this program at his debut. There isnt much we can do to change their opinions but I think we can always bury the negativity with the positivity by giving a like, a view, a new positive comment about his program out there.
  4. Medalist on ice soon! --- I just showed my parents Yuzu's Heaven and Earth. My dad remembered him. Then I took the opportunity to show them more programs i.e. sc origin, pc seimei, gpf Lgc, and pc the swan. They showered him with compliments from his looks to his artistry to his technicalities. My dad kept pointing out how Yuzu skates to the music. sighs I think H&E has ignited my passion for him way too hard.
  5. Yes, there are many parts of the program I really love i.e. the beginning part with his pose he revealed, the pre ss leading to pause holding sword movement, the 30 second jumps, the hydroblade matching the music, the ending pose. But the rest arent as memorable esp the ss and ch ss. Also, i think as fans we are doing much more research and are more emotionally invested in Yuzu to acknowledge the meaning and complexity of this program. But I think judges and most nonfans will superficially see this as a seimei 2.0. I think they will understand this as a cultural piece but not much the story behind it. I think a lot of people mistook Seimei as being about a samurai. Thats why I think it is important to finetune it and make it a bit more obviously different from his past pieces to the wider audience esp if this is going to be presented as an olympic program. As much as I love this program, it feels like it is missing the epic moment that Seimei gave during the choreographic seq. But then it could be the lack of scream at japanese nationals this year that partially contributed to this.
  6. Exactly! My friend told me she doesnt feel the music with H&E (as in both he sorta skated through it and that the music is boring). I think this music is such a difficult piece to skate to because it isnt as notey as seimei or melodic as HL. It is rather blend as a piece eventho I do appreciate the complexity in the composition, it will be difficult to translate into skating and project with the audience for Yuzu. It also lacks the climatic moment esp around the choreo seq. To me, for now the program is at 80%. I think Yuzu has always been the type of skater who develops through each competition. I would like to see some changes to the music at the end as well as more highlighted movements in the step sequence and choreo sequence. Right now, the program is a bit less epic and memorable as it has potential to be.
  7. I feel like not only are we the beneficiaries of having Yuzu continued to compete, but also every other skaters like Nathan and Shoma always skated better in a competition with Yuzu there. I don't care what the isu makes scoring looks like today, Yuzu is the one and only the world looks to beat. I am so grateful to still see Yuzu continuing this hard road to victory. Let's savor every single competition he sets to compete in the following two years.
  8. I think beijing since tokyo is summer olympics yes the gps isnt counted toward world standing this season..I believe the OP asked if Yuzu should skip next season and i think it will count next season if everything returns to normal.
  9. But I think skipping the gps will be difficult to gain points for world standing. Also, I think it is still good to get ice time infront of real audience and esp going head to head with Nathan before Beijing. It's going to be more difficult and challenging but after all he is a competitor. But one thing we all know for sure is he rises above hardships. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going! -- 2020 actually hasnt been a bad year for him. He won both 4CC and Nationals, broke a sp record, topped world standing, skated squeaky cleaned first time since gpf15, has stayed healthy and focused, scored over 300, graduated university. Every year there are blessings to be counted.
  10. I couldnt stop watching LMEY and it brought out my love for LGC once again that I went back and rewatched GPF 16. That masterpiece is still better. I really cannot wait for LMEY to get to that level!!!
  11. I am so sorry to hear that about you! I am glad Yuzu has brought us happiness. I am praying this competition will treat him well!
  12. I am still amazed by that 4s. It's so beautiful and airy
  13. for me its more like this song is so repetitive. I was not a fan early enough to experience PW and LGC reveal so I just fell in love with those programs when i saw him skating to it. But with this sp music, its like meh to me. While I did expect a LGC vibe sp I also expected something with more depth and dynamic from Jeff and Yuzu when it comes to music selection. I admit my double standards. But Im waiting for them to prove me dead wrong. I know Yuzu always delivers
  14. its been like 10 months. I was ready to wait until the olympic to see him lol this gift came too early I was not prepared edit: im extremely nervous. his first pancake is at lots of stakes here with the talents we have at nationals. Ideally a flawed Yuzu should still win, but realistically would he? that is the question
  15. Up until now I thought all of this was just a fantasy
  16. lmao shameless and their last tweet was about Yuzu getting the MVS because he's paying ISU bills . They'd sure know the most about this since they'd do anything to drag Yuzu's name or even his fandom in to pay for their bills. i honestly don't get why they're relevant at this point. we should just let them rot in irrelevance.
  17. Charlie and Tanith are some my favorite north american commentators and I could really see their true appreciation for Yuzu shone through every time they talked about him or to him. I feel like ice dancers tend to appreciate Yuzu more bc they understand artistry. and yes, the clownery show was all about popularity and money, that's what it was created for and that's what it wanted to streamline. I think they tried so hard to split the pie. they gave most of the awards to eteri camp and some to the other disciplines, but they didn't forget to nominate the north american skaters in order to attract those patriots, and most importantly, they nominated popular skaters like Yuzu, Zhenya who bring in the views. honestly, i felt like giving the award to Yuzu was a last minute decision thing where they witnessed the reception and realized it wouldn't be a good idea after all to give it to anyone else, which should have even come as a surprise in the first place. It seems like they needed Yuzu to validate the show by giving the MVS to him rather than the other way around. Practically we'd have at most 2 more seasons left with Yuzu (and figure skating as a whole for me) so I just wish the cancel this thing next two seasons and bring back gala shows. And I cannot believe August is coming. I realized that my life has really fallen into seasons now and it all revolves around when Yuzu competes. And I'm so used to waiting that the cactus season begins to feel normal haha I wonder if we would really get a program announcement this august or have to wait until the competition day like last season to find out. Putting everything in retrospect, I feel like although Yuzu lost GPF and Jnats last season, it wasn't a disastrous season. Yes, scoring has been a mess since 16/17 and the GPF results were unbelievably ridiculous, but I feel like there were a lot more things to be thankful for in 19/20 compared to 18/19. While he did break a lot more records in 18/19 and there was more excitement since we got to experience otonal/origin the first time, 19/20 seemed more bittersweet. He was able to break so many curses, still break records, bring back old jumps, bring in new jumps, achieved super slam, and most importantly competed at 6 events injured free! it just amazing what he could still do as a 2 time olympic champion. while he has nothing more to prove, it's just so exciting as a fan to still see how he was able to keep grabbing more achievements along the way trying to achieve his main mission of landing a 4A. And hopefully since he stays, even if it might seem infeasible to win a 3rd olympic, you can never underestimate Mr. Hanyu.
  18. I missed the darn isu award show on purpose only to find out Yuzu attended live I almost cried rewatching the videos seeing that cutie patootie better looking than ever before with his oscar worthy speech awards show still sucks but man I do love the fact it gave us yuzu content, i'm soft
  19. So basically Yuzu is being used to bring in the hype for the "award show", which is intended to promote Chen, who is advertised as the one to bring in figure skating popularity
  20. Watch when Yuzu's new program is one of the movies the guy directed
  21. honestly im still bitter about the unpublished quad flip attempt footage lol whats so hard to release it
  22. Both of these programs seem to have a universal appeal to fans. As much as I love all Seimei, HL, and Chopin equally at this point, I always find Seimei to be the big favorite so I went for Chopin. Chopin is like that one program I always go back to watch because its short, its consistent, its one that he often did really well so there are many different excellent performances to watch. With Seimei, because he only skated it clean twice and its a fs, I find myself watching it a lot less. And funny thing is I tend to watch the Olympic version the most despite the mistakes. How I see it is, Seimei is easily Yuzu's, but Chopin is the program Yuzu makes it his own.
