  1. well sochi was...idk a scandal. if russia could inflate that much points for their girl, i think as long as plushenko landed his jumps maybe he could have still won idk. i wasnt following the sport when sochi happened but the way they inflated sotnikova's score was quite bad
  2. believe! no wonder his 4s entry and the way he sweeped his legs looked so inspired
  3. the way he jumped has that attack feel and are also really huge like Yuzu's. His skating also reminds me of little bit of Yuzu's wreckless abandonness when he was younger too. he def needs more control in his skating and jumps but the energy reminds me of little romeo at worlds12.
  4. hey guys, random question for the day between Anna and Kamila, since I feel like they are the most pushed skaters by rusfed at the moment, who will score higher if both skate their sp and fs clean AND Kamila doing 2 quads and 3 triple axels and Anna doing 3 quads and 2 triplelutzloop combo. With how Kamila looked at rusfed, I'm sure she would want to up her tech in order to be competitive against a clean Anna. I was looking at rusnats results and I feel like it is somewhat going to reflect how they are pushed by rusfed. Of course things can change if either one falters in the next few comps, but right now both are "looking strong" so they stand neck to neck on PCS and GOE. I feel like Anna has higher chance skating clean due to having more experience with her optimal layout. in a hypothetical world if both skate clean with their optimal layout, I feel like Kamila might win. The narrative of 15 year old prodigy ogm is so appealing like what we kept seeing surrounding past ogms (Zagitova, Lipinsky, (almost Lipnitskaya)) Anyway, at rusnats Kamila scored 10 points less but she fell on a triple axel in the sp. I feel like Anna replacing one of her triples with a quad lutz/flip won't give her as high of a marginal difference as Kamila replacing two other triples with two triple axels and a clean triple axel in the short.
  5. This costume is def giving the illusion that Yuzu is chunkier than usual. sooo cute! I just thought of this pretty randomly. But among his senior shorts, he has done 3 programs that are more upbeat: PW, LGC, and this. But if you have to give an adjective to describe each program, what would they be? Mine would be PW: Rockstar/Heartthrob LGC: Sass LMEY: Punk
  6. yeah to add I think the impression that H&E doesnt have high/need higher bv is given by jsf judging thank you very much. Let's say he was awarded correctly, he could have scored well over 330 for his two clean performances and no one would have thought about the need to up the bv. And I dont think that would be a national inflated score either. He usually scores 110+ internationally with a clean short and a 4 quad 2 triple axel free should put him in the 220+ if fair. The fact that jsf did this to him sends a message to isu that they dont support him and that's what going to push him to do unnecessary suicidal layout at international competition to stay competitive against nathan. eta re 4A: I feel conflicted about this element. on one hand it would be nice to see Yuzu land it, no matter where no matter how well. it is his ultimate dream. I want him to retire fulfilled, happy, done with the sport and this circus. I know when he has set his eyes on something he will go for it no matter how little reward it gets. i want him to do something for himself, not for anyone else. But on the other hand, I dont think it is possible to land 4a without losing a competiton. this element has only been a stumbling block for him. I didnt care the first two seasons but now that its already his 3rd season post pc and knowing he does have intention of going to beijing if possible, i am starting to dislike this snake. I feel like its best if Yuzu could just make up his decision now rather than later whether he will continue to train for it or not. By assessing the current situation, with where Yuzu stand in terms of scoring, the risk seems almost silly. Between winning vs training for 4a, he can only choose one. His past two seasons told me that training for 4a isnt worth it -- his other jumps get affected, he injured more, he lost opportunity to focus on the 4lz and 4loop, and lost consistency throughout each performance which means his goe and pcs go down. I would rather he spends those time to train for other jumps/combos like 4lz and 4loop, 4lz3t, 4t eu 3flip so he could land them together more consistently. The chance of him landing a 4lz in the short, as risky as it sounds, is still far more possible than the 4a in the free. I feel like for the past two seasons, this trial and error period with the 4a has only been detrimental. I think he had planned to do 4a for origin at first but only switched to training for 4lz again after 18/19 season. I hope he puts the idea of 4a in the back burner until after beijing so he could be 100% focused on training to skate clean without the 4a. To me winning beijing means much more than landing a 4a. And i dont buy that he can have both. But ultimately Yuzu is Yuzu and he will decide what he knows is best for him.
  7. thats 4 clear full rotations in the air with the most perfect technique right there
  8. My absolute favorite was the landing on the 4t eu 3sal. How the heck was he able to keep the flow going with his next move to the nano second after landing it to meet the music?
  9. I like Jesse, who is obviously holding a Hanyu flag throughout his videos. I enjoy his passion and gushing over Yuzu. here I dont necessarily agree with most of what he said about the rus nats event but im not going to get into that. but regarding what he said about Yuzu here, i also dont agree with. I dont like the assumption that Yuzu is doing less skating skills because he isnt getting rewarded for it and that Nathan isnt doing either and got rewarded. (the youtubers probably meant choreo/transitions) this is just not the essence of his skating at all. He would never want to win that way (and he would never get rewarded that way either). I think TenChi was a good program where he has a lot more breathing room than origin. It was a big jump and because it was preceded by Origin, the contrast was even more glaring. But I think the program itself isnt empty not even by his standards and def not empty by the rest standards. Some might be seeing jam packed nonsensical transitions from danil's choreo and see that as the standard. No that is not the standard and should not. The standard should always be a balanced program with intentional and valuable transitions and choreo, which have been found throughout all of Yuzu's programs. With TenChi I'd say its not its final craft but nowhere near lacking either. In fact, it is one of his most, if not his most complete first pancake. He was not doing ten thousand choreos or movements because that isnt how the music should be interpreted. Having more breathing room and where he planted each jump are all part of a good composition to match the music. I think without following Yuzu and understanding he will never be complacent with his own craft, ppl may easily think this is a "watered down" program. Saying Yuzu is doing exactly what Nathan is doing now even if I know Jesse meant well and in favor of yuzu is still just plain wrong..Really?
  10. lmao did H* really say Yuzu is the favorite for Beijing? surely not judges' favorite
  11. I would like to request for ghislain at 7:55 and Yuzu at 8:49
  12. Yeah 😭 His interview after jnats2019 made me cry last year. He was clearly resigned. This was the comeback he needed just like sc19 was. And lol imagine how many versions they had to edit to get the final cut. But he controls everything tho. Even Satomi said she is actually just the assistant.
  13. He is so eloquent I can't. The way he is able to convey his thoughts are exactly how he has been able to convey his programs. The part where he tried to convey Lord Kenshin's dilemma by adding a different part of the music at the end shows he is such a genius and master at his own craft.
  14. I think Yuzu can change the sp for the olympic next year and skate to this combined with this starting 1:29
  15. I forgot I should have visualized a katana rather than a sword from chinese wushu performance. But I did go back and rewatched and didnt really see him gripping with both of his hands during the stpseq tho. Or maybe I'm missing something?
  16. Please post photos of this program
  17. I think we need a thread for this. Please post your favorite photos
  18. Right, that's incredible! But I was surprised to see the 4lo had 60 cm because I would have thought he needed more height for bigger jumps. other quads usually got over 60cm. --- Btw, I just want to confirm my understanding of the ss in TenChi. If I remember correctly, Yuzu said it was meant to show a scene of battleship. Did anyone else get this impression he was doing swordplay? If it is, I would personally love to have this part further developed over the next competitions. from 1:41 - 2:18 I think it would be a super iconic ss to extend his hand holding sword moves/make them more obvious, of course still need to make sure he could satisfy the step requirements. Please excuse my horrid photoshop skills. my imagination ran a lil wild for ref
  19. here is what I realized today. How to put it, I guess not really realizing but was reminded of something as I listened to Ten to Chi to music just now -- that is, Yuzu is really amazing. lol Whenever I watch a figure skating program by other skaters, most of the time, I can't remember what their programs are about or exactly know what they try to convey. I guess that is why most skaters choose warhorses because they are well known. The skaters can just make sure they hit the notes of the music and thats good enough. For me, unfortunately, that strategy worked most of the time. Why? Because I like music pieces with familiar melodies. I like to understand what I am watching rather than doing research or going out of my comfort zone to understand something. So as long as I could see skaters actually skating to the music I like, thats a rewatchable program. Now I am not saying that makes them a good skater, but it makes the program more rewatchable. Likewise, some of my most fav programs from Yuzu or any other skaters are ones where they skate to the music and have good, memorable music. In the past, at one point I didn't enjoy Seimei as much as say Hope and Legacy or Chopin because I did not like the music as much. Hope and Legacy was new but it is very melodic and suit to my taste so it was easy to grow into it. But after a while, I realized how revolutionizing Seimei, this masterpiece really is because even when I didnt (past tense because I clearly do now) love the music its how Yuzu skated to it that's made me love it. It's how the program was constructed and skated to that make a program great. It emphasizes to me that music is just a layer of a program not its foundation. The foundation is the skater. Without a great skater, we aren't watching it for the program but for the music, for the jumps, for a point/moment of the program. Similarly, with Ten to Chi to, I must admit I also could not follow it at first. It was even worse than Seimei because I was looking for a climatic part but it didnt give me that. I was like many ignorant westerners who were used to listening to eurocentric programs that follow one typical storytelling structure. However, as much as I couldnt remember the music, I remember Yuzu's skating. So just now when I listened to just Ten to Chi to without watching the skate, I was able to visualize which part he skated to. Likewise, when I watched Yuzu's skate while muting the music, I could begin to hear its melody through silence. It's crazy. It shows how his skating and the music are one. To me, it is as if he brings life to the music. I don't have to be someone who grew up watching this movie to like it because he has conveyed the story through his skating. I'm not a very eloquent person so I hope you guys are following my stream of consciousness haha. I am so in awe of how Yuzu not only has been pushing the sport forward technically and artistically, but also culturally. He challenges the status quo of the system like no one I have ever seen. I would not have discovered and fallen in love with so many good movies or musics from Japan if he had not been such a powerful ambassador.
  20. Id take a recycle program that keeps getting polished with new elements than 4 new programs with the same exact layout, recycled choreo, and people skating through the music anytime
  21. Yo this is what an article should be about!
  22. her name has the word beautiful but her personality is ugly
  23. Hanyu is experimenting with looks, but has given up on difficult jumps Hanyu has been acting somewhat arrogant towards viewers and rivals over the past few years, returning programs from past years from year to year. The apotheosis was the decision to return the short under Chopin that season for ... the fourth time. Therefore, Yuzuru could not go to the Japanese championship with the old programs, and even a pandemic would not be an excuse. LOL what??? eta: and no, jsf didnt score their skaters harshly to prepare them for international comps. did the op even look at shoma's protocol?
  24. Why am I even following a sport system that chooses to reward incorrect technique and low quality skating but punish the opposite? Like why? If they continue to injustifiably ding him on his nonexisiting underrotations (aci19), invalidate his spins, and lowball his GOEs and PCs and give candies to other skaters, no amount of effort on his part would be enough. This is bs. Is there anything we could even do? *feeling helpless
