For me, Patrick is more a "classical" skater and Yuzu's more of a "romantic" skater [talking about musical eras here lol] And Chopin is a Romantic composer so

agree with everything you said especially the bolded parts.. My fav short program is Chopin so even though I was initially like mmh... three peat? not so sure... I think I've seen the light LOL For the "princely" vibe I think it's that kind of commanding yet sensitive aura he exudes, that's pronounced when he skates to Chopin... because the way the program is constructed from the beginning to the end really showcases that aspect of his skating and personality.... His lovely floaty costume helps with that I guess

when trying to do quads go hard or go home... who needs the 4T... so basic...
-
I think out of the top 6 Yuzuru's probably the most versatile out of them all - he's done the warhorses, piano, blues (PW), rock (you can classify prince as rock right??? , please correct me if I'm wrong), japanese music (seimei, H&L) of different styles... a pretty big range... he tries (and succeeds!) to expand his artistic comfort zone... Which is why I think if he did do Latin, I'm sure he'd sell it. I know it might not be fair to compare Yuzu's programme range with those of younger skaters like Nathan, Boyang and Shoma but out of Yuzu, Patrick, Javier I think Yuzu tries the most to be more innovative every year - not to say Patrick and Javi haven't expanded their range as well, with Patrick's lovely FS this year and Javi's SP, but you don't really see Yuzu's almost antithetical programmes - the upbeat Let's Go Crazy vs subdued and sensitive Hope and Legacy - in many single skaters... Anyways, sorry for going off on a tangent. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how Latin would translate to FS! It's really refreshing to hear your insight! :)

I've never watched it live so I don't know but I think I can also sometimes tell how a jump is going to do as soon as the skater goes up into the air sometimes it's because of the axis but sometimes it's just a feeling ? Omg yess... my heart rate spikes up everytime I know the skater's about to jump [heart rate is proportional to emotional investment so basically it goes through the roof with yuzu lol] I can't imagine the immense pressure performers in general and skaters must feel, with an entire stadium/concert hall/viewers around the world staring at every movement...

Mmh, Yuzu has already performed LGC so well. I think what he wanted to work on this season with this program was audience connection and getting that energy and he's definitely achieved that. The GPF version is pretty good :) My fave part about is probably his cheeky smile after he manages to save the 4Loop LOL Chopin I think it's his best SP so far but since Yuzu is a skater who breaks people's preconceived notions I'm hoping he comes up with something next season that's just as uniquely majestic :) also sometimes i have a video of his skating chopin + seimei on loop when studying because somehow its really motivating lolll
-
I totally agree with you! I think for LGC it's probably better to just leave it to rest. LGC is a really complex and high-energy program, even without the insane layout... Yes, Chopin was also complex but I feel like Chopin showcases more of his strengths - his quiet sensitivity mixed with his immense strength and technical skill (maybe I'm just biased bc I kind of loved his chopin sp) And with Chopin, he probably repeated it because there was this "untapped potential" lingering with that program, which I don't really feel the same about with LGC?

Yuzu's protocol for Chopin GPF 2015 was such a thing of beauty omg 3's everywhere [for GOE ] 10's everywhere [for PCs] reflecting his skate that was basically absolute perfection
-
Yeah, I think I recall somewhere Shoma mentioned he wanted his coach to choreo his competition programs... So if Lambiel is helping Shoma with his competition programs, it's probably to polish them...

thanks for the link! the interview looks pretty interesting :)

Other Skaters' 2017/18 program announcements
randomanon replied to CupidsBow's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
Isn't it a bit to fast to show a program? I read through the threads that japan skaters usually show their program during DOI :eh: :eh: perhaps he wants to get the mileage + see what the public thinks? if it's true then i'm pretty excited to see Vivaldi and how much he changed turandot -
Yuzu's reaction :goe: It even sound so cute >< I know right! he looks so nice in the scarf as well lol
-
so beautiful speaking of which, the sleeves in her exhibition are sooooo gorgeous... especially when doing spirals and at the end ... that layback...and the sleeves like wrap around her... :goe: :goe:
-
But it's been used by both Brian Orser and Yuna Kim... I think the comparisons would too huge :/
-
Yes. :) I still wonder whether it is his channel or just someone uses his name. It looks suspiciously like him haha it would be so hilarious if it was omg....

Landings, mechanics, etc of FS jumps
randomanon replied to meoima's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
I think i remember somewhere someone said Nathan tilts to one side too much when landing? not sure if that's what you're referring to, please correct me if i'm wrong :) -
I think for quints BV to occur 4A needs to be landed first He is so amazing and inspiring in terms of being able to achieve the incredibly difficult goals he sets for himself. Meanwhile, I tell myself "today I will do X hours of work" -> gets like one quarters of it done
-
Ah okay I see, thanks for the great explanation! :goe:
-
he always look so young when his hair neatly drapes down around his face  every time I visit Yuzu's wiki page, I never fail to swoon at his sochi gold photo at the top right of the page  agreed, he's soo cute in that photo

mmmmh I get how distance doesn't really factor into airtime but how come not speed? Or does speed just affect the flow in/out ...
-
Same same here... I don't think it would have the necessary impact :/
-
:yay: :yay: When does he normally release his program music? I'm so curious :(

Yeh her strategy is pretty good in the long term sense - just the transitional period might be not so smooth but I think she'll overcome that :)
-
was it rotated? i feel like she might go the liza route -> do tons of small competitions to get mileage on 3A
-
well the best strategy would be to add 3A // up your technical content while increasing GOEs and PCs [kind of like yuzu in his early days but with extra quads instead] but the key is consistency + full rotation... the ladies field is kind of a bloodbath right now from 2nd place downwards, one mistake and you drop like 7 places... BV won't save you like it does for mens...
